The bonfire party went on for a long time. Sky Knight Gan Fall sat quietly to the side, silently observing the Straw Hat Pirates.
After the lively gathering finally came to an end, Gan Fall walked toward the crew who were resting.
"This island—Upper Yard—was brought up from the Blue Sea by the Knock Up Stream…" he began.
Sandy asked, "Sky Knight, is there something you need to tell us?"
Luffy tilted his head. "Do you think the party wasn't long enough and want us to start again…?"
Duang!
Before Luffy could even finish, Nami punched his chubby face.
Gan Fall continued, "Four hundred years ago, this island rose from the sea below. The original residents of Skypiea believed it was a gift from God. They declared it the Holy Land."
He sighed.
"But this land already had inhabitants—the Shandia. For their own selfish reasons, the early Skypieans drove the Shandia out of Upper Yard. That conflict continues even now."
"What?!" Luffy yelled. "That's messed up!"
Gan Fall nodded regretfully. "Yes. Our ancestors made that mistake. We've tried for generations to put an end to the conflict, but… it hasn't succeeded."
Zoro folded his arms. "We're just here to find treasure. We're not getting involved in your politics."
Gan Fall looked at him seriously. "Listen to me first. Right now, the Shandia are fighting the current 'God'—Enel. And the place you want to explore for gold is exactly where both sides are clashing."
Suddenly, Sandy pulled out a handgun from his spatial backpack.
Everyone froze.
"Enemies?!"
"As expected—we should put out the fire!"
"Sandy, you can use a gun?!"
"Where are they?! I don't see anyone!"
Sitting calmly, Sandy twirled the gun with unnecessary flair, then fired a shot into the sky.
Everyone instinctively looked up.
Sandy took a deep, satisfied drag of his cigarette and exhaled leisurely.
"I was just lighting a cigarette. Why the hell are you all panicking like that?"
Everyone's faces twitched, black lines hanging over their heads.
Sanji immediately grabbed Sandy by the collar. "You bastard! There's a fire right there! Why use a damn gun to light a cigarette?!"
Usopp shouted, "If you're lighting a cigarette, just light it! Why make it sound like we're being attacked?!"
Sandy pushed them both away with a snort. "Lighting it like this is cooler. Honestly, what I did is genius."
"Genius, huh? I'll show you genius—!"
Sandy did NOT expect to be beaten up just for smoking.
The pirate world was terrifying.
"Bastard! Don't do that again, got it?!"
"Yeah! We were listening seriously, and you suddenly whip out a gun—anyone would think enemies were coming!"
Ignoring them, Sandy took out a small mirror and calmly fixed his hair as their complaints passed straight through his brain.
Nami twisted his ear sharply. "Stop posing! Are you even listening to us?!"
"Huh?" Sandy blinked. "What did you say?"
Everyone fell over.
Luffy rolled around laughing. "Hahahahaha! Sandy, you haven't changed at all! Hahaha!"
Chopper was confused. "Do pirates never listen to others? That's so cool!"
Duang! Duang! Duang!
Usopp gulped. "Everyone… after hearing what the Sky Knight said… should we really go treasure hunting tomorrow? That place is where the Shandia and God are fighting!"
Zoro sharpened his sword calmly. "Usopp. Their problem has nothing to do with us. We came for treasure."
"But—but—it's GOD! GOD!!" Usopp cried.
Nami put her hands on her hips. "What are you scared of? Sandy, Luffy, Zoro—you guys handle the gold."
"Oh oh!!"
Luffy and Sandy—faces swollen, bruised, and noses bleeding—gave her a thumbs up with one eye open. "Leave it to us!!"
Seeing them like that, Zoro sighed and turned away.
The future looked bleak.
"Ah!" Sanji spun dramatically. "Nami-swan! I'll find the gold too!"
Gan Fall looked at Usopp. "Is the one wearing the straw hat your captain?"
Before Usopp could answer, Luffy grinned. "Old man, you can see I'll be Pirate King, right?"
Zoro and Usopp both yelled, "That's NOT what he asked!"
Sandy sat down next to Gan Fall. Under the knight's confused stare, Sandy wrapped an arm casually around his shoulder and lowered his voice.
"You were Skypiea's God before, right? You must know where the pretty girls are. C'mon, old man, spill it…"
Sanji instantly perked up and leaned in with shining eyes.
"That's enough, you bastard—!"
"OW! Why are you hitting me again?! I—I know I was wrong!! Stop hitting me, you'll kill me—!!"
"And WHY are you hitting me too?!" Sandy yelped as everyone piled onto him.
Later, everyone slept on the ground, while Nami and Robin stayed in tents.
Originally, Nami planned to sleep with Robin, but after a certain hint from Sandy, she understood.
Skypiea was over ten thousand meters above sea level, so nights here were especially cold.
Nami curled up under her thin blanket in the tent. Sandy worried she might catch a cold.
So, after everyone fell asleep, Sandy quietly appeared beside her.
Soon after, Nami shivered slightly—Skypiea nights really were freezing.
Being a "selfless young man from the 21st century," Sandy generously warmed Nami's blanket for her.
Robin, in the other tent, noticed something happening. Concerned about Nami catching a cold, she kept an eye on things.
After Nami dozed off comfortably, Sandy decided the temperature was perfect… and slipped into Robin's tent next.
At first, Robin felt awkward—she had never experienced such "treatment."
But once she relaxed and felt the warmth, she almost gasped in surprise.
Thankfully, Sandy quickly gave her a cloth, since everyone else was sleeping—and waking them with a sudden cry wouldn't be ideal.
