Seeing Luffy get swallowed by the giant snake, Sandy immediately prepared to swap him out.
But—nothing.
His Observation Haki couldn't sense Luffy inside the snake, making the swap impossible.
"Damn it! Spit him out already!"
"Awooo!!"
Sandy kicked the underside of the massive snake's jaw. The creature cried out in pain and opened wide, and finally Sandy sensed Luffy's presence again.
Luffy popped back out beside Sandy, looking dazed for a moment before flashing a goofy grin.
"Thanks, Sandy!"
"What the hell were you doing?" Sandy snapped. "Stop screwing around! Get Zoro and the others out of here!"
Once the idiots finally left, the giant snake didn't back away. Instead, it glared intensely at Sandy…
Being stared down like that, Sandy yelled, "What? If you give me that look again, believe it or not, I'll slaughter you!"
A faint blue wave of Conqueror's Haki washed over the giant snake.
Sandy could tell it was preparing to attack again. With its massive size, another tantrum could destroy half the Upper Yard.
He wasn't about to ruin the environment. He wasn't that insane.
Under the pressure of Sandy's Conqueror's Haki, the snake's fierce gaze trembled and softened with fear.
A beast was still a beast. When it got violent, its only instinct was to throw itself into a fight.
Seeing it finally calm down, Sandy said, "I'm here to travel, not take over this place. We aren't enemies. If you attack me again—"
He stopped—frowning suddenly.
In the distant sea of clouds…
A little girl was being attacked by a shark.
And in the next instant, Sandy vanished.
A young Shandian girl, Aisa, was riding her viper through the cloud sea.
She was gifted—born with incredibly strong Observation Haki. When she sensed Shandians disappearing one after another, she couldn't sit still.
So she rode out alone.
But a giant sky-shark lunged toward her.
Just as its jaws were about to close—
Sandy appeared mid-air and swapped Aisa into his arms, right as the shark bit her viper in half.
The little girl trembled. "T-Too scary… huff… huff…"
Sandy asked, "Little sister, did you just see the future?"
"See the future?" Aisa blinked. "What are you talking about?"
Sandy sighed. In a life-or-death moment, she had accidentally tapped into future sight, but she didn't know it.
Then Aisa suddenly realized something.
"You're from the Blue Sea!" she shouted. "Let go of me! Blue Sea people have no right to set foot on Apayado!"
Sandy stared. "Why?"
"Apayado is the land of the Shandia! You Blue Sea people can't set foot here!"
Damn. What kind of brainwashing was going on here? Did their leader fill her head with this crap since birth?
But Sandy didn't care enough to argue.
"Look down," he warned. "Move again and if you fall, that's on you, not me."
Aisa reflexively looked down—eyes widening.
She and Sandy were floating in mid-air.
"W-What kind of monster are you?!"
"I'm your older cousin," Sandy said flatly, rolling his eyes. He flicked his hand and tossed her toward the Going Merry, which wasn't far.
As soon as he landed on deck—
Nami punched him. Hard.
"You bastard! We were almost killed by that 'God'!"
Sandy cut her off. "Someone's coming."
Two rotund twins—brothers of the Sky Priest from the Ordeal of Balls—wobbled onto the Merry.
"What do you want?" Sandy asked.
"Huhu…"
"We're here for revenge."
"For our older brother!"
So Luffy and Sanji must've beaten their brother earlier.
The Sky Knight, Gan Fall, stood up. "Let this old man handle—"
"Nope." Sandy vanished and reappeared beside them, kicking both brothers clean off the ship.
He didn't have time for their nonsense.
Then Aisa suddenly pulled a dagger and pointed it at Gan Fall.
"It's you! I'm going to kill you!"
Gan Fall saw the hatred in her eyes. Even though the crimes of the Sky People were committed by their ancestors, he still felt responsible.
He set his weapon down, sat on the deck, and said gently, "We wronged the Shandia. If killing me can ease your hatred… do it, little one."
"Hey! Hey! What is going on?" Nami shouted. "This girl is a Shandian? Sandy—"
Sandy sighed. This little girl's upbringing was seriously messed up. So young, yet this irritable?
With no choice, he picked Aisa up by the back of her collar.
"Let go! I'm going to kill him! He stole our homeland!"
"My two crewmates are seriously injured," Sandy growled. "I don't have time for your crap. Keep yelling and I'll throw you to the sky-sharks."
He pointed at Gan Fall.
"And your hatred belongs to your ancestors. This old man is your future. He's the only one who can lead Skypiea and Shandia to peace."
He dropped Aisa on the deck like a misbehaving kitten.
"Adult problems are for adults. What are you gonna do, brat? Go home and take a nap."
Thump.
Nami scolded him immediately. "Don't be so harsh to a little girl!"
She then turned to Aisa and softened her tone. "Your name is Aisa, right—"
"I don't need your fake kindness, Blue Sea people!" Aisa shouted, stepping back.
Nami turned and glared at Sandy. "Hey! Explain!"
"She started it," Sandy said. "I just picked her up on the way. Anyway—what's going on with Sanji and Usopp?"
Earlier, Enel had come to the Merry just to talk to Gan Fall. But Sanji and Usopp thought it was an attack… and ended up getting blasted unconscious by Enel.
"They're still out cold," Nami sighed.
She looked back at Aisa. "We don't know anything about your conflict. We're only here for treasure. If you keep acting hostile—leave the ship."
Gan Fall hesitated. "You all…"
Sandy cut him off. "Old man, you don't even realize how important you are. You can't die. Understand?"
Aisa snapped, "Why can't he die?! He should've died long ago!"
Sandy glared at her. "I told you—he's the future of the Sky People. Do you seriously think your angry-all-the-time leader will bring peace?"
Aisa fell silent, fists trembling.
