Sandy didn't use much strength when he kicked Franky, but the impact looked dramatic enough to stun everyone.
Luffy walked back, rubbing his cheek, and said speechlessly, "Hey, Sandy, didn't you say we couldn't settle the score with him yet? Why did you attack first?"
Sandy coughed awkwardly. "Luffy, that's different! You don't understand—this guy really deserved a kick."
Nami stared at him with a dark expression. "What do we do now? Are we still going to see Iceberg?"
"Of course—"
Before Luffy could finish, Franky's furious yell echoed from down the street. Franky still had no idea how he had flown away. All he remembered was a blinding flash... then airborne.
"Get out here, Straw Hat Crew!!!"
Sandy immediately grabbed Nami and stepped back. "Captain, deal with it!"
"Oh!" Luffy grinned. "Leave it to me!"
Nami gritted her teeth. "You two are unbelievable."
Sandy whispered, "If I fight him seriously, he'll die. If he dies, we'll get kicked off the island. If we get kicked off, we can't get our ship fixed!"
"I KNOW," Nami hissed. "So why did you still attack?!"
"I couldn't help it… just like when I see you, I can't help—"
Duang!
Nami punched him squarely in the head, blushing furiously.
Franky stomped back toward them, cracking his knuckles. "So you're really something, huh? You did a good job. Was it you who kicked me just now?"
"So what if it was?" Sandy replied. "If you have a problem, talk to my Captain. He's the man who'll become the Pirate King. Are you ready to die?"
Luffy grinned. "That's right! I'm the man who's going to be the Pirate King!"
"Hmm…" Franky inhaled deeply—and then blasted out a giant stream of flames!
Sandy dodged with Nami in his arms while Luffy stared in awe like an idiot.
"Whoa! What is THAT? Is he a Devil Fruit user?" Luffy adjusted his hat seriously. He remembered Sandy telling him long ago: If you want to grow stronger, keep learning.
But... damn it... why does this guy breathe fire? That's not stretching!
He pointed at Franky. "What kind of monster are you?! Are you like Sandy—a double Devil—"
"HEY!" Sandy yelled, face dark. "Don't just make up abilities for me!"
"But, but—!" Luffy jabbed a finger. "Underpants man! What ARE you?!"
Underpants man?
Franky struck his iconic dancing pose. "Hmm? Are you praising me?"
"No! I'm definitely NOT praising you!"
Franky grinned. "Straw Hat Kid, listen well. I'm not a Devil Fruit user. I'm a cyborg. Get ready to face my wrath!"
"Cyborg?" Luffy clenched his fists. "I haven't even settled the score for what you did to Usopp! Gum-Gum…!"
Franky stretched out his mechanical arm. "I know your tricks already! STRONG RIGHT!"
Before Luffy finished his sentence—
BAM!
—Franky's fist socked him straight in the jaw again.
"LUFFY!!" Nami cried. He didn't look this weak normally!
Sandy didn't move. He knew Luffy too well. Luffy was probably testing Franky's strength… or mesmerized by Franky's weirdness… or maybe—no, there was no maybe. Luffy was just being Luffy.
Sandy sighed and casually pulled a small folding table out of his spatial backpack, setting down two cups of hot tea.
"What are you doing?" Nami asked.
"Watching the show." Sandy sat, pouring tea for them both.
Franky glanced over, confused and annoyed. "Hey, kid! Your Captain's getting beaten. Why are you relaxing?!"
"PISTOL!!"
Luffy's punch smashed Franky right in the mouth mid-sentence, sending him flying into a pile of lumber.
Sandy raised his teacup. "Correct answer."
"Oi, Sandy!!" Luffy ran back. "Give me a cup too! Your tea is the best!"
Nami slapped her forehead. "What is wrong with both of you?! Do you two even understand the situation?!"
"Yes." Franky growled, getting up again. "I've been underestimated! This week, NO ONE can stop Super Franky!!"
"Wait! I'm not done drinking!!" Luffy yelled as he burned his tongue on the tea. "Hot hot hot—!!"
Even Sandy and Nami fell silent at the stupidity unfolding.
"You bastard, be serious! STRONG HEAVY PUNCH!"
The battle began again.
After trading blows for a while, Luffy shouted, "I'm knocking you out today!"
Franky laughed. "Try it! Your punches don't work on me!"
"Big Bro! Good luck!" the two Franky Family girls cheered.
Sandy shouted too. "Go Luffy! Punch the underpants man!"
Franky suddenly twisted his arms. "Left-hand weapon!"
Luffy's eyes widened. "Huh?!"
A cannon fired from Franky's forearm.
Luffy dodged instinctively. "Gum-Gum Whip!!"
"Heh." Franky blocked Luffy's kick and grappled him.
"Ahhh!!"
"Stop! You're going too far!"
"Not good! The tools—!"
The fight destroyed part of Dock 1's equipment.
But then—
BOOM!
The five strongest shipwrights of Dock 1 suddenly arrived and punched both Luffy and Franky away in one blow.
Barry stepped forward, glaring. "Look at this mess! Straw Hat Luffy, what's your purpose for coming here?!"
"Purpose?" Luffy blinked blankly. "Uh…?"
