While Luffy was fighting Blueno, back on Zoro's side, the group was about to charge forward—only for a fresh wave of guards to block their path.
In an instant, the street flooded with Marines, surrounding the Straw Hat Pirates.
Just as the two sides were about to clash, two Sea Kings—brought by the Franky Family—burst out from the flanks.
Zoro and the others quickly climbed onto the back of one of the Sea Kings.
"Catch!" Barry tossed down a rope and pulled Zoro and the others up.
"Don't forget what you came here for," Barry warned. "This isn't your stage to perform on."
Sanji nodded. "Yeah… if we had to deal with this many enemies, the sun would set before we finished."
"Chef-kun," Barry said, "the reins are yours."
Sanji blinked. "You guys?"
Barry smirked. "If you see them, tell them this from me: 'You're fired.'"
Zoro laughed. "Got it."
Three Galley-La shipwrights then jumped down to block the Marine pursuit from behind, buying time for the Straw Hats.
Meanwhile, the Franky Family, riding the second Sea King, headed toward the courthouse to lower the drawbridge to the Tower of Justice.
The Rocketman that crashed earlier wasn't actually broken—Kokoro restarted it, preparing to launch again over the drawbridge, just in case it couldn't be lowered.
At the same time, in the building where Franky and Robin were held, Robin's hands were bound with Sea-Prism Stone.
But they didn't know Franky was a cyborg. He blasted the wall apart with Coup de Vent, escaping with Robin in tow.
In the courthouse where Luffy was, Sandy and Luffy were on one side, while the building opposite was where Robin was being held.
After Luffy defeated Blueno, Sandy appeared beside him.
"Sandy?" Luffy asked. "Where are the others?"
"They're below," Sandy said. "They should make it here soon. By the way, you look exhausted."
"Baka," Luffy groaned. "Is this the time to talk about that? We need to hurr—"
Sandy tossed him a roasted hound he just finished cooking.
Luffy caught it instantly and started scarfing it down. "Sorry for complaining!"
Sandy rolled his eyes. "Eat slower, idiot. How many times have I told you? Here—there's cola too."
While Luffy ate, Sandy's mind drifted. Robin's emotional burden… and something else: a secret he had recently realized.
There's a hard limit on how much Haki can be used in a short time.
Just like Conqueror's Haki—he couldn't release it now at all.
No wonder Whitebeard didn't unleash his Conqueror's Haki during Marineford…
He needed to use it for coating, and Haki had a cap—
Like… well, like a man running out of bullets!
"Woo, I'm full!" Luffy said, patting his stomach. "Alright, next—"
Just then, Robin and Franky appeared on the opposite building. But Robin's expression was painfully off.
"Robin?" Luffy said. "Franky's there too. Okay, wait there! I'll jump over and save you right—"
Sandy stayed silent. Zoro and the others still weren't here. And he knew—he and Luffy alone couldn't break Robin's fear.
Suddenly, Robin shouted.
"STOP! How many times do I have to say it?! I won't go back with you! Go back—I don't want to see you anymore! Why did you come to save me?! Why?! I never asked for this! When did I ever ask you to do this?!"
Luffy froze.
Sandy felt a splitting headache. How were they supposed to convince her…?
Then Robin screamed.
"I WANT TO DIE!"
Clap clap clap…
"Ahahaha! Hahaha!"
Spandam walked out clapping, laughing wildly. "How entertaining! What are these idiots doing? Ahahaha!"
Franky stepped forward. "What do you mean by that?! They risked their lives to get here, and you—"
"That's them looking for trouble," Robin cut in coldly.
"Nani?!" Franky shouted. "Don't joke aroun—"
Kaku then walked out and stomped Franky's face, kicking him aside. "Don't block the way."
"Hahaha!" Jabura laughed. "Kaku, are you venting? Upset after eating that weird Devil Fruit?"
It turned out Spandam had handed out Devil Fruits as rewards to CP9.
Kaku scoffed. "You're annoying. I'm very satisfied."
One by one, CP9 lined up along the railing beside Robin.
Kalifa asked, "What, the enemies are just those two over there?"
"Yo yo yi!" Wanze shouted. "Pretty impressive they got this far."
"Really," Jabura snickered. "Blueno was defeated. What an idiot."
Lucci said, "Did he get rusty after playing bartender for five years?"
Kaku added, "Even rusty, he shouldn't lose like that."
"Yahahahaha!" Spandam cackled. "Excellent! CP9 is assembled! But don't rush—we're watching a far more interesting show right now. Nothing beats this!"
Jabura cracked his knuckles. "Chief, I could just rush over and wipe them out."
"Wait," Spandam said. "They came all this way to save their comrade… only for their comrade to reject them. Isn't that beautiful? Isn't that entertaining?"
"Robin!" Luffy shouted. "What are you talking about dying—"
"Yahahaha!" Spandam laughed, approaching the edge. "Listen to that despair! I wonder how broken their faces loo—"
He looked down over the wall.
Luffy and Sandy were…
picking their noses.
"They're—they're PICKING THEIR NOSES?!"
Spandam shrieked, snot flying.
Ignoring Spandam entirely, Luffy said, "Robin! What are you talking about? We came all this way already. We're saving you no matter what. And if you still wanna die, then do it AFTER we save you, okay?"
Rumble—!!
Suddenly, Nami and Chopper were blasted upward by a huge gust of air from behind Luffy and Sandy.
It was Zoro.
After wandering for who-knows-how-long (lost, obviously), he grew annoyed and simply cut open the ceiling to reach them. At the same time, Sanji kicked his way up through another spot.
Sanji struck a "cool" pose, closed his eyes, and declared, "I must have arrived first. Robin! Sorry to keep you waiting. I'm coming to save—"
He opened his eyes…
and saw Zoro.
Sanji's soul left his body.
"Green Mosshead?! How the hell did YOU get here before ME?!"
Zoro scoffed. "Why are you so slow? Don't tell me YOU got lost."
"WH-WH-WH—WHAT?!" Sanji shouted. "Where did you learn that line?!"
"AAAHHH!!!"
Usopp suddenly flew up from below—launched into the air by the two giants he tricked into helping.
The Straw Hat Pirates had officially gathered.
