Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 - Were you a model?

Hearing my mother's words, I looked at her with sparkling eyes, like an abandoned puppy. That always works on her! If it were my father, it wouldn't work.

"Don't look at me like that. We don't even know if that guy actually works for Stardust Promotion. I don't believe such a big company would send someone to recruit random kids on the street."

What she said makes sense, but I'm almost certain that man works for Stardust Promotion. I'm also pretty sure that God—or that creature—is behind this. That man was sent to me.

I kept staring at my mother, and she asked, "Do you really want to do this? Why?" Since I hadn't brought my iPad, she handed me her phone so I could communicate.

I quickly typed:

[I think it would be fun to do something like that, don't you think?]

My mother read it and said, "I shouldn't have let you watch so much television. It's not that easy, Kyo. It's very hard to pass an audition. Besides, 99% of people who become actors or something like that never become famous. It's a difficult life."

Hearing her words, I asked:

[Have you ever done one of those auditions before, mom?]

"Of course I have! I was very pretty when I was young, so I was approached by many companies in the past. I managed to do some photoshoots for small clothing brands, but that's all."

[I didn't know that! I'm curious!]

"I don't have much to say about that time. It was before I met your father. The people at the company really liked my photos and asked me to audition for a TV series. It was just a role with one minute of screen time, but even then I didn't pass."

My mother gave an awkward laugh.

[Is it really that difficult?]

"Maybe I just didn't have talent for it."

[Why didn't you keep working as an model?]

"I simply didn't like that life. I had to follow strict diets, you know? And you know very well how much I love to eat!" My mother puffed her cheeks, and we both laughed inside the taxi.

The taxi driver, who had been listening, also laughed.

"But Kyo, do you really want to do this? If you do, I won't stop you. But before we contact that person, I'll ask your father to investigate it. If that man really is from Stardust Promotion, we'll get in touch."

I nodded and smiled.

Great, now I just need to wait.

But now… how am I going to do this?

If it's a commercial where I need to speak, that won't work.

As soon as I got home, I sat at the dining table and climbed onto a chair. I quickly took my notebook out of the box and turned it on. It had a very good SSD, so it booted up quickly.

When it turned on and I looked at the desktop, I got excited.

"Kyo, eat something first. Aren't you hungry?"

I didn't respond to my mother and kept using the notebook. I heard her sigh, and she went to her room.

I connected to the Wi-Fi and logged into my email. I hadn't received any new messages. From what I researched, publishers contact you by email if they want to publish your novel.

Next, I logged into my Shōsetsuka ni Narō account, and my eyes widened.

"Wait a second… is this right?"

I had a lot of notifications. When I opened the story stats, a smile appeared on my face. The views had surpassed 20,000, and the novel already had over 3,000 favorites.

That's incredible!

There were also many comments.

I smiled as I scrolled through them. There were a lot of compliments, which really boosted my ego. I know it's just a copy, but who cares? In this world, Overlord is MY story.

But I don't understand how this is possible.

Even though there are already 5 chapters with 3,000 words each, the story is still at the beginning. The development of the world and characters is minimal. Maybe my writing is just that good?

There were many compliments:

[Your writing is great, everything flows so smoothly!]

[The characters are captivating. I'm completely in love with Albedo. The way you described her is so vivid! It would be great if you could hire an artist to draw her!]

Someone replied:

[If you want to see what Albedo looks like, check out the profile "Kyo898920" on Twitter. It's the author's account! He posted art of Albedo and Shalltear! There's also new art of a character that hasn't appeared in the novel yet.]

After reading that, I immediately opened my Twitter.

I had many notifications, but one caught my attention.

I had been tagged by a page focused on light novels with over 200,000 followers.

[A new web novel was recently released on Shōsetsuka ni Narō, titled Overlord.

What's surprising is that the author @Kyo898920 has a Twitter account and posted character art even before publishing the novel.

Check out the art and the story! They are very talented!]

That post was a quote of my Albedo artwork.

It had over 10,000 likes and was posted just four hours ago. Many comments praising me caught my attention. It really boosted my ego.

It made me want to write.

With my notebook, I can write even faster!

I replied to the page:

[Yes, I'm the author of Overlord, and I'm also the one who made the artwork. Please continue supporting me!]

After that, my name started spreading even more in the web novel community, causing the favorites on my novel to grow exponentially.
