Night came, and using my notebook, I had already written four more chapters. So before going to dinner, I published a new chapter. Right after posting it, I closed my notebook and went to the dining table.
When I arrived, my mother said:
"I was talking to your father about the man we met today."
I tilted my head and looked at my father.
After smiling, he asked, "Is that really what you want? Do you want to take that audition? If you truly want to do it, I won't stop you."
"We talked it over and decided it's best to let you do what you want. Of course, only after we confirm whether that man really works for that company. Since you're very young, we think it's good for you to have all kinds of experiences."
She smiled and continued:
"Even though you're very young, you're very smart. You'll be able to make a decision after trying it at least once. But like I told you before, it's very difficult."
I picked up my iPad, wrote something, and showed it to my father.
"So you're asking if I knew your mother used to be a model? Of course I did. I still have some magazines saved."
[And what do you think about her giving up?]
"She quit before I met her. But to be honest, I'm glad she did. If she had continued and become a star, I probably wouldn't have been able to get close to her." He laughed.
"Idiot." My mother laughed as well.
The two of them get along so well—it's unbelievable.
It's great to have such a good family.
We continued eating, and after we finished, my mother brought a chocolate pudding for each of us. Before eating, I wrote something to my father on my iPad.
[Are you still reading my story?]
"Yes, I read the latest chapter you posted. Your story is growing a lot, isn't it? I remember only two people used to comment besides me, but in the last chapter there were more than fifty comments."
"Fifty comments?!" my mother exclaimed, surprised. "Does your story have that many readers?"
[Last time I checked, it had more than 3,000 favorites. There are a lot of readers even though it's still at the beginning.]
"Wow, that's impressive. How good is this story?"
"I don't have much experience with this kind of story, but I think it's very interesting and fun. It's very well written—it doesn't even seem like you wrote it. It feels like it was written by a professional author!"
[But I wrote it. And you're exaggerating.]
"I'm serious. The dialogues are great—better than some books I read in college. You also use complex words that a child your age shouldn't even know."
[I read a lot in my free time. I guess I learned how to 'copy' very well.]
"Hahaha, copy, huh? If you're copying some author's writing style, that author must be very good." My father laughed and didn't take it too seriously. He really thinks it's just talent.
[I hope you keep reading. I really like having you as my reader.] I wrote to him.
He gave a big smile and said:
"I'm not the only one reading it! I recommended your story to all my coworkers! Overlord, the best story you'll read in your life." my father said.
[Don't do that, it's embarrassing.]
"Hahaha, you're cute, Kyo. Don't be embarrassed—you should accept my compliments and feel proud."
[Thank you, dad. Thank you, mom.]
"What's this all of a sudden?" my mother asked, surprised.
[Thank you for all. You are the best parents I could have. I love you.]
It was the first time I said I loved them so directly.
After reading what I wrote, they were left speechless.

When I got to my room, I picked up my iPad and opened the novel site to see how the new chapter was being received.
I went straight to the comments. I had posted it only two hours ago, but there were already many comments.
[I came here because of that Twitter post. It's really very good! LOL]
[You're very good at describing scenes and building dialogue. You could even teach a course on how to improve in that area! (@^▽^@)ノ]
I checked that user's profile and found out he was a fellow writer. His novel had a little over 100 favorites and focused on teenage romance. Not really my type.
The other comments were all thanking me for the chapter and praising my writing.
It's surprising how many comments praise my writing. I've never stopped to read novels from this site—are they really that low quality? And what about light novels? Are they that bad?
I went to the homepage of Shōsetsuka ni Narō and checked the daily ranking.
I was surprised to see my work in 7th place. That's very good for a recent novel with so few chapters.
That free promotion on Twitter really helped!
I opened the novel that was in the ranking.
'I went to a fantasy world and received a legendary bear suit… Didn't something like this exist in my old world?'
I remember a web novel with a similar premise, though with a different name.
Maybe I'm imagining things.
After I started reading, I was surprised by the quality.
The writing quality of that author is similar to good web novel authors from my previous world.
From the pen name, it seems like a woman… Natsuki? Interesting.
Well, it's definitely a man.
After reading four chapters, I closed the site and turned off my iPad.
The next day, I was surprised by an email.
