TRANSITIONING FROM A HERO TO A VILLAIN
Chapter 19: The Wonder Brothers
Transition continued investigating the Python Paradox.
Leo Hamsting had given him several locations before his death, and Derek was now visiting those facilities one after another, searching for anything that could explain who was really behind the operation.
He entered another facility and began looking through the information Leo had left behind.
But Derek wasn't alone.
Two heroes appeared outside.
They were twin brothers known as the Wonder Brothers.
One controlled fire.
The other controlled ice.
They had heard about Transition's activities and decided to take him down. There was also a reward for defeating the powerful supervillain.
The brothers stepped into the facility.
"Transition!" one of them shouted.
Derek turned around.
The brothers stood side by side.
"Give up," said the fire brother. "Or face the consequences of your actions."
The ice brother continued.
"You've been invading private properties and taking files that don't belong to you. You've killed countless people along the way. You deserve to face justice."
Transition looked at them for a moment.
"What I'm doing is important."
He looked at their costumes.
"Although..."
He pointed at them.
"You people really, really need a better design than fire and ice."
The brothers looked at each other.
Transition smiled.
"I'll give you one thing, though."
He looked at their suits.
"Your suits are pretty good."
The fire brother became angry.
"Enough!"
Both brothers attacked simultaneously.
One launched a powerful stream of fire.
The other unleashed a massive blast of ice.
Transition didn't move.
The attacks reached him—
and disappeared.
Transition had activated his ability.
The fire and ice attacks suddenly changed locations.
The fire was redirected toward the ice brother.
The ice was redirected toward the fire brother.
The two attacks struck their respective targets.
The fire brother was hit by the freezing attack.
The ice brother was struck by the flames.
Both were knocked unconscious.
Transition calmly walked past them.
"Good powers."
He glanced back.
"Terrible strategy."
He continued gathering information from the facility.
Then he noticed the remaining flames spreading through part of the area.
Transition raised his hand.
"Let's clean that up."
The remaining fire disappeared as he transitioned it away.
He looked back at the unconscious brothers.
A cold smile appeared on his face.
"You came here looking for a villain."
He raised his hand.
"It's time to play God."
Transition activated his ability.
The Wonder Brothers disappeared.
A moment later, they were transported to a remote volcanic region where an eruption was imminent.
Transition had researched the location beforehand.
He knew exactly what kind of environment he was sending them into.
He lowered his hand.
"They wanted me to face the consequences of my actions."
He turned back toward the facility.
"They should have considered the consequences of attacking me."
Transition returned to his investigation.
The Wonder Brothers were gone.
And Derek still hadn't found the person truly responsible for the Python Paradox.
"Now..."
He picked up another file.
"Who is actually behind this?"
