Chapter 460 - [461] : A Sigh

"Sizzle."

The dragon's corpse lay embedded in the crater created by its fall, the high temperature causing steam to rise from the pit's edges.

Though already dead, its massive body and lingering aura still filled every intelligent creature with instinctive, bone-deep dread.

And the black knight who had slain it was clearly even more terrifying.

The crowd around him automatically bowed their heads, not daring to show any disrespect.

"Ha!"

Just then, a black cat quickly darted past the prostrate crowd, past the exhausted Anderson, and past the knight who seemed like the Grim Reaper himself, running straight to the dragon's enormous head.

"Bam! Bam!"

Under the astonished gazes of the onlookers, the black cat first sniffed at the dragon's head, then raised its front paw and fiercely swatted the dragon's skull!

Everyone was dumbstruck.

This cat was incredibly bold!

"Stop fooling around, it's been dead for a while now."

Silas said to Luna, his tone somewhat helpless.

"Meow~"

Only after confirming the dragon was completely motionless did the black cat Luna turn and run back to Silas's feet, affectionately rubbing her body against his leg armor, as if protecting him.

Silas dismissed the black armor covering his body and bent down to scoop up Luna.

He looked down at the dragon's corpse.

"Aren't you going to graze it?"

Anderson asked, clutching his arm as he limped over.

A demigod-level sheep, its value was beyond question.

Although Silas could use the authority of that ocean to achieve similar abilities, activating "Grazing" would obviously be more convenient and effortless.

Grazing [Gluttony] was perfectly reasonable.

So Silas raised his hand and opened his palm toward the corpse.

"Whoosh"

Without warning, a phantom tide gently echoed in his mind.

At the same moment the tide sounded, Silas suddenly sensed that someone was watching him from behind.

That gaze was calm and indifferent, devoid of any human emotion.

Who?!

A cold, shuddering sensation rapidly crawled up his spine and exploded in his head.

Silas immediately turned around, lowering his hand to look behind him.

But all he saw was the frightened crowd; he found no one spying on him.

The sound of the tide automatically receded, and the feeling of being watched had already vanished.

"What's wrong?"

Anderson was startled by his sudden movement.

"Buzz!"

Silas didn't answer.

He directly activated his ability, making his eyes glow with golden radiance.

He carefully examined the surroundings but still found nothing.

"Did you see that?"

He asked urgently into the empty space beside him.

"See what?"

Ma'am M materialized, tilting her head as she asked.

She didn't notice?

Silas could feel his heart pounding violently.

That gaze hadn't carried much pressure, yet it made him feel danger from the depths of his being, as if it were a powerful warning from his spiritual instincts.

But now, that gaze had disappeared without a trace, as if everything had been his imagination.

Am I being paranoid?

Of course not!

Someone must have been watching me, wanting to do me harm!

Silas thought coldly.

If his condition wasn't so poor right now, and if he knew the opponent's strength and location, he would have launched an attack already!

After checking the surroundings several times like this, he maintained his vigilance while slowly turning his gaze back to [Gluttony]'s corpse.

Its soul was continuously dissipating; if he didn't hurry and graze it soon, it would be too late.

But Silas began to hesitate.

He suddenly felt that this creature's appearance was far too coincidental.

He had just advanced, just arrived at the nearest island, and it had appeared on its own, with abilities that happened to be countered by his own, as if it had been deliberately delivered for him to graze.

Free things are often the most expensive.

Thinking back to [Gluttony]'s terrified transformation before death, it also seemed to hint at the fact that it had been set up by someone.

Perhaps some peculiar "influence" had been added to this creature's soul that would produce dangerous consequences when it came into contact with his own.

Then let's first hear what [Gluttony] itself has to say!

"Whoosh!"

Silas opened his hand, creating a cold wind to forcibly extract [Gluttony]'s soul.

He planned to use "Spirit Communication" to speak with [Gluttony] and figure out what problems might exist!

"Sigh"

Just then, from somewhere in the ether, someone seemed to sigh.

At the edge of the crowd, a figure dressed in the white robes of clergy appeared to turn and leave, a white hem flashing past the corner of a wall.

"Bang!"

The next instant, [Gluttony]'s soul in Silas's hand immediately exploded, completely annihilated.

"Who's there?"

Even Anderson sensed something was wrong. He strained to squeeze out his spirituality, creating fireballs around himself.

"Put them away."

Silas shook his head. "That person has already left."

This time his spirituality gave more concrete feedback; the being that had been watching him seemed to have departed.

As expected, [Gluttony] had been sent over by that person.

He felt a chill run through him. This was a demigod, and yet it had been discarded so casually?

Everything around was quiet.

The people didn't know what Silas was doing, but they didn't dare move carelessly either.

They could only endure and wait for him to decide their fate. The oppression brought by a demigod powerhouse was just that terrifying.

Silas wasn't sure whether that being had truly left or was still watching him from somewhere.

But he couldn't do nothing just because of that presence.

So, while maintaining some vigilance, he walked over to the person who appeared to have the highest status among those present, the local Storm Church bishop.

"Were you the one who organized this hunt?"

His eyes flickered with golden light as he asked directly.

"No, the leader was this person."

The bishop answered cooperatively, pointing to the unconscious Chief Executive Carter not far away, from whom a distinctly foul odor was emanating from this once-dignified gentleman.

Silas turned his golden eyes toward him.

"Ah!"

Thus, Carter slowly awakened from his unconscious state.

When he saw Silas approaching, he couldn't help but let out a shrill scream. "Blood Reverend, Blood Reverend!"

"Quiet."

The noise was giving Silas a headache, so he activated hypnosis to control Carter.

He quickly reviewed the man's memories and discovered they had been modified; he had no recollection of anything related to [Gluttony].

The Spectator pathway is really annoying.

He shook his head and turned to the bishop beside him.

"Is there anything else you need to tell me?"

"This morning, before launching the ambush, I sent a telegram to Bayam.

I reported to His Excellency Kottman that the [Blood Reverend] was suspected to have appeared on Toscarter Island.

According to the reply, His Excellency Kottman has already departed."

"Kottman? The Archbishop of the Rorsted Archipelago?"

Anderson was so shocked he almost jumped. "This is bad, the 'Sea King' is coming!"
