Chapter song: COMË N GO - Yeat
Kenneth felt a familiar spark of interest in his chest. This was closer to the kind of combat he understood. Another slide appeared showing different stances.
"Form changes too," Matthews added. "You will keep your center low. Creatures attack the legs more often than humans."
Nadya nodded once."Which means balance is survival." The next slide appeared. A diagram of several cadets arranged in a formation. "Most importantly," she continued, "you will rarely fight alone inside a gate."
She pointed at the diagram. "Formation combat." The cadets leaned forward slightly.
"You will learn how to move as a unit. How to rotate positions, protect your rear guard, and create openings for Strikers to eliminate threats."
Micah crossed his arms, clearly enjoying the attention. "And sometimes," Nadya added calmly, "you'll learn when to run."
A few cadets blinked while Matthews nodded.
"Retreat is not failure." Nadya's gaze hardened slightly. "It's survival."
