On top of the stairs, leaning against the wall, a familiar alpha stood like a gatekeeper. "Did you wait for me?" Eugene asked.
"Well...I'm supposed to guide you," Arthur shrugged.
Eugene chuckled; he tilted his head with the remaining smile as he looked at the alpha. "Right, it really is a fate."
"Huh?"
"That guy..." Eugene glanced back. "You actually sat in his seat that night at the bar."
Arthur arched his brow. "The one who ditched you for some...daddy or something?"
Eugene couldn't help but laugh. "Yeah. He is actually still with that person."
"Ah, that other guy?" Arthur snapped his fingers, remembering the man who kept apologizing in panic at the commotion that Eugene and his old friend made.
"Yeah," Eugene took a deep breath at the end of his laughter. A shadow fell on his cheeks as his lashes lowered wistfully, despite the smile on his lips. "Funny, isn't it?"
