A full year had passed since Vegeta left for the God of Destruction Realm.
During this time, Earth remained peaceful, with no major crises.
Meanwhile, Goku was also undergoing his own training.
"Ugh… so boring."
After finishing his training that day, Goku felt restless all over.
"I really want to find someone and have a good fight."
The first person that came to mind was Vegeta.
"I wonder how Vegeta's been training this past year. Hehehe… he must've gotten a lot stronger."
The more Goku thought about it, the more excited he became.
"Nope, I can't take it anymore! I'm going to find him!"
"Bulma! I'm here!" Not long after, Goku's figure appeared in the courtyard of Capsule Corporation.
"Hi, Bulma!"
He enthusiastically waved at Bulma, who was enjoying afternoon tea on the lawn.
"Goku? Why are you suddenly here?" Bulma was startled by his sudden appearance.
"I came to fight Vegeta!" Goku said matter-of-factly.
"Where is he? Why can't I sense his ki?"
He looked around, frowning.
There was no trace of Vegeta's presence at all.
"Vegeta…?" A hint of awkwardness flashed in Bulma's eyes.
She put down her teacup and replied casually, "Oh, him? He went out to train."
"Training? Where did he go?" Goku asked curiously.
"A… well, a very faraway place," Bulma answered vaguely.
She had promised Vegeta to keep it secret.
With his pride, there was no way he'd want Goku to know that he went to serve a God of Destruction just to earn a training opportunity.
"A very faraway place?" Goku closed his eyes and carefully sensed again.
"That's weird. I really can't feel him at all."
He opened his eyes, more puzzled than before.
"Bulma, where did Vegeta go? Nothing bad happened to him, right?"
"Of course not!" Bulma raised her voice slightly, guilt creeping in.
"He's totally fine! He just went to a… very special place to train. It blocks all ki, that's why you can't sense him."
"Ohhh." Goku nodded, half-understanding.
But he still wasn't satisfied.
"So when's he coming back? I haven't fought him in almost a year. My body's getting rusty!"
"This…" Bulma hesitated. "I don't know either. Maybe soon… or maybe it'll take a long time."
"A long time?!" Goku's face instantly fell.
"That won't do! I can't wait that long!"
He leaned closer, looking at Bulma with pleading eyes.
"Bulma, just tell me. Where did Vegeta go? I promise I'll only fight him a little! I won't cause trouble!"
"I told you I don't know!" Bulma felt a headache coming on.
"You definitely know!" Goku insisted.
"Every time you lie, your eyes dart to the left! You just did it three times!"
"I—I didn't!" Bulma flushed, silently cursing this idiot for suddenly becoming so observant.
"You did!" Goku continued shamelessly.
"Come on, Bulma! Aren't we good friends? How can you watch me die of boredom like this?"
"Dad went to a really amazing place!" Just as Bulma was about to give in, a childish voice rang out.
Little Trunks ran out of the villa, holding a toy robot.
"Trunks!" Bulma's heart sank.
"A really amazing place?" Goku's eyes instantly lit up.
He picked Trunks up with a grin.
"Trunks! Tell Uncle—where did your dad go?"
"Mom said I'm not allowed to say…"
Trunks glanced at Bulma, hesitating.
"It's okay!" Goku coaxed.
"Just whisper it to Uncle. I promise I won't tell anyone!"
"Really?"
"Really! Pinky promise!"
"…Okay." Trunks leaned close to Goku's ear and whispered, "Dad went to a place called the God of Destruction Realm to train with Mr. Whis."
"…What?" Goku froze.
Bulma covered her face and groaned.
It's over.
Completely over.
This little traitor!
"The God of Destruction Realm?!" Goku repeated it, his expression shifting rapidly—from confusion, to shock, and finally to uncontrollable anger.
"Whis?! That Vegeta actually ran off to train with the God of Destruction?!"
Goku spun around and stared at Bulma.
"Bulma! Is this true?!"
At this point, there was no use hiding it.
Bulma sighed and nodded helplessly.
"…It's true."
"DAMN IT!!!" Goku jumped three feet into the air, pacing frantically across the lawn.
"That Vegeta! He's way too sneaky! Sneaking off by himself to train in such an insane place! And he didn't even tell me!
I thought of him as my best rival! And he goes behind my back to get private lessons?! That's way too much!"
The more Goku thought about it, the angrier he became.
While he was training on Earth—
Vegeta was training in the realm of the gods, guided by an Angel.
Wasn't the gap just getting bigger and bigger?!
"No! Absolutely not!" Goku suddenly stopped and looked at Bulma seriously.
"I want to go too! Bulma, you can contact Mr. Whis, right? Help me call him! I want to train in the God of Destruction Realm too!"
"…Goku." Bulma looked at him, utterly exasperated.
"Do you think the God of Destruction Realm is some tourist spot? Vegeta paid a huge price for that opportunity."
"A price?" Goku blinked.
"What price? As long as I can get stronger, I'll pay anything!"
Bulma hesitated.
She briefly recalled Vegeta bowing ninety degrees like his life depended on it.
…Better not say that.
"It's not that simple," Bulma said instead.
"Anyway, Mr. Whis is very interested in Earth's food. According to what he said, he'll come back regularly to collect delicacies.
Judging by the timing, it should be within the next two days. So stop rushing. When he comes, you can ask him yourself."
Goku's eyes lit up instantly.
"Really?! Great! Then I'll wait right here!"
