"Make sure to lose quickly, there are other races I have to do." Adrian mused, his tone dripping with arrogance as he tightened his grip on the wheel. Andrew on the other hand was in a tuned black low positioned car with a modern flair while Adrian was no longer in his muscle car but rather a sleek well raised car. It's design screaming of luxury as it contrasted with the darkness that awaited to swallow the two. The two had already been introduced to the track, one that remained mostly on the outskirts of the city to avoid police detection.
The race consisted of twists and turns as well as straight miles. "Are both racers ready?" A lady asked, her tone sweet in her hands a green flag. The two revved their engines, ready to tear the track ahead.
"Go!" The announcement letting the two cars jet into the darkness, the lights and noise fading into the distance. Adrian easily took the lead, a smirk on his face as the experience of racing on the track showing, his turns dangerously bold and his speed high.
Andrew on the other hand didn't lag that far behind, just behind Adrian who had thought would struggle to keep up. "Looks like he is a good driver then." Adrian chuckled as he pressed his foot down, the car reacting accordingly and picking up the pace.
The first part of the track consisted of dangerous turns in the barren wastelands that provided the perfect race track for illegal racing. With cameras erected here and there, the choice of skipping parts wasn't available. Brittany was in the same room, looking at the screen that showed the progress of the two.
'Still on me?' Adrian's smile quickly turned into irritation as he kept on taking the corners with skill, but as always Andrew was right behind him. The two cars racing on murram, kicking dust in the night and filling the air with their roars.
"Looks like this kid isn't that bad of a racer." One of many that were watching the race unfold commented. A corner came, Adrian with his confidence had underestimated the tight turn and went off the track letting Andrew take the lead.
"Damn it! Luckily I had his car rigged so he won't get far." Adrian driving back into the track, now tailing Andrew who took the corners a little too perfect that subtly unnerved Adrian. 'Has he raced on this track because there's no way he's this good.'
His conclusion natural as Andrew began to pull away from Adrian, the gap between the two increasing. 'What's the use if his car is tampered with.' Brittany wondered as she saw Andrew pull ahead. His skills in driving had taken her by surprise but after realizing that he wasn't quite human, the realization settled in pretty quickly.
After the quick turns were behind him, what was presented to them was a long stretch that poured the two into a highway that went on for three miles before taking an exit and back into the murram track.
Andrew though arriving first faced the problem of inferiority where his opponent had a huge advantage in. It wasn't long in the three mile sprint that Adrian caught up and overtook him. Andrew tailed him, the distance between the two growing with Andrew falling further and further behind. "When is that thing going to go off? His car should have broken down by now." Adrian pondered as he looked at his rear view mirror, the lights of the Andrew's car flashing back at him in a menacing light.
Adrian's attention instantly shot back in front as police lights lit up in the distance making him brake. Andrew who was behind him did a quick 180 turn and started to drive back. "Get out of the car with your hands in the air!" An officer shouted in their mega phone, their car blocking the way forward. Adrian began to reverse, cursing as he turned his car around started to slowly catch up with Andrew.
"Do you have anything to do with this?!" Adrian shouted at Andrew, his window lowered but Andrew on the other hand was busy with the road and without warning took a sharp left taking an exit off the bridge. Facing no answer, Adrian reached for his phone speeding on incoming traffic.
"Hello? Matteo? What the fuck happened to rigging his car?!" Adrian was met with silence which further infuriated him. In his mind, he had planned it for this race to end with Andrew forfeiting given his car would break down and he would automatically win but what transpired wasn't something he could have foreseen.
"What are these cops doing all the way out here and not in the city?!" He had already concluded that he was set up but the perpetrator still a mystery.
*Honk*
A trailer flashed it's lights at Adrian who had his attention split, his hand placing his phone back on the dash board. By the time he saw the on coming truck, the speed of his car was too much and he ended up grazing the trailer that sent his car tumbling across the empty road before tipping over the bridge and down to the lake before.
. . .
"Gah!" A cough escaped Adrian's lips accompanied with a mouthful of water, his clothes drenched as he broke into a frenzy of coughs His body dragged into a sleek car, his figure drenching the seat before the car sped off into the dirt wastelands. After catching his breathe, he looked at his supposed saviour who turned out to be Andrew, his focus concentrated on the road in front of him.
"You, why did you save me?!" His throat raspy from his fervent coughs only to be met with silence. The car hopped in the small dunes, it's direction not back to the hide out but rather into the city. Adrian wanted his questions answered but aware of the moment kept his mouth shut.
It wasn't long before sirens blared behind them, Adrian's face etched with worry as the two sped crazy into the city, their speed constant. The one cop quickly turned into three, persistent with their hunt as Andrew remained ahead. Adrian hadn't expected much from Andrew but the way he took his turns, his face cool in the heat suggested that it wasn't his first time engaging in such an act.
His turns quick, the car as time pressed on felt more like an extension of the driver rather than a beast under control. 'Did he plan this all out?' Given how Andrew never hesitated with his turns or slowing down, Adrian thought that he had anticipated such an outcome.
It wasn't long before the cops lost them, the skills and precision too much for them. After the chase the car quietly drive back to a parking lot replacing the groan of the car with silence. "Did you plan this all out and make me look like a fool? Because if so then-" Andrew already killed the ignition handed Adrian the keys and got out.
"Hey, I'm talking to you! I have questions! Why did you save me?" Adrian shouted, his hands on the car roof coated with dust, his figure still drenched. "It would be best for you to go back home. No need to worry about Brittany." Adrian however wasn't taking that for an answer as he closed the car door and caught up to Andrew, cutting him off.
"I've had just about enough with you and your silence!" Andrew ignored Adrian as he walked around him but e every time he tries to leave, he would be cut off by Adrian. The young man grew weary of asking Andrew questions only to be met with his indifferent glare. With his head rushing and anger pent up, Adrian threw the first punch.
*Whoosh*
Adrian's attack met air, Andrew dodging back. Before Adrian could realize that he had missed, he was met with a powerful jab to his jaw that tipped him to the concrete floor. Andrew placed himself on Adrian's waist, his eyes locking with his.
*Bam*
The first punch landed, Adrian tried to hit back but Andrew's unresponsive nature made his attacks seem weightless. As if in retaliation, Andrew landed another fist, harder than the first knocking a tooth.
*Bam*
Adrian felt his head lighten, the world spinning before another punch jolted him back. He landed a punch on Andrew's stomach however Andrew didn't react, landing another punch that brought his hand crashing to the ground. Andrew went about this for minutes, Adrian long losing his will to fight with his face now plagued with bruises.
Even after Adrian fell unconscious Andrew went on with his barrage of attacks, his stamina seemingly endless before he stopped. He stood, his hands dripping with blood and the mess on the floor was bleeding from his head orifice save his eyes. Be it his ears, his nose or his mouth, they all bled out creating rivulets of blood flow across the parking lot.
Andrew showed no form of ecstasy on his face, the usual apathetic visage present before walking away.
. . .
"It's pretty late Andrew. You don't mind me asking where you've been, right?" A voice echoed from the couch, the television illuminating the sitting room, the channel touching on a speeding car that rampaged through the city. "I was driving, nothing to worry yourself over." Andrew made his way to the sink, washing Adrian's blood off his hands.
Kevin rose, his figure creating a shadow that masked Andrew's figure. "It would be a shame if Clara found about this." Andrew's response within Kevin's expectations. "She would be devastated." Andrew's figure making his way to his bedroom. 'You really think that I won't tell her any of this, huh?' Kevin mused in his mind as he saw Andrew's retreating figure.
The television touched more about the base that housed the races and such however Kevin seemed way too distant to care as he turned off the television and went to sleep.
. . .
It was morning, Clara busy with her breakfast while Andrew and Kevin dined in silence. "You really shouldn't be pushing yourself like this Andrew. After all I should be the one cooking for you." Clara urged as she rose to her feet, placing her plate in the sink and reached for her bag.
Kevin balled his fists, his gaze narrowing on Andrew who seemed indifferent on Kevin's reaction. " Mom, it was Andrew who was in the underground race all over the news." Clara halted, her figure bending over and putting on her shoes. "Kevin, what are you talking about?"
Kevin reached for the remote and turned it in on which spoke about the pursuit, the black super car speeding through the streets. "What is this all about Kevin?" Kevin let out a sigh, cupping his face before gesturing at Andrew. "Ask him, he'll admit that he was the one driving like that." The footage on the television dash board cameras tailing the car in chase.
Clara hesitated as she looked at Andrew, her voice lowering. "Did…is that you driving?" Andrew done with his meal looked at the television before back at Clara who was praying for his answer to be no. "Yes, that's me." His confession casual as if talking about the weather.
Clara's lips parted in disbelief, her eyes flickering at the screen that showed the car taking corners way too sharp but way too perfectly. "Is this how you make your money?" Andrew shook his head. "Then what is this Andrew?!" Her hurry quickly evaporating while Kevin leaned back into his chair, watching the scene unfold with a small smile plastered on his lips.
"A dare I had at school. There's no need to worry about my identity being revealed." Clara found his calm voice callous given the situation. "Do you know that is enough to have you expelled?" Andrew gave a nod which elicited a groan from Clara.
"From now on, no running out and any time you do, you have to tell me where you're going. Got it?" Clara's tone laced with reprimand. "Understood." Clara wanted to dwell more but it dawned on her about her job. "We'll talk later about this when I get back." The door slamming shut behind her.
Andrew grabbed his back and left like routine, no hatred or glares thrown at Kevin who had his smile replaced with a frown.'What just happened?'
