Chapter 22 - Chapter 22: Fractures Beneath the Surface

The day went on as normal, the cops that Kevin had anticipated to come to school never came. At home the scolding he had prepared himself to see similar as well. With Andrew being lectured on the importance of picking his friends well. The one addressed even brought up his appointment with Brittany and shockingly enough he was permitted to leave.

"Are you just going to let him have his way like this?" Kevin urged, his tone laced with pent up rage. "What do you mean?" Clara asked, taking sips of tea that Andrew had made for her. "Two months grounded and what does he get, a slap on the wrist. To tell you that he has to report to you? What kind of parenting is this?!" Clara turned her back facing her son, the rage on his face glaring.

"Parenting? Since when did you have the authority to question how I punish Andrew? And besides he's rather peculiar to tackle unlike you. He's still trying to get his bearings with others. He may be susceptible to peer pressure among other things so I can't face him the same way I face you." Her words resulting with Kevin gnashing his teeth, his brows furrowing.

"Oh, I'm starting to see why Lara left like she did! What kind of parent are you to let Andrew do as he please while I face the brunt of your harsher punishments?" Clara looked at Kevin, really looked before it clicked. "Look, I understand that it may seem unfair right now but I want you to think of Andrew as a kid and you as his older brother."

"He may be a bit lost on somethings and I want you to be there for him. To help guide him when I'm not there." Her tone turning soft that chipped at Kevin's rage. "Guide him? With what? He seems to be doing just fine. Be it his tests or his whatever he does after school like underground racing and such." His rage though subsiding could still be felt within his words.

Clara inched closer to Kevin, cupping his face with a warm smile replacing her frown. "Look, I know that I haven't been there for you as of late and Lara leaving out of the blue hasn't helped either but you have to be strong." Kevin let out a sigh, his fists still balled. "I read you better than anyone Kevin and what I feel from this rage is nothing more than jealousy dear.I get that I'm going easy on him but that won't be the case for long. However till then you can't let this rage consume you."

Kevin backed up, breaking from her mother's touch as he sat down. "I…I guess Lara being gone did affect me somehow." Clara sat next to him, placing a palm on his lap. "It's not just you but I as well. As much as I hate to admit this, I actually miss your banters." A laugh escaped Kevin's lips, memories surfacing.

"How about we go for a day out, with Andrew going to meet with Brittany, we could have our own day. A mother and son day. Like the ones we used to have way back then." Kevin felt the space between them, felt the sincerity before it hit him. The silence that harmless at first began to eat away at his sanity. He thought that silence was what he needed after Trevor's nagging but now, the silence felt far more oppressive and numbing than the noise.

"I guess some fresh air is needed." A chuckle from the two filled the air before Andrew entered, back from an errand run. "Andrew, I was thinking of having a day where we could all go out." Clara urged as she rose to his feet, breaking away from Kevin's touch. "I'd have to pass aunt Clara." His monotone voice now grating to Kevin.

"Oh, then if you happen to change your mind then don't hesitate to tell me. After all it's been a while since the two of you hung out with school around." Andrew gave a hum before excusing himself. Kevin looked at his hand, the way her mother had broken away when interacting with Andrew. Discomfort crept up when her mother proposed to Andrew about joining them, luckily for him Andrew shut down the offer.

"As much as I'd like to force him, he's an adult." Clara mused as she reached for her tea. "Don't worry, I let Andrew help me funds wise so I could take it easy and not have to worry about work." The television was on, the hot topic talking about the kidnappings stopping for two days now and briefly talking about the pursuit.

Though the news anchor was nothing more than background noise, a flicker of rage flashed across Kevin's face. 'Andrew, Andrew, Andrew. Why is everything always about him? What about me?' The fact that Andrew had turned down Clara's offer evaporating in his mind.

'What's so great about him anyway? It isn't that hard to stay silent and do things?! I still can't believe that he managed to catch Brittany's attention. Not to mention his money.' He was at first with the idea of Andrew using his money to help them but now, what that did seemed to further centralize him which only irked Kevin further.

'Andrew…maybe it would have been best if you had never returned.' He was done trying to reunite with Andrew, coming to terms that the Andrew he knew and loved from back then was never coming back and what took it's place was something he hated with each and every fibre of his being. 'I'll make sure to surpass you Andrew, I promise!'

. . .

*Ding*

Brittany was met with Andrew's figure, still stunned that he actually went along with her plan of ditching his one and only ticket of joining the chess tournament to be with her. "I thought that you would opt out last second but here you are." A smile forming on her lips as she led him in. His movements casual as if he owned the place before making their way to Brittany's room.

"If you're wondering why it's not saturated with pink or red, I'm different" Her words meant to answer a question she thought he would have. "So how are we going to go about this?" The idea of eating Andrew never leaving her mind. "A swim would do. To help loosen your limbs and build your appetite." He made his way to her bathroom with his duffel bag and switching to a pair of sky blue trunks.

Brittany scanned his body, well built yes but not sculpted. "Not a bad body Andrew." Her smile vanishing as she pushed him out."Now leave, I have to change too."

Andrew made his way downstairs and waited at the pool, his legs dipped with his torso looming over the edge and his reflecting perfectly shot back at him. "Well how do I look?" Brittany asked as she made her appearance, now adorned in a one piece swimsuit. Andrew lazily looked back, his beads scanning her figure. "Not bad." Brittany marched forward as if in offense of his words and without warning kicked Andrew into the pool.

*Splash*

Andrew surfaced without an issue before making his way to the edge where Brittany wore her prideful grin. "Next time when you're complementing me, not bad won't cut it." Now crouched and a bit closer, Andrew without warning grabbed her leg and dragged her in.

Her eyes popped wide open as she felt the sudden sensation of water all over her. Andrew however didn't let her go and dragged her down to the bottom. She tried to break from his grip, in her mind worrying that he planned on drowning her. Eventually Andrew chose to let her go and without hesitation she swam to the surface.

"Gah! What was that Andrew?!" Her brows furrowed as she coughed fervently, trying to catch her breathe. Andrew emerged silently behind her akin to a crocodile in still waters, playing with it's prey. "Testing your apnea." She swam to the edge, hauling herself over and sitting on the edge. "And drowning me was the way? You could have told me. I nearly died!"

Andrew watched her, only his head peeking above the surface. "You would have been fine." He sank back in as silently as he emerged. Brittany waited on the surface as minutes ticked by.

One minute, two, three, four. Before she knew it, fifteen minutes had passed and Andrew hadn't emerged. Her face slowly etched with horror as she called his name. "Andrew?!" Only the ripples of her legs were her answer. 'I can't believe that you're making me do this.' Holding her breathe, her figure shivered as she plunged herself back in.

She looked around before spotting him,he was near the bottom, his body suspended. She rushed over, thinking he had drowned but his half lid eyes and flinching fingers suggested otherwise. 'I guess he really isn't human to last this long.' Her figure drifting to the bottom before crashing with his. He quickly oriented himself while helping Brittany stop drifting.

Holding her in place, it was clear that he wanted her to wait with him at the bottom. Brittany waited and what felt more than five minutes had passed, the burning pain of her lungs that she had expected had yet to arrive. Five more minutes passed before it finally settled in, what began as a light ache quickly bloomed into agonizing agony that plagued her chest.

Andrew let her go, her head popping to the surface where a servant was waiting. "Miss, I thought you had drowned." Brittany flashed a disarming smile, her hands resting on the edge and serving as support for her chin. "I'm fine, no need to worry yourself so much." The maid placed the cool lemonade under the shade before leaving. Brittany greedily took in a mouthful of air before sinking back to the bottom.

This time she lasted fifteen minutes before surfacing now with Andrew. "For how long can you actually hold your breathe?" Her inquiry cut off with a sip of the refreshing drink, their bodies laid out underneath the sun. A faint breeze picked up sending shivers every once in a while to Brittany.

Her swim suit clung to her revealing her portions. Her breasts well rounded, her figure smooth and hourglass like with her glistening skin out on display. As for Andrew, his trunks stuck to his figure, the beads of water shimmering in the sunlight causing Brittany to steal glances at his body every so often.

"For as long as I need to." A gust of wind blew over the pool sending ripples across the surface. Brittany brought herself up and without warning straddled herself onto Andrew. "I've been thinking, since we're going to be interacting every so often, it wouldn't be shocking if things happened, right?" Her arms wrapping around his neck, her pearly teeth coming into Andrew's view. "It can't be helped."

His words serving as a signal for her to make the next move. "Have you ever had sex?" Her question casual as she leaned onto his figure, her mounds pressing onto his broad chest. "No." Her breathe brushing over his pinna, her words lowering. "Then this should be fun." She lowered her head, now on his neck level before flashing her teeth dug her teeth into his neck.

Warm blood poured into her mouth, a groan of pleasure filling the air before pulling back. "Since you've proven to be rather durable, you don't mind if I tested your limits Andrew." She didn't wait for his response as she reached for the glass, still half full before shattering it with the table. Grabbing a shard, she leaned in close once more. "Just tell me when to stop because I might get a bit carried away."

A low chuckle leaving her lips as she drove the piece of shard into Andrew's neck, widening the bite into a gash. Brittany lost in euphoria did as she pleased, drunk his blood till her mind went numb. At times she would cut bits of his flesh and soak them with his blood that burst akin to a fountain and ate them. It wasn't long before the two were covered in blood, Brittany dicing and drinking away while Andrew beneath her watched her high, expressionless.
