Chapter 149: Three-Star Dragon (Part 2)

"I hate light."

The dull voice rumbled from Three-Star Dragon's throat. Each breath sent the surrounding black mist churning violently.

As those words fell, Three-Star Dragon opened its massive jaws and inhaled deeply toward the energy barrier before it. The light radiating from the shield began flickering, then—like being drained away—started flowing directly into the dragon's mouth.

Within seconds, the barrier's glow extinguished completely. The energy shield failed, exposing the elf-like creatures inside.

Seeing their last protection vanish, the beings fell into utter despair. Darkness descended instantly, swallowing them whole.

Having finished, Three-Star Dragon looked satisfied, its mouth curling into a pleased smile.

What made the scene eerie was that throughout this entire display, the dragon's eyes never looked away from above—as if performing for a specific audience.

And indeed, that was exactly the case. Because the next moment, Three-Star Dragon spoke again:

"Turles, you want to defeat me? Then come! I can already see you!"

After delivering that taunting challenge, Three-Star Dragon's body slowly faded into the darkness until it vanished completely.

Back on the Supreme Kai Realm, the atmosphere suddenly grew heavy. Intense killing intent flooded the entire planet, oppressive pressure making it difficult for Carrit and the others to even breathe.

"What... what's happening?" Caulifla managed to speak while struggling against the overwhelming aura erupting from Turles.

The others remained silent—they had no idea what was going on either.

Just moments ago, Turles had placed his hand on Supreme Kai Fuwa's shoulder. Less than ten minutes later, he'd suddenly exploded with power before any of them could react.

But compared to Carrit's group—who at least had some distance from Turles—Fuwa was truly suffering.

"Tur... Turles!"

Fuwa had no choice but to speak. His broken words finally snapped Turles back to awareness.

Seeing the cold sweat streaming down Fuwa's face, Turles closed his eyes and exhaled slowly, removing his hand from Fuwa's shoulder.

When his eyes opened again, only calmness remained. The overwhelming aura gradually receded.

However, despite Turles's calm expression, Fuwa's heart couldn't settle for a long time.

Fuwa hadn't expected Turles's strength had already reached such heights. The time since their last sparring session had been so brief, yet Fuwa felt he was no longer Turles's match.

Fuwa himself loved combat. The Core People who could serve as Supreme Kai possessed naturally elite talent across the universe. Yet now, for the first time, Fuwa questioned his race's gifts.

Not just Turles—even Caulifla and the others. They'd been ordinary Saiyans, their strength decent in Universe 6 but far from top-tier.

But this Universe 7 Saiyan's arrival had massively boosted their power. From their energy signatures, Fuwa could tell their strength was solidly established—not simply relying on a basic transformation.

And Turles needed no explanation. Last time, he'd been merely mortal. Now he'd completely entered god realm. Through that earlier outburst, Fuwa clearly understood that among the twelve universes, Turles's power—excluding Gods of Destruction and Angels—was formidable indeed.

This deepened Fuwa's interest in the Saiyan race considerably.

As Supreme Kai, creating new races was part of his duty. Birth of an excellent species required comprehensive consideration. The current Saiyans presented valuable reference material for Fuwa.

But now wasn't the time to contemplate such things. Seeing Turles had completely calmed down, Fuwa asked:

"So, Turles—can you handle that existence?"

What Turles had witnessed, Fuwa had seen as well. Though as Supreme Kai he'd observed countless lives perish across the universe, that scene still angered him.

Sensing the fury in Fuwa's words, Turles remained silent.

Based on what he'd just witnessed, Turles had already guessed Three-Star Dragon's general abilities.

If his intuition was correct, this Evil Dragon possessed darkness attributes.

Just like Four-Star Dragon controlled flames in the original story, the Three-Star Dragon Turles had observed commanded darkness itself.

No wonder that planet had fallen into complete shadow—darkness stood opposite to light.

If Three-Star Dragon only wielded darkness abilities, then with ki sensing to assist in battle, even Carrit's group could fight it to a standstill—never mind Turles himself.

But Turles felt a nagging intuition deep down. Three-Star Dragon's abilities probably weren't that simple. Especially after watching it absorb the light from that energy barrier, this feeling grew stronger.

Seeing Turles's silence, Carrit and the others felt surprised.

They could vaguely sense the Evil Dragons' auras. Though distance made precise reading difficult, they could tell the Evil Dragons might be somewhat stronger than them—but not by much. With Turles's strength, handling them should be completely feasible.

Remembering what Turles had said before coming to the Supreme Kai Realm, Carrit formed a hypothesis and asked hesitantly, "Turles, does this Evil Dragon have some special ability?"

Hearing this, everyone's attention immediately focused on Turles. Even Fuwa looked thoughtful.

Turles glanced at Carrit with surprise, then at Caulifla and the others. After considering briefly, he shared what he'd witnessed along with his speculation.

One mind makes short plans; two make long ones. More people thinking might help Turles from different angles.

After hearing Turles's account, everyone fell into silence.

Whether Turles's guess was correct, they couldn't say for certain. But calling him overcautious? None of them could bring themselves to say that.

This wasn't simple arena combat. One mistake could cost lives. Though everyone should be prepared to sacrifice themselves against a universal crisis, staying alive was always better than pointless death.

And this was only the first Evil Dragon. Six more remained.

Seeing everyone's silence, Turles wasn't surprised. But when his gaze shifted to Fuwa, he noticed the Supreme Kai frowning as if recalling something.

"Fuwa-sama, have you thought of something?"

Turles didn't hesitate to ask directly.

"Hmm..."

Fuwa emerged from his memories. Seeing Turles's inquiring expression, he said hesitantly, "I think I've seen similar abilities before, but I can't quite remember what."

Fuwa began sinking back into recollection.

"Hm?"

Hearing this, a flash of insight crossed Turles's mind. He frowned, lost in thought.

"Absorbs light sources, hates brightness, darkness attributes..."

Turles listed Three-Star Dragon's characteristics in his mind, beginning to recall just like Fuwa.

The Dragon Ball world contained many abilities beyond simple battle power—cyborgs, magical constructs, mechanical warriors, and more all existed.

In Turles's memory, there was indeed a scene involving light absorption. But exactly what it was momentarily escaped him.

However, Turles knew that any scene he remembered must involve the protagonist Goku. So he began tracing through Goku's timeline.

"Hiss!"

Suddenly, an image surfaced in Turles's mind.

"That's it! The beast Yakon!"

Turles clapped his hands together, crying out.

He remembered now. In the Majin Buu arc, the evil wizard Babidi commanded several special warriors. Besides Demon King Dabura, one particularly unique fighter existed—the beast Yakon.

This special dark planet creature fed on light energy. When battling Goku's group, it used this trait to briefly suppress them. Such creatures could absorb light energy just like Three-Star Dragon.

When Goku and others powered up, the ki flames enveloping their bodies or their energy attacks all emitted light. Yakon could absorb that light while simultaneously draining the energy itself.

This caused energy loss while the dark environment impaired Goku's group's ki sensing abilities—allowing it to suppress them.

Three-Star Dragon likely worked the same way. So if they could overload it with absorbed energy like in the original—make it consume too much—they might make it burst.

"Beast Yakon? Yes, I remember now—it was Yakon!"

At that moment, Fuwa also recalled thanks to Turles's reminder. This wasn't surprising—Universe 6 and 7 were twin universes with significant similarities. Races found in Universe 7 likely existed in Universe 6 as well.

However, Carrit's group felt confused. Though Sadala Saiyans performed missions across the universe, space was vast—they couldn't know every species.

Noticing their confusion, Fuwa began explaining Yakon's characteristics before Turles could speak, describing traits similar to what Turles knew, though Fuwa's knowledge was more comprehensive.

"So this beast Yakon's weakness also exists in Three-Star Dragon?"

After hearing Fuwa's explanation, Caulifla asked excitedly.

"Well..."

Fuwa didn't dare guarantee that. In his perception, Three-Star Dragon was far more terrifying than Yakon. He could only look toward Turles.

Seeing Fuwa's glance, Turles immediately understood. However, Turles felt considerably more relaxed now.

Not that Turles was underestimating Three-Star Dragon—he'd suddenly thought of a method to counter its abilities.

"Looks like we need to return to the Saiyans' original form!"

Turles's mouth curved into an enigmatic smile.

When Turles's group reappeared, three days had passed. This time they weren't at the Supreme Kai Realm but had materialized directly in the vacuum of space.

However, Universe 6's Saiyans hadn't received the ability Turles wished for on Planet Namek—allowing Saiyans to survive in space. So unlike Turles, who floated freely in the void, Carrit's group all wore specialized space suits.

The six of them silently observed the planet ahead—already completely consumed by darkness.

"How terrifying!"

Suddenly, Caulifla's voice came through the communications system.

Whether from the space suit or influenced by the darkness before them, Caulifla's voice sounded somewhat muffled, lacking its usual liveliness.

Turles glanced at Caulifla, but the suit blocked him from seeing her expression.

However, Cabba—practically childhood friends with Caulifla—detected something unusual in her voice. He withdrew his gaze from the distant planet to look at her.

Seeming to notice someone watching, Caulifla looked back along the sightline. But by the time she turned, Cabba had already looked away.

After observing the dark planet in space for a moment, the group exchanged glances, then flew toward it.

The closer they approached, the denser the darkness became. As they neared the planet's vicinity, they felt as though facing darkness itself.

Except for Turles, the moment the five Saiyans' senses approached the planet, they felt stripped away. Though companions existed right beside them at close distance, they couldn't perceive them at all. This unprecedented experience immediately sparked panic.

"Watching" the group's hesitant movements, Turles could sense their unease—brought by the surrounding darkness.

"Activate your energy detectors!"

Turles's voice rang in their minds as he used his mental power for telepathic communication.

"Phew!"

"Hearing" Turles's voice, they visibly relaxed. Then, as if remembering something, they quickly pressed a button on their helmets' sides.

"Beep beep beep!"

The mechanical sounds echoed in their helmets. To the five Saiyans, these tones were heavenly music. The data and arrows displayed before their left eyes felt more precious than ever.

Though only a brief moment, the complete isolation and panic of absolute darkness had genuinely affected them. The five now felt as though they'd died and been reborn.

After this rebirth, they didn't dare be careless. Following close behind Turles, they continued forward.

What they didn't know was that deep within the planet, an invisible gaze pierced through the "darkness," watching the six of them with keen interest.
