Awakened from an endless seal, Lilith regained her freedom and a new life. She was visibly thrilled. Raising her palms high, she cried out to the heavens like a priestess performing a ritual.
"I have waited to depart, waited to return, and waited for the ultimate destruction. I am Original Sin, needing no redemption, nor capable of being redeemed. Tremble, for I have returned from the Abyss! I am Lilith, Isis. I am the Dark Soul of the World. I am destined to be the elusive, ominous, and unknown presence in the pitch-black night. Tremble! I am the mist, you are the stars. You are but a speck of light, while I am the eternal darkness of the night. I exist for all eternity, never to perish, never to fade."
Ancient words flowed from her lips. Though Zhou Yi had never heard this language before, he understood every word she spoke.
It was a mystical tongue, one that seemed to communicate directly with the depths of the soul. You could grasp its meaning, yet you could neither comprehend nor repeat a single word.
This language did not belong to humans; it belonged only to the exalted gods.
As Lilith finished speaking these words, which sounded like a funeral oration, the night grew even darker. Mist and dim stars began to appear in the sky. A moon also appeared, but it was a hazy, waning crescent. The moon hung behind Lilith, perfectly showcasing her identity as the Goddess of Night.
Zhou Yi could now feel her surging power, a stark contrast to her previous weakness. Perhaps, as she had said, she had preserved her strength through her own clever schemes. And now was the time for her return and awakening.
At this moment, Lilith was utterly unrestrained. She unleashed her divinity, not only pulling the entire ancient castle into a world she had woven and created, but also extending her divine power infinitely, permeating into an other-dimensional space.
It was an unknown dimension. Though he did not know what it contained, Zhou Yi could still sense that the dimension was extraordinarily **hungry**. When Lilith pulled it into the world she had woven, it began to devour the surging sea of blood and the countless creatures born from it.
This was Lilith's Hell, her kingdom and the source of her power. Two thousand years of sealing had left this realm utterly desolate. To preserve her strength, Lilith had enshrouded all the life within this kingdom in her own heart's blood, transforming it into a dead land where no living being remained but herself.
And now, it was reviving, welcoming back its former inhabitants. The surging torrents of blood that flooded the entire world poured into this dimension. With every drop that flowed in, Lilith grew more powerful. The awakened kingdom restored her original strength, allowing her to gradually return to her prime.
This meant that Jehovah's two-thousand-year seal had been completely in vain. In fact, it had become a grand joke—one that some people clearly could not tolerate.
Thunder and blinding light began to tear through the sky, as countless pillars of light pierced Lilith's woven night like swords. The sound of hymns rose again, as if countless angels were singing. Simultaneously, a massive pillar of light completely tore through the darkness above.
From within this radiance, a figure shrouded in endless light stepped forth, one step at a time.
Staring at the figure, Lilith gritted her teeth and spat his name.
"Jehovah... You dare show your face here, now of all times."
"I could never allow you to simply return to this world after your defeat at my hands, Lilith. Submit to me, and I may grant you a place in Heaven. Refuse, and you will be sealed away once more—this time, forever."
The deity Lilith had named Jehovah stood amidst a sea of light, his divinity surging forth like a vast, boundless ocean. Every word he spoke weighed heavily upon her, a crushing pressure that threatened to bring her to her knees.
Lilith gritted her teeth, her voice trembling but defiant. "I will never submit to you! I would rather be utterly annihilated than enter your Heaven!"
"That time is not far off, Lilith. You are but a single step away from eternal oblivion." Jehovah laughed, his voice causing the sea of light to churn and surge in violent waves. He turned his gaze from Lilith to Zhou Yi. "So, you are the New God who defeated my Vice-Lord and seized my messenger's soul? Truly astonishing. I thought this world had no room for new gods."
"What's this? Have you come to demand justice for your subordinate?"
Even facing God Himself, Zhou Yi felt little surprise. He had never revered the divine as a mortal, let alone now that he stood on the same level as them. His words were sharp, laced with blatant provocation.
"You are too arrogant, New God," Jehovah said, his voice low as he lowered his gaze, having heard the provocation in Zhou Yi's words. "I do not know whence you draw the confidence to defy me. Is it that divinity you have no idea how to wield? Or perhaps your True Name, which you have not even begun to condense into authority? The path of the gods is far more arduous than you imagine. A newborn like you is in no position to act so defiantly before me."
As he spoke, endless swords of light tore through the Sea of Light, raining down upon Zhou Yi. Each blade was a manifestation of Jehovah's divine power, a colossal and boundless assault. In terms of raw power alone, every single strike was no weaker than the spear Michael had covertly unleashed.
Yet Michael's spear was a single blow; here, there were tens of thousands—an almost infinite barrage.
Facing the overwhelming onslaught, Zhou Yi frowned and unleashed his divinity. Golden flames erupted, swirling around him to form a colossal solar disk. The blazing light and fire intertwined, as if a sun had descended to the earth.
Countless swords of light rained down upon this solar disk, only to vanish instantly. Though Jehovah's swords were infinite, they could not harm Zhou Yi within the solar disk.
Both could feel the consequences of their clashing divine powers. One divinity was being devoured by the other. To Jehovah's dismay, his own was the one being consumed.
The purity of Zhou Yi's divinity far exceeded his imagination. Furthermore, their domains overlapped, and this very overlap placed Jehovah at a direct disadvantage.
From his birth until the day his name as the Lord spread across the world, Jehovah had never encountered such a thing. Though his face was hidden within the sea of light, both Zhou Yi and Lilith could tell his expression was grim.
Seeing his grimace, Lilith—his former rival and now his old enemy—burst into laughter.
"Jehovah, so you can taste defeat after all. Never expected this, did you? That the New God is actually a sun deity. Your power of light can't harm him, and your sacred fire might be useless against him too. Facing him, more than half of your tricks are rendered completely ineffective. I'm eager to see what other skills you have left to display the Lord's majesty."
Faced with Lilith's mockery, Jehovah's expression grew even more strained. But just as Lilith had said, as a deity who wielded the power of light, he was naturally at a disadvantage against a sun deity. Moreover, he sensed that this New God's rank was terrifyingly high—it seemed he was no ordinary sun deity.
As the ruler of a pantheon, he possessed a profound understanding of the other pantheons on Earth. Sun gods, regardless of their pantheon, were always unique beings. This was not only because of their immense power, but more so because of their incompleteness.
Apollo of the Greek pantheon held authority primarily over music; he was the charioteer of the sun, not the sun itself. Baldr of the Norse pantheon, while nominally their sun god, only wielded the power of light, much like Jehovah himself.
The others—whether it was Surya, one of the Twelve Devas of India, or Tonatiuh, the Maya sun god—were all incomplete sun deities who wielded only a fraction of the sun's true power. Yet even so, they were still formidable beings, powerful enough that he, as God, had to treat them with utmost caution.
But now, facing this New God, Zhou Yi, Jehovah felt that mere caution would no longer suffice. From Zhou Yi, Jehovah sensed a power of equal or even higher rank—a power he had only ever encountered in one other deity:
Ra, the chief god of Egypt, the Sun God who commanded time itself, ruling over both the rising and setting sun. Ra was a being who could stand on equal footing with himself.
*Could this New God truly be the Sun Lord God?* The thought flashed through Jehovah's mind, only to be instantly suppressed. Beings like Ra were exceedingly rare among the countless gods in existence; what were the odds of encountering one so by chance? Besides, this New God had not even condensed his True Name.
With this in mind, Jehovah resolved to unleash his full power to eliminate this New God once and for all.
Regardless of Zhou Yi's true identity, even if he really were the Sun Lord God, he would be no match for Jehovah without his true name. Once he was dealt with, Lilith, still recovering her strength, would be nothing more than a minor obstacle.
Jehovah had not risen to claim half the world in the name of the Lord and become the deity with the largest following on Earth by simple means alone. He had severed the faith of the Celts and Germans, bringing all of medieval Europe under his dominion. His followers had waged countless wars in his name, obliterating countless cultures and religions.
Countless gods had fallen at his hands, and their failures had paved the way for his success. In terms of sheer ruthlessness and cunning, he was a top-tier deity. His style was one of ruthless decisiveness; he was a true overlord among gods, and he would never allow someone like Zhou Yi to grow unchecked.
Thus, he made his decision.
The Sea of Light surged forward as a colossal tsunami. The next moment, his voice thundered through the world Lilith had woven.
"I am the omniscient and omnipotent God! What I speak is the eternal and unchanging truth!"
