Chapter 218 - MEGA Rayquaza: Carrying the Team 1-vs-7! Someone is Slacking Off!

After hearing Professor Oak's explanation, everyone suddenly came to a realization. A Legendary that surpasses the "Primary" tier—a Transcendent Deity! This description was incredibly fitting.

Currently, Mega Rayquaza's strength could no longer be described as just a Primary Legendary. Standard Legendaries like the Unova Dragons were simply no match for it.

Even Dialga and Palkia—despite their intimidating titles of Time and Space—only reigned supreme within the standard Legendary tier.

To reach the level of a Transcendent Deity, one would likely have to look at the final member of the Sinnoh Trio: Giratina.

Of course, these are all legends, and the specific hierarchy of the three gods remains a mystery. However, in folklore, Giratina is said to tower above the other two, placing it firmly in the Transcendent category.

At the start of the battle, no one believed Ash's side could resist Unbound Hoopa's team. Yet, as the fight progressed, viewers noticed that while Ash was technically "fleeing," the gods on Hoopa's side were the ones taking a beating—specifically, a toxic beating from MEGA Rayquaza!

In the Footage—

While Rayquaza was pummeling White Kyurem, Ash, riding Latios, was being chased by the Primal Fathead Fish (Kyogre)! Massive pillars of water erupted from the sea, but Latios zipped through the city with jet-like agility.

Not a single drop touched them, though the city of Dahara was being reduced to splinters in the crossfire.

"ROAR!!"

Having finished off White Kyurem, MEGA Rayquaza noticed Ash was in trouble again. It coiled its body and intercepted the pursuit, blasting a pitch-black Dragon Pulse that stopped Primal Kyogre dead in its tracks.

Seeing the Time and Space dragons flanking Ash, Rayquaza performed another Dragon Dance! Its speed increased to a blur. Emerald light flared as its massive head slammed into Dialga, collateral-hitting Palkia in the process!

Dragon Ascent!

This was Rayquaza's third Dragon Dance. A signature move backed by that much momentum was more than the Sinnoh Duo could handle; a single hit shaved off nearly 20% of their stamina.

Primary Legendaries usually have bottomless stamina, capable of fighting for days, but a buffed Mega Rayquaza's signature move was like a surgical strike to their health bars.

The downside was steep, though. Three Dragon Ascents meant Rayquaza's defenses had plummeted three stages. Since it was already a "glass cannon," a single mistake could lead to disaster.

[Lance: Good grief, is Rayquaza a firefighter?! Wherever Ash is in danger, Rayquaza appears!]

[Drake: I apologize for my earlier doubts. MEGA Rayquaza... is absolutely the strongest Dragon in the world. Perhaps even the strongest Pokémon in existence!]

[Cynthia: You have to exclude Arceus from that "strongest" list. The Alpha Pokémon is the undisputed peak.]

[Alder: I have to admit, even if Kyurem were the hero here, I could no longer call it the Strongest Dragon. That title belongs to MEGA Rayquaza—unless Kyurem has an even further form.]

[Volkner: Have you guys noticed? Ash and Pikachu only attacked twice at the start. Since then, they've just been running!]

[Steven Stone: One battle, eleven Legendaries—twelve if you count Pikachu. Ash has five on his side, and four of them are essentially slacking off!]

It was true. From a tactical standpoint, Ash, Latias, Latios, Pikachu, and small Hoopa were contributing very little to the actual damage. Rayquaza was doing the heavy lifting for everyone:

Black/White Kyurem: Beaten so hard it's only just now crawling back up.

Giratina: Wounded by a Dragon Dance-boosted Ascent.

Sinnoh Duo: Their kidneys are screaming after a 3-stack Dragon Ascent.

Primal Kyogre: Only hit by a Dragon Pulse so far; barely a scratch on its thick hide.

Groudon: The only one Rayquaza hasn't bullied yet, mostly because Groudon keeps getting hit by its own teammates.

Unbound Hoopa: Busy micromanaging six puppets, it hasn't faced Rayquaza directly.

In short: Rayquaza is 1-vs-7. It has four teammates "leeching XP" while it carries the game. Everyone wondered: What did Ash do to earn this kind of loyalty? Usually, a dragon this prideful would have flown away by now.

In the Footage—

Thanks to the "Firefighter/MVP/Face of the Franchise" Rayquaza, the situation stabilized. On the enemy side, Groudon was the one slacking—not by choice, but because it couldn't fly. By the time it walked to where Ash was, the "jets" were long gone.

Suddenly, Unbound Hoopa shuddered. Its glowing red eyes turned toward Dahara Tower. It felt like a lethal threat was forming—the Prison Bottle was nearly repaired!

"Hoopa... HATE!! KILL!!"

Hoopa reached a claw through a ring, extending it toward the tower to crush it. "They found us! Don't let him touch it! Latias, Latios, Dragon Pulse!"

Two purple dragon-shaped beams struck the giant claw, forcing it back. Ash and his team landed in front of the tower as MEGA Rayquaza spiraled down to guard the perimeter.

The Shadow had realized that if the bottle was finished, it would be sealed regardless of whether the small Hoopa was erased.

"HOOPA!!" The Shadow roared, and all five flying gods gathered behind it.

(Wait, Groudon? Still walking. He'll be there eventually.

Dialga fired a Roar of Time, distorting the very air. Rayquaza, out of habit, performed another Dragon Dance to dodge. Then it realized: Wait, I'm defending a stationary tower! If I dodge, the tower dies!

BOOM!! The blast struck the top of Dahara Tower. The refugees inside screamed in terror. Ash's mind raced. He looked at the coiling Rayquaza and had a flash of inspiration.

"Rayquaza! Use Twister! Maximum power!!"

Rayquaza soared into the clouds, spinning its massive body to create a localized hurricane. Its Delta Stream ability kicked into high gear, turning the atmosphere into a chaotic mess.

A sky-splitting tornado descended, enveloping Dahara Tower. Inside the eye, it was perfectly calm; outside, it was a Category 5 storm. (Wait, you destroyed the surrounding neighborhood to "protect" the tower? .jpg)

Ash didn't care. He had to hold the line. "Not enough! Latias, Latios, Psychic!"

The Eon duo added their mental power to the storm, doubling the rotation speed. From the outside, the hurricane now glowed with blue lightning—a dual-layer barrier.

Outer Layer: A high-speed kinetic wind wall that deflected physical projectiles.

Inner Layer: A psychic barrier to reinforce the structure.

[Lance: Wait... you can do that?!]

[Cynthia: It's a brilliant combo! Rayquaza creates the base, and the twins reinforce it into an indestructible fortress!]

[Steven Stone: The most shocking part is how Rayquaza and the others understand Ash's intent perfectly. It's as if they were his own Pokémon.]

In the Footage—

Faced with this wall of wind and mind, the Shadow gathered its team for a final assault. Dark Pulse! Roar of Time! Spacial Rend! Shadow Ball! Ice Burn! Origin Pulse!

Six ultimate moves tore through the night, lighting up the sky like a second sun. The shockwave leveled every remaining ruin around the tower. BOOM!!

The attack persisted for ten seconds before fading. The tornado had a hole blasted in it, but the inner psychic barrier held! Rayquaza roared, spinning faster to repair the breach. The defense was restored!

Just then, a massive shape stepped into the water near the tower. Primal Groudon had finally arrived.
