Evelyn looked at Lily Thorne in confusion, not quite understanding what "something that must never be known by outsiders" she was referring to.
Why does it feel like The Lockwood Family is shrouded in mystery, as if there are many secrets?
Lily's brow furrowed as she continued to ask, "You don't know?"
"What are you talking about?" Evelyn asked tentatively.
Lily scrutinized Evelyn up and down, a deep emotion flashed in her eyes, and then she said, "I know you're not some noble lady from a prestigious family, but at least you should not resign yourself to mediocrity, right?"
Evelyn was startled, unsure of what Lily meant by saying this.
"Like Shannon Dunn, she doesn't have a distinguished background either, but through her own efforts, she has made herself rather extraordinary." Lily spoke in an admiring tone.
After a pause, she continued, "And you, already being Mrs. Lockwood, should conduct yourself according to her standards."
