Rei was panting heavily, tanking and using his powerful offense and defense when clashing with Keitaro for the final showdown as he was able to push his limits by a slight percentage.
"Impressive." the ancient being whispered through their mental connection, "Although, I would've smoked that brat from the beginning compared to you."
The black haired male ignored the ancient being's taunts and mockery towards his fight, he looked around to see Keitaro unconscious at the opposite side who was in the debris from the damage they created.
"Looks like he won." Rei thought to himself after seeing the relaxed and satisfied face of the defeated opponent.
The cold air hit his skin, making him aware that he had destroyed his shirt while his body had already healed from serious injuries except for the scratches and bruises. "You owe me this brat." The ancient being said before Rei pushed the voice away as he focused on his recovery, following the staff to go to the medical group to look after his injuries.
"Rei Nishimura will proceed to the third round!" Eto announced as the arena wasn't filled with cheers but rather noises of clamps that signified their respect for the intense match that Rei and Keitaro had done.
...…
"You fucking idiot! You could've died!" Sylvie screamed at him as she continued to smack Rei's head while the latter did little to defend himself. "I said I'm sorry! I won't do it again!" He retorted as he caught her hands, locking them in place while the trio who followed the magenta haired girl just watched them in amusement.
Moments ago they were worried but now they weren't since Sylvie snapped as she started to scold Rei for the past few minutes. Shouting and screaming at his recklessness.
"Should we do something about this?" Hinata asked while Haruki shook his head then responded back, "Nope. Ever tried to stop a girl who's raging?"
Hinata stared at Erika and then at him before responding,
"Touché."
The trio watched the two bicker back forth like married couples arguing over something trivial. "And they say they are just friends…" the three thought to themselves as they saw Rei trying to flirt his way out when Sylvie is hell-bent on giving him a piece of her mind.
A couple of moments later, the trio had left the two since they were gonna go back to the seats so that they could still have a nice spot when watching the rest of the match. "I hate you." Sylvie mumbles under her breath while Rei was being looked after and taken for by the schoo nurse that they had met before, Rei, the lady with white hair and red eyes during their first interaction.
"Everything is clear." Eri said before handing him a potion, "Just drink this so that you'll be able to still join the final round."
Rei nodded his head before taking the potion from her hands as he drank it down. "Alright. My assistant will be taking care to see your vitals if you're good to leave. I'm sure the three of you will have fun." Sylvie and Rei looked confused as Eri left before a man with messy hair entered the room which made the copycat flinched at his appearance.
"S-Sir Elliot?" Rei stuttered while Sylvie smirked as she finally had someone to back her up.
"You brat. Wherever you go, trouble always come!" He said while holding a supposedly news paper although it looked like a metal bat from Rei's eyes.
"S-Sir. L-Let me explain…" Rei muttered as he looked over to Sylvie for help although the magenta haired girl was cracking his knuckles.
Meanwhile, Eri had just finished with checking up with Keitaro as she was writing down her report for his vitals when she suddenly heard a familiar scream from the tent that she had just left moments ago. "Must've been the wind…" the nurse thought to herself, assuming that the trio of the other tent were having a emotional moment for seeing each other again.
Not knowing that Rei was getting scolded and beaten by a wrath of a woman and a frustrated assistant nurse who has to deal with his injuries again then him again.
...…
Rei was sipping another tonic once again, the familiar taste of the nurse's recovery potions that he had drank from his former school before when he was still acting as a 'blank'.
"Glad to see you doing better by the way." Elliot said after checking Rei's vitals on the monitor before Sylvie started the conversation, "Sir Elliot, I didn't know you were working here in Kamigami Academy."
Elliot chuckled before responding, "It was recommended to me when I was resigning. Imagine my surprise a couple of months later when I had to check the information from the headmaster."
"It was a total surprise for me to see you two attending here as well." He added before unhooking some other medical things on Rei's body, "I have to say. You two are still close together like a pod and a pea."
His statement made the two blush although they managed to brush it off by making an excuse of being close friends that will never turn at each others back no matter what.
"Yeah right as if. I could remember the day I caught you two making out and going further when I left the infirmary that one time." Elliot teased as Rei blushed while Sylvie whistled, pretending that whatever memory was just a fluke.
"Anyways, you're free to go but don't make a mess around here. I'll leave you two at it." His teasing made the two roll their eyes before brushing Elliot away, happy that they were able to reconcile with theirtheir favourite nurse from the Sir Ellis Kadooriedays..
After Elliot left to assist Eri, Sylvie and Rei immediately went into silence before the magenta haired girl broke it, "You won such a difficult match up." She said while Rei shook his head, confusing her before he explained.
"If anything from that match, that guy won." He said, smiling softly to himself as he was happy with being able to help someone out rather than beating them senseless.
"I see. What are you? A hero instead of a sorcerer now?" Sylvie teased as he chuckled at her.
"If you keep on insisting, then maybe I'll ask Eunji if there's any course related to that then." Rei joked before Sylvie laughed at it, "It doesn't sound bad but I have to take care with this piece of shxt in me." He added in which Sylvie understood what he meant before chuckling at him, staying with each other as they stayed still for the moment.
Relishing the comfort and warmth with each other as they wonder what's next.
...…
Keitaro woke up with disappointment on his face, expecting to win since he finally stopped holding back because of Rei's persistent words that poke through his mind like melted butter.
"I lost…" He thought to himself, thinking negatively as he wondered what would his clan do to him especially when he outshines Haru while losing at the same time due to some outsider.
He was in a deep thought until he heard a footstep, looking up before seeing Eunji with a careful expression. "Senior Jeong?" Keitaro uttered while the sorceress just stared for a moment before speaking.
"Nice try on that match. I'd say you two are almost at the same level of overall skill set but the latter had the talent for improving at fire situations." She said while Keitaro nodded his head, Eunji taking notice of it before going further, "Although, you did great especially when the odds are between a loss and a win. So, be proud that you managed to hold out for this long while holding back."
Keitaro felt a sense of pride and reassurance from her until Eunji continued talking, "Also, you should address me as senior Eunji and not by my last name. After all, my little sister is delighted with you." The male looked in total surprise at her statement as a slight blush appeared on his cheeks.
"And as well, my offer still stands if you want to join the assault division. However, I think you would prefer to stay in the investigation division since our section may take too much of your time especially when she's so fond of you." Eunji stated while adding a slight tease at the end before leaving.
"He's all yours." Keitaro was confused for a second before Ha-Eun appeared at her side. "Keitaro!" She called out the same tone, attitude and presence which he found to be comforting and relaxing.
"Ha-Eun…" he uttered weakly before the girl went in to hug him, "You did your best!" She said with a cheerful attitude which made the male soften up.
"It wasn't the very best…" Keitaro said while Ha-Eun looked at him in disapproval before he continued on, "I didn't hold my promise back there… If I did, maybe I wouldn't have lost in the first place."
His words made the girl surprised before brushing him off, "That's true but you did win." She said before adding more, "You won at the end with you going all out without any hesitation of holding back anymore!"
Keitaro smiled at her, happy and relieved from her cheerful attitude and positivity as he started to feel much better than before.
"Yeah. Thanks for being truthful and honest with me as always." He said before leaning his head over her shoulders, "I'm grateful for your kindness…" his voice breaking as he started to sob.
Ha-Eun sighed as she hugged him, comforting the crying male as she patted his back. "No need to thank me when I chose to help you in the first place." She said, reassuring the blue haired male.
