Sylvie was exhausted after her training with Rei especially when everything was focused on her stamina and hand-to-hand combat. "Jeez… He's hardcore…" She muttered to herself before her phone started ringing, picking it up and seeing her mother's name as she accepted the call.
"Hey mo-" before she could even continue, her mother had started talking.
Questions of her academic life, her comfortability and lastly, her well-being. It was comforting to hear her mother's voice especially with what had happened from the incident. "I'm fine mother. There's nothing to worry about." Sylvie said as her mother chuckled in the background.
"I see. How's your relationship with that boy? Is he your boyfriend or?" Her mother teased as Sylvie blushed before retorting back into the call, "No! H-He is just a friend…" she uttered while her mother giggled.
"Oh really? What kind of friends are those who sleep with each other intimately?" The teasing remarks of her mother made Sylvie blushed even more, silently thanking the headmaster for giving her a dorm room without any roommates since she was embarrassed by her mother.
"I-It's not like that…" Sylvie muttered while her mother laughed, the memory of that day when she was exploring herself.
The day where her mother called her and her elder sister before bringing out the packet of condom. Embarrassing for both sisters as the oldest tried to explain to her best that it wasn't hers and she wasn't seeing anyone before Sylvie admitted that it belonged to her.
The mother was about to demand an explanation to her elder sister for making a bad influence until Sylvie had to intervene and admit everything about her and Rei to them. From an important lesson which turned into gossip as both her mother and elder sister started asking for details.
It was shameless of them yet she understood why she came into that exploration of herself especially when Sylvie wasn't like this now. She used to be someone strict, rule abiding, focused on doing her best and a straight A's student. When she met Rei, they were always arguing especially when the latter was still pretending to be a 'blank', it was infuriating yet worth it from how she slowly came out of her shell and started to open up to him the most before sharing herself to her family.
While it sounded wrong for her current situation with Rei and telling it to her family, her mother and sister respected her choice as long as it doesn't affect her negatively. After all, what matters to them were Sylvie's feelings and the impact in her life. Other than that, they were fine with it since the male was rather respectful despite his supposedly 'blank' status.
Although, when Rei snapped, the family were doubtful of him but decided to try helping them indirectly by recommending the male to a therapist that they've known of for years.
"Mother. He's fine. It's just… I guess he's been through a lot… I didn't just only go here for my career but also to support him whenever I can." Sylvie said to her mother on the phone as the latter sighed before responding back, "If that's your decision then I'm fine. After all, we want to thank him for breaking you out of your shell."
Sylvie sighed as she continued, "I guess if I start falling… Then I'll ask for your advice, mom." She said softly while her mother sobbed softly before responding.
"Sylvie. Live your life as you want. We'll always support you no matter what."
Her statement sent a comforting feeling and atmosphere to Sylvie as she responded back, "I will, mom. Thank you."
......…
Present time…
Sylvie was smiling at her mother's words upon remembering them, every moment in the fight as she expressed her gratitude to Rei for helping her a lot especially during her lowest point of life. "Rei… Thank you for letting me get out of my comfort zone… For allowing me to experience these things in life…" she uttered to herself before freezing then unfreezing time in a brief second to destroy each glacier spike that Rei sent out to her.
The magenta haired girl grinned as she began to approach him once again, putting all her strength into right arm to finish him off.
"I'll match that intensity of yours!" She smiled as she evaded each glacier spike swiftly while Rei did the same as he stopped sending it to her which he replaced by using his stockpile technique.
Putting everything that he had to offer to match her into his own right arm. "Totality! 100% Maximum Output!" He chanted as his extra PE shirt that he had packed immediately got shredded, revealing the right side of his body in which people could see the glowing red streaks over his arm.
Their overwhelming power had alerted every nearby sorcerer including Eunji and Rinka then Eto to draw out a barrier to contain the stage, in order to avoid massive damage that could bring harm to everyone.
......…
"Another troublesome batch of students always injuring themselves…" Eri muttered to herself before looking to her left to see Elliot already mixing a bunch of tonics for the potions. "Looks like he's used to those two huh…"
Elliot, mixing the tonics with a quick precision while cursing out the magenta haired girl and black haired male for going all out although was happy to see the two enjoying themselves.
"Even if I do hate the two of you going out of your way to express yourselves, I'm happy to see that y'all are growing up and being more responsible than ever…" Elliot thought to himself as a brief memory went to his mind when a therapist went to collect Rei's physical health file for him since the male had taken the benefit of attending one then another memory of Sylvie taking more responsibility of looking after the students to not get into trouble for their personal benefits in which almost the entire school hated the new mindset and structure.
Elliot smiled as he finished making the potions, ready to help and patch the two up since his responsibility was to watch over them as always. The nurse who had watched their struggles of down and up.
"You two will always be my pride and my joy…" Elliot uttered out loud which made Rei raise an eyebrow before ignoring him.
"I'm just getting older aren't I?" Eri thought to herself while preparing the beds for the two contestants that are about to finish their fight.
......…
Just like from Rei and Keitaro's clash, the clash between Rei and Sylvie's full power on their attacks had broken a part of the barrier which was instantly fixed by Eunji who applied more spiritual energy to maintain its durability and sturdiness.
A brighter light than before covered the stage in which made the crowd curious yet on guard since they haven't let go of Rei's status and are assuming that the latter would either get out of hand and let the ancient being out to wreck havoc at them.
"Jeez… These two really went all out…" Eunji muttered to herself, her eyes glowing while the passive ability of prowess had picked up on who won the fight. "Impressive move." She smirked to herself before telling the rest of the sorcerers to stand down as the clash had finished.
The strawberry blonde returned back to where she sat along with Rinka who was dusting off the small dust on her shoulders. "I can't believe that those two are that powerful…" She said since Rei was just a slight level lower than her.
"And that's why I told you to stop picking fights then just train instead." Eunji replied back while the short orange brown hair girl just rolled her eyes before responding back, "Alright, alright… Anyways… Guess like he's one smart brat…" she smirked as Eunji scoffed.
"And no wonder why the headmaster chose him to be in our division yet again…" Eunji stated while Rinka just chuckled, "Mhm… Anyways… I wonder how they'll react…" she said while her eyes glowed brighter than her usual emerald green eyes.
She was right since if Rei had won then a lot of conspiracies would emerge to say that the latter was using something impractical since most of his year level schoolmates would be at a disadvantage especially with his status and the ancient being that resided within him.
As the smoke and dust had settled, only one figure stood on their knees while the latter looked like they'd been trapped in a pillar. The green hue of the magenta haired girl vanished after deactivating her prowess and she sighed in defeat, "Damn… Bold move…" she muttered weakly.
On the other hand, Rei breathed heavily while having blood dripping down from his forehead to his chin on the left side. Despite all the injuries, the male still had their prowess active as their red aura was flickering off and on "Well it did work out for me…" he responded before Eto announced who was the victor.
"Rei Nishimura has won the 5th year batch of Kamigami Academy Sports Event!" She announced despite the lack of clapping and enthusiasm of the crowd although there were only at least three or five people celebrating.
