Chapter 335 - Chapter 335: The Price of Mercy

Moreover, after witnessing the battle just now and seeing so many people die because of Clark and General Zod's fight, Bruce truly could not feel any goodwill toward this alien who looked so righteous.

Clark stared hard at the man before him, his eyes filled with seriousness.

Of course, he could guess how this man wanted to deal with General Zod. Without a doubt, he wanted to conduct some kind of secret human experimentation and try to obtain research results from General Zod's body.

This was something Clark would absolutely never allow.

So Clark rejected him without hesitation. "No. General Zod can't be left to you."

Bruce confronted Clark just as bluntly. "That isn't your decision to make."

The atmosphere between the two became increasingly grave. A conflict could break out at any moment.

However, at that moment, a portal suddenly opened beside them, and Harry stepped out of it, looking at the two of them curiously.

"You two… did something happen between you?"

When Harry appeared, Bruce closed his mouth and said nothing. Compared with Clark, this Kryptonian, the one he was more wary of was Harry.

After all, even an existence on Clark's level could be called a god among men. Then what kind of level had Harry reached, when he could casually grant Bruce strength comparable to Clark's?

Could he really be the God from legend?

Although Harry had emphasized that he was human, not anything else, Bruce had never seen a human this powerful.

Besides, even such a powerful human should be monitored. If Harry wanted to destroy the world, he would not need to do anything else. He would only need to create a few subordinates with magnetic-field power, and he could easily rule the entire world.

Thinking of this, Bruce felt deeply frustrated. He truly could not think of any way to control Harry if Harry ever lost control.

But that was fine. Bruce firmly believed that everything had its own unique weakness. As long as he could find Harry's weakness, then no matter how powerful Harry was, he could still be defeated.

For now, what he needed to care about was how to convince Harry to let him have General Zod's body for secret research.

But before he could figure out how to persuade Harry, Clark said to Harry angrily, "Harry, this guy wants to take General Zod's body for research. I will never allow something like that to happen."

Facing Clark's accusation, Bruce showed no intention of denying it. Instead, he said directly, "Zod isn't human. He has no human rights. I can do whatever I want with him."

"Does being nonhuman mean he doesn't deserve respect?" Clark said angrily. "He's alive too. Maybe you can execute him according to the law, but if you want to dissect his body for research, how is that any different from Zod?"

He abruptly stepped forward and questioned him. "I'm Kryptonian. By your logic, should I be locked in a lab too? Because I'm 'not human'? The reason we stopped Zod is because he trampled on life. But what you want to do now is exactly the same in essence. If we do this, is there still any line between us and those brutal enemies?"

Clark wanted to persuade Bruce, but Bruce was unmoved.

He and Clark thought in completely different ways. What he protected was humanity, and aliens were not human.

Just like what humans did to animals, no matter what he did to General Zod, it was only natural.

After hearing Bruce and Clark's conversation, Harry understood the conflict between them.

Wasn't this conflict easy to solve?

Harry drew his wand and tapped it at the iron sphere imprisoning General Zod. The iron sphere instantly dissolved amid a burst of green light, revealing General Zod inside, completely unharmed.

The moment General Zod was freed, he immediately tried to escape, but then he suddenly realized that he could not move at all. It was as if his entire body had been bound by some invisible, overwhelming force.

After that, something happened that made him feel even more alarmed.

Beside General Zod, a mass of flesh and blood rapidly formed from nothing. In just a few seconds, it generated another General Zod's body.

Harry handed the other newly created, completely naked General Zod to Bruce, then smiled and said, "A one-to-one recreation, a still-living body. Whether you use it for experiments or to manufacture bioweapons, it's first-class material. What do you think? Why don't you accept this body, and leave General Zod to me? I'll handle them properly."

Bruce knew very well that if he insisted on continuing to research General Zod's actual body, he would definitely end up fighting Clark, and might even offend Harry, this mysterious man.

So Bruce said very rationally, "In that case, I agree."

Clark, however, was still somewhat worried. He asked Harry, "Harry, how are you going to deal with General Zod and the others? Are you planning to perform some kind of experiment too?"

Harry shook his head and looked utterly baffled.

"Why would I use them for experiments? Every Kryptonian is a precious asset. If I can subdue them, they will definitely become an extremely powerful force. Especially since they can still reproduce, and their numbers will keep increasing. They're geese that lay golden eggs."

Harry planned to bring these Kryptonians to the Multiverse world and find a planet to serve as their homeworld.

Then Harry wanted to use the Mind Stone to control them and have them establish a new cosmic guard to maintain the balance between the major powers of the universe.

That way, something like Ultron secretly taking control of the entire Kree civilization without anyone noticing would never happen again.

After finishing all this, Harry prepared to leave this world, which he had named the Second Multiverse.

However, before leaving, Harry decided to restore the nearly half-destroyed Metropolis to its original state.

Harry drew his wand, and a stream of silver-green light flowed from its tip, covering all of Metropolis.

The leaning skyscrapers suddenly gave off faint sounds of glass grinding together, and the broken steel bars retreated back into place at a visible speed.

On the streets, overturned fire trucks slid backward along their original paths. Concrete powder gathered back into bricks. Broken branches sprouted tender buds in reverse growth, and even the smoke hanging in the air began to shrink back.

What shocked Bruce even more was that those who had died were slowly standing up again.

Harry could actually resurrect the dead!

At that moment, both Bruce and Clark felt an indescribable tremor in their hearts. They both had loved ones they wanted to bring back.

However, they still suppressed that impulse and decided to ask Harry about it later.

But something unexpected happened. After Harry repaired Metropolis and resurrected the people who had died in this disaster, he only hurriedly greeted them, opened a wormhole, and disappeared before their eyes.
