Chapter 50: War and Devastation
The meeting room was quiet while everyone filed in. Rimuri had called the gathering as soon as the last of the morning chores were done. All the key figures of the village were present: the Kijin along with Rigurd and Kaijin. Prinz sat comfortably to Rimuri's right, her usual playful demeanor replaced by quiet attentiveness.
Varion was seated at the head of the long table, exactly where Rimuri had insisted he sit. She had sat on his lap the moment everyone was settled, perching happily with her back against his chest, like he was a throne. To her subordinates, the message was clear: Varion was to be regarded as her equal. To herself, it was also a very convenient excuse to be close to him and feeling the steady warmth of his body.
Rimuri wiggled a little in his lap, smiling innocently as if she wasn't being a bit pervy about it and was just getting comfortable. Varion simply rolled his eyes and rested one hand on her waist, the other arm draped casually along the arm of the chair, and let her stay exactly where she wanted.
"Alright," Rimuri began, her voice carrying easily through the room. "We need to talk about the Orc Lord. The reports from Souei's network are getting worse every day. Two hundred thousand orcs are on the move, and they're not just migrating — they're consuming everything in their path."
Benimaru's expression darkened. "If they reach us, the village won't stand a chance without proper preparation. We need to start mobilizing now."
The discussion flowed naturally from there — defensive strategies, supply lines, training schedules, and how to integrate the Kijin's strengths with the growing goblin forces. Kaijin offered insights on weapon production, while Rigurd spoke of the goblin tribes' readiness. Prinz listened carefully, occasionally adding quiet suggestions about organizing the civilian side of things.
Midway through the meeting, Souei suddenly straightened. His eyes flicked toward Rimuri.
"My lord," he said calmly. "I have received a request for an audience. A Dryad named Treyni wishes to speak with you immediately. She says the matter is urgent."
Rimuri sat up straighter in Varion's lap. "Let her in."
A swirl of green light appeared at the far end of the table. The air shimmered, and a beautiful woman with long green hair and an elegant, flowing dress materialized. Treyni, the Dryad, bowed gracefully.
"Thank you for granting me this audience," she said, voice calm but carrying an undercurrent of worry. "I come with grave news and a request. The Orc Lord has begun his march in earnest. He has used his Unique Skill, **Starved**, on his entire army. The orcs now constantly crave sustenance. They devour everything in their path — including their own kind — to grow stronger."
The room fell silent. Rimuri's face flickered with concern.
Treyni continued, "If they continue unchecked, they will consume the entire Jura Forest. The surviving orcs have already eaten the bodies of the ogres they defeated. With **Starved**, they gain copies of skills and mutations at a terrifying rate. Their numbers, their strength, their speed… everything is growing. And the worst part is that their actions are being guided by a Majin who serves a Demon Lord."
She looked directly at Rimuri. "I ask that you subjugate the Orc Lord before this plague spreads further into the forest. The Dryads and Treants under my protection cannot stand against such numbers alone."
Rimuri's expression grew serious. She glanced back at Varion, then at the rest of her subordinates. "We can't ignore this. Souei, I want you to head to the Lizardmen Chieftain and establish proper diplomatic relations. We'll need every ally we can get if we're going to face an army of two hundred thousand."
Souei bowed. "As you command."
Souei returned three days after the meeting with news that the Lizardmen Chieftain had agreed to a formal alliance discussion. The meeting was set for seven days from now at the edge of the Jura Forest, a neutral ground where both sides could speak without immediate suspicion. Rimuri was pleased, it gave them time to prepare, to strengthen the village, and to coordinate with the Kijin and the growing goblin forces.
But fate had other plans.
Only three days later, disaster struck.
Gabiru, the arrogant son of the Chieftain, had been swayed by the words of someone. In a brazen coup, he overthrew his father and took command of the Lizardmen forces. Convinced of his own superiority and power, Gabiru led the entire Lizardmen army straight into the path of the Orc Lord's horde.
The result was a slaughter.
Reports flooded in through Souei's clones. Thousands of Lizardmen dead, their lines broken by the sheer numbers and frenzied hunger of the orcs empowered by the Unique Skill **Starved**. The chief's daughter was fighting for survival, desperately trying to reach them at the moment for aid.
Rimuri didn't hesitate.
"We're moving now," she declared in an emergency meeting. "Three days early or not, we can't let them be wiped out."
The village mobilized with surprising speed. The Kijin and the goblin riders formed up under Benimaru's command. Varion stood at Rimuri's side, Prinz close behind him, both of them ready. Rimuri gave the order, and the combined force set out toward the battlefield.
They arrived just in time to save the chief's daughter.
The Lizardmen were in full retreat, their lines shattered. The orcs swarmed over them like locusts. Rimuri's group hit them hard, Benimaru's flames cleared a path, Shion's brute strength smashing through the front lines, Souei's clones striking from the shadows. The chief's daughter was pulled from the fray, battered but alive, and quickly moved to safety behind Rimuri's group.
With the immediate threat to the Lizardmen group being neutralized, the group prepared to split off and engage the main orc force in coordinated strikes.
Before they separated, Varion turned to Rimuri. His emerald eyes were bright with a mix of excitement and determination.
"Rimuri," he said quietly, voice low enough that only she could hear. "I want to try something. A move I haven't used in years. I've been eager to see how it's changed since I came to this world. Let me go ahead first."
Rimuri looked up at him, golden-yellow eyes searching his face for a moment. Then she smiled, soft and trusting. "Go ahead. Show them what a Dragonoid can do."
Varion nodded once then kissed her quickly. Then he stepped away from the group, crimson hair catching the wind as he spread his wings. With a powerful beat, he launched into the air, soaring high above the battlefield until he hovered directly over the heart of the orc army.
Down below, the group watched in silence, curious about what he was about to do.
Varion took a deep breath. The air around him seemed to still as he drew in the ambient magicules, pushing his **Stellar Heart** to overproduce magicules at full capacity. Magicules flooded his body in a torrent. He slipped into his full Dragonoid form, his features took on a wilder, more fierce appearance, scales started shimmering across his skin, wings glowing with energy, eyes burning with ancient power.
**Stellar Domination** flared to life.
He channeled every ounce of the surging energy into his palms, weaving star dust and magicule into a volatile, roiling sphere of pure destruction. Light golden white and light blue swirled into the growing orb, causing it to shine. Then the energy started to crackle and arc with raw, unstable power. The air around him warped and distorted slightly from the sheer pressure. The orb grew larger, brighter, more volatile, power visibly arcing off its surface like lightning.
The group below stared up in awe.
Benimaru's eyes widened. Shion's mouth fell open. Even Souei paused. Prinz's golden eyes sparkled with something like reverence. Rimuri's face glowed bright in wonder as she watched the display.
"That… is the power of a Dragonoid, it's more beautiful then what I read about." Prinz whispered, voice filled with awe.
Varion felt it — the raw, exhilarating surge of power he hadn't felt since the day he had used this move against Jose all those years ago. But this version was fundamentally different. More volatile. More alive. The stardust energy made the attack feel like a living star ready to explode.
He pointed one hand down at the massive orc army below, the other steadying the growing sphere.
"**DRACO NOVA!!**"
The beam of pure starlight and stardust energy tore from his palm in a devastating lance of light. It ripped through the orc ranks like a divine sword, vaporizing thousands in an instant. The beam continued onward cutting through the army and slamming into the mountain behind them carving a massive, glowing crater through it. Dust and debris exploded outward as the shockwave rolled across the battlefield.
When the light finally faded, nearly eighty thousand orcs were disintegrated due to the wide area of attack, leaving a scorched path of destruction.
The battlefield fell silent for a long, stunned moment.
Varion hovered above it all, breathing heavily but grinning. His wings were glowing softly as he looked down at the devastation he had just unleashed. A small, satisfied smile tugged at his lips.
Down below, the group stared up at him with wide eyes, the sheer scale of what they had just witnessed still sinking in.
Rimuri's voice carried up to him, filled with awe and pride. "Varion… that was incredible."
The war against the Orc Lord had just taken a dramatic turn.
