Chapter 52: Quiet Promises and Surprise Guest

The formation of the Jura Forest Alliance had been swift once the immediate threat of the Orc Lord was gone. Rimuri and the other leaders had negotiated terms that bound the surviving factions together under a loose but genuine pact of mutual defense and cooperation.

By the time the group returned to the village, the sun was already dipping low, casting long golden shadows across the village. The air smelled of woodsmoke and roasted meat from the victory feast being prepared.

Now, hours later after everything was done, the three of them had finally retreated to Varion's bedroom.

The room was dimly lit by a single lantern, its soft glow casting warm shadows across the large bed. Rimuri lay sprawled across Varion's chest, completely relaxed, her light-blue hair fanned out like a halo. Prinz was curled against his other side, one leg thrown casually over his thigh, her white hair with its signature red streak tickling his shoulder.

Varion's fingers moved slowly, threading through Rimuri's hair in gentle, soothing strokes before sliding down her back. His palm traced the curve of her spine, then lower, cupping the soft, rounded swell of her butt with affectionate laziness. He gave a light squeeze, earning a contented little giggle from her. His other hand rested possessively on Prinz's hip, thumb brushing slow circles over the smooth skin there, occasionally drifting to give her ass the same gentle attention.

Rimuri let out a long, dramatic whine, nuzzling her face into the crook of his neck. "There's going to be so much more work now," she complained, voice muffled against his skin. "Allies to coordinate with, supply lines to organize, trade agreements… I used to just worry about making sure everyone had enough food and roofs over their heads. Now I have to think about an entire alliance I have to lead now."

Varion chuckled softly, his fingers continuing their lazy exploration down her body. "You'll be fine," he murmured, voice warm and reassuring. "You've already turned a random group of goblins into a real village in just a few weeks. An alliance is just the next step."

Prinz hummed in agreement from his other side, pressing a lazy kiss to his collarbone. "She's right, though. It's going to be a lot. But you have us. And the Kijin, the dwarves, and rigurd. You're not doing this alone."

Rimuri made a small, pleased sound at the pampering, arching slightly into Varion's touch. "I know… but it's still a lot. I promised Shizu I'd help save the kids she was teaching. I can't put that off forever. But now with the alliance and everything else piling up…"

Varion's hand paused on her ass, giving it a gentle, comforting squeeze. "Don't worry about that. When the time comes to go help those kids, I'll watch over the village while you're gone. You can focus on what you need to do. I've got your back."

Rimuri lifted her head, golden-yellow eyes softening with gratitude. She leaned up and pressed a soft kiss to the bottom of his jaw, lingering there for a moment. "Thank you," she whispered, voice full of warmth. "That means a lot. But I'll probably wait a bit in order to stabilize things. "

Prinz watched the exchange with a small, content smile, her own hand tracing idle patterns on Varion's chest. The three of them lay together in comfortable silence for a while, the lantern light flickering gently across their skin. The village outside had quieted down for the night, the distant sounds of celebration long since faded into peaceful quiet.

Varion eventually spoke again, voice low and thoughtful. "I also want to go find my sister at some point. Milim. I know she's out there somewhere in this world. I've been thinking about it more since the picnic with Prinz. I don't know what I'll say to her when I find her… but I need to meet her. She's part of my family."

Prinz's fingers paused on his chest. She was quiet for a long moment, her golden eyes distant as she processed his words. Something shifted in her expression — a quiet realization that had been building for weeks. Family. The word resonated with her. She wanted this. She wanted them involved in her life. She wanted Varion to meet her parents, to walk the streets of her city she grew up in with her, to see the place she came from. She didn't want to keep hiding who she was anymore.

Prinz took a slow, steadying breath. Then she pushed herself up slightly, propping her head on her hand so she could look at both of them properly. Her usual playful mask was gone, replaced by something softer, more vulnerable.

"I… need to tell you both something," she said quietly. Her voice trembled just a little. "I haven't been completely honest about who I am."

Varion and Rimuri both turned their attention to her, expressions open and patient.

Prinz swallowed, her golden eyes growing slightly misty. "My full name is Prinz Grimwald. I'm the eldest daughter of Archduke Erald Grimwald… and a direct cousin to Empress Elmesia El Ru Sarion, the ruler of the Sorcerous Dynasty of Sarion." She looked down, biting her lower lip. "I didn't tell you earlier because… I didn't want this to end. I didn't want you to treat me differently once you knew I was basically royalty. I was having too much fun just being myself around you both. I was scared that if you knew the truth, everything would change. I love just being me with you, I love us all just having the moments where we are lazy l, I didn't want it to change."

A single tear slipped down her cheek. She quickly tried to wipe it away, but Varion was faster. He reached up, gently cupping her face and brushing the tear away with his thumb. Then he pulled her into a tighter hug, one arm wrapping around her while the other kept Rimuri close against his side.

"You're dumb if you think I'd treat you differently just because of your name," he said softly, voice warm and reassuring. He hugged her even tighter, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. "I'm the literal son of god, and you two treat me normally every day. Why would I do anything different for you?"

Prinz let out a watery laugh, as she went and kissed him deeply and said "your right i am dumb, but I just…. I love you so much just the thought of changing everything hurts."

"Hush, nothing's changing. It will still be the same as we are right now, nothing can change that I promise."

she buried her face in his chest as she clung to him tighter. Rimuri reached over and gently rubbed her back, offering silent support.

As they slowly drifted to sleep Varion thought to himself 'I will protect them, nothing will happen to the ones I love ever again.' he thought as if daring the world to try.

The next morning dawned bright and peaceful over the village. Sunlight filtered through the windows of Varion's house, warming the simple wooden table where the three of them sat enjoying a quiet breakfast. Rimuri had insisted on making it herself. She was still in her human form, wearing one of Varion's oversized shirts that hung loosely off one shoulder, her light-blue hair tied back in a messy ponytail.

Prinz sat watching her cook, with her legs crossed, wearing one of Varion's shirts as well that showed off her long, toned legs. She speared a piece of pancake with her fork and popped it into her mouth, humming happily. "This is actually really good, Rimuri. You're getting better at not burning everything."

Rimuri puffed out her chest proudly, though a faint blush dusted her cheeks. "Hey, I've been practicing! And Varion helped with the bacon this time, so it's not all me."

Varion chuckled from his seat enjoying the view, as one hand rested casually on Rimuri's thigh under the table ,after she sat next to him, while the other held his fork. "Team effort," he said with a warm smile. "Feels good to just… sit like this for once. No emergencies, no armies on the horizon."

The three of them ate in comfortable silence for a few minutes, they hoped this kind of quiet moments would become more frequent from here on out. Rimuri leaned against Varion's side, stealing bites from his plate when she thought he wasn't looking. Prinz kept shooting him soft, lingering glances, the vulnerability from last night still lingering in her golden eyes like a secret they now all shared.

Then it happened.

A massive wave of energy washed over the village like a sudden storm front. It was overwhelmingly raw, ancient, and impossibly vast. Every magicule in the air seemed to vibrate. The Kijin outside froze mid-task. Ranga's ears perked up. Even the goblins stopped what they were doing, eyes wide with instinctive fear.

Rimuri's fork clattered to her plate. "What the—? That's… !"

Prinz was already on her feet, hand instinctively reaching for the wind magic at her fingertips. "Outside. Now."

Varion stood with them, heart suddenly pounding. The three of them burst out of the house and raced to the village edge, the Kijin and goblin riders falling in behind them in a loose defensive formation.

They skidded to a halt just beyond the tree line, weapons drawn, eyes locked on the sky where the colossal energy signature was hurtling toward them like a comet.

Then Varion stopped dead in his tracks.

The energy… it felt so familiar it made his chest ache. It was like his father's, that same vast, cosmic presence but also like his own, a perfect mirror of his own being. Then the realization hit him like a physical blow.

'Milim.'

Right as the thought formed, the figure descended.

She landed lightly in front of him, no crater, no shockwave, just the soft rustle of pink twin tails settling around her shoulders despite how fat she had been flying previously. Milim Nava stood there in all her deceptive glory: platinum-pink hair flowing wildly, her outfit hugging her petite frame, a green gem gleaming at her neck, and those bright eyes locked directly onto his.

For a long, breathless second, neither of them moved.

Varion's emerald eyes widened. A single tear slipped down his cheek before he could stop it. After so long, after losing his father, after having to grow up to look after the kids, after being alone as the only one of his family left, after everything, he was finally standing face-to-face with family. Real family.

Milim was just as frozen.

Her usual playful grin was gone. Her body had gone completely still, twin tails hanging limp. Those bright blue eyes stared at him with raw, unfiltered shock. The way he felt the unmistakable echo of Veldanava in his soul… it all crashed into her at once.

'Her instincts were screaming at her one thing, he's Family.'

The word echoed through the deepest part of her, stirring up centuries of buried pain. The loss of her father. The loss of her mother. The loss of little Gaia. She had buried it all behind laughter and destruction and endless games, but seeing him tore the mask away for the briefest moment. A faint tremble ran through her small frame. Her lips parted, but no sound came out.

The entire group behind them stared on in confusion.

Varion took one shaky step forward, voice barely above a whisper as he choked out her name. "Milim…?"

The single word hung in the air between them like a lifeline.

Milim's eyes shimmered with something fragile, the first real crack in her eternal mask in longer than most alive could remember. As a tear made its way down her cheeks as well

She didn't move.

And for the first time in a very, very long time, the Demon Lord known as the Destroyer looked truly, utterly vulnerable.
