She decided to defeat the Demon Ruler standing before her as quickly as possible, before the balance of the war shifted any further.
She closed her eyes for a brief moment.
Then opened them again.
They had turned into a flawless, radiant white, devoid of any other color.
At that very instant...
A colossal golden light burst forth from her four wings, illuminating the entire sky.
She then raised her sword high above her head.
And declared in a voice that echoed across the battlefield,
"Angelic Judgment!"
The moment those words left her lips...
The heavens trembled violently.
Then...
A colossal golden pillar, as large as an entire island, descended from the sky.
It plunged toward the Demon Ruler known as the Black Sage at terrifying speed.
A ruler greatly respected among his own kind.
The Black Sage calmly raised his head.
He looked at the descending pillar of golden light.
Not the slightest trace of fear or hesitation appeared on his face.
Instead...
He slowly opened his mouth.
Suddenly...
His mouth expanded to a horrifying size, becoming as large as a mountain.
Within it...
A thick, black, viscous substance appeared, resembling an endless swamp of darkness, mixed with a strange black mucus that made the sight even more terrifying.
The next instant...
He swallowed the entire golden pillar.
Without the slightest effort.
Without taking even a single step backward.
Without receiving so much as a scratch.
It was as though that enormous pillar...
Had been nothing more than a single drop of water disappearing into a boundless ocean.
The Archangel's guardian's eyes widened in shock.
That attack had been one of her most powerful techniques.
She had been certain it would, at the very least, force her opponent to retreat.
But...
What had just happened before her eyes defied every expectation.
From that moment onward...
Her view of the Black Sage changed completely.
She no longer saw him as an opponent who could be defeated through a few well-placed attacks.
She now saw him as an extraordinarily dangerous enemy...
One worthy of her complete focus and full strength.
She realized that even a single reckless move...
Even the smallest mistake...
Could become a fatal error that would cost her life.
Therefore...
She calmed herself completely.
Tightened her grip around the hilt of her sword.
Then focused every one of her senses upon the Black Sage...
Preparing herself for a long battle in which there would be no room for underestimation or carelessness.
