Chapter 96 - Chapter 96 Dai Mubai’s Betrayal

Chapter 96 Dai Mubai's Betrayal

Feeling the Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda's light fall upon him, Luo Ling cast a brief glance at Ning Rongrong.

With his current strength, he didn't need the little witch's support at all.

Across from them, Bu Le and his two companions had also noticed the pagoda and reacted in shock.

"Is that the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda? She's from the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan?"

"No, wait—why does it have nine floors?"

Bu Le and Lao E exchanged looks of disbelief.

As for Tian Ya, he had no time to care—Luo Ling was completely restraining him.

Meanwhile, Tang San's Blue Silver Grass spread thickly across the entire battlefield as fire roared from Ma Hongjun's hands, while Zhu Zhuqing and Xiao Wu darted about attacking with speed and precision.

Only Dai Mubai pretended to fight, barely swinging his fists, his strikes half‑hearted.

Even so, the Shrek Seven pressured their enemies back, slowly gaining the upper hand.

Dai Mubai's heart began to pound—this wasn't how it was supposed to go.

These three filthy killers were far weaker than he had imagined.

Tian Ya was completely pinned down by Luo Ling alone, and under Tang San's lead, the other two were struggling miserably.

Tang San's hidden weapons flew out rapidly, forcing Bu Le and Lao E to do nothing but defend.

Sometimes sheer numbers and chaos could overwhelm skill.

With Ning Rongrong's buffs, Xiao Wu and Zhu Zhuqing's speed skyrocketed. Covered by Tang San's hidden weapons, they drove the battle forward. The two enemies were quickly pressed to the verge of collapse.

But the tide shifted suddenly.

Lao E spread his wing‑like arms and unleashed a powerful gust of wind filled with countless sharp feathers.

Tang San's eyes widened. The sight reminded him of that "ghostly conjurer" he once fought against—a storm of dark feathers raining from the sky.

Though Lao E's technique was far weaker by comparison, Tang San couldn't help feeling envious.

If only I could create a soul skill like that… all those feathers turned into hidden weapons.

Lost in thought for a split second, Tang San's attack rhythm faltered.

Taking advantage of it, Lao E's feather storm engulfed Xiao Wu and Zhu Zhuqing.

Even though the feathers weren't individually powerful, Lao E was a Soul King. The sheer volume of attacks was too much for the two fragile girls to block.

Both cried out in pain.

Xiao Wu quickly grabbed Zhu Zhuqing and, in desperation, activated her third soul skill—Teleportation.

In a flash, their figures vanished, reappearing beside Ning Rongrong.

But Xiao Wu's face was pale as snow; carrying someone along had devoured almost all of her soul power.

Seeing her injuries, Tang San's fury erupted.

"You're courting death!" he roared, his Eight Spider Lances bursting out from his back.

Bu Le and Lao E froze, eyes wide as the horrific spider legs spread open.

"What is that—is that a soul bone!?" Lao E gasped.

Bu Le's face twisted from shock to greed.

Now he understood why the cloaked man had wanted the Blue Silver Grass boy dead. It wasn't for his spirit—it was for the soul bone!

Bu Le's heart pounded with wild excitement.

A soul bone!

For impoverished soul masters like him, a soul bone was a myth—a dream.

And those eight legs were clearly no ordinary piece.

In his mind, Bu Le could already see himself wearing that soul bone, standing atop the world in glory.

"What are you staring at, you idiot?!" Lao E's frantic shout tore him from his fantasy.

Tang San, strengthened by his Eight Spider Lances, had already regained momentum. The eight sharp legs stabbed into the ground and walls, catapulting his body forward.

Dodging the feathers, he lunged straight at Lao E.

Bu Le jolted back to life and summoned his pink barrier to ensnare Tang San.

But Tang San leapt into the air, eight obsidian blades glinting as he swooped down.

Lao E tried to roll aside, but he wasn't fast enough. The spider spears impaled his wings, blood splattering in arcs.

"AHHH!" Lao E screamed in agony, thrashing desperately, trying to pull back. But the lances only dug deeper, ripping his wing clean apart.

He fell backward with a shriek, clutching the bleeding appendage.

Tang San didn't even pause, preparing to attack again.

Then Bu Le's barrier struck. The pink glow wrapped tightly around Tang San, binding him mid‑leap.

Startled, Tang San struggled, driving his Eight Spider Lances against it—

And at that instant, a searing white beam slammed into his back.

The shockwave hurled him across the alley, a wave of burning pain spreading through his body.

Everyone froze, eyes wide, turning toward the source.

Dai Mubai stood there, chest heaving, face twisted in rage.

"Boss Dai—what are you doing?!" Ma Hongjun cried in disbelief.

Dai Mubai gave no answer. His cold gaze cut toward Ma Hongjun, then flicked to Bu Le. "Well? What are you waiting for? Don't forget our agreement."

Bu Le stared for a second before smirking, realization dawning.

"What's the meaning of this, Boss Dai? You know these people?" Ma Hongjun demanded, confusion mingled with dread.

"Heh. You're not completely stupid, Fatty," Dai Mubai sneered. "If you don't want to die, walk away now. I'll make sure they spare you."

"Dai Mubai, what are you doing?!" Oscar shouted.

"I'm finishing what I started—killing Tang San and Luo Ling!" Dai Mubai's laughter turned maniacal.

Oscar froze. Luo Ling was one thing—but Tang San? What had he done to deserve this?

"Why? Why does that lowborn trash get to have an external soul bone? A divine treasure like that should be mine!"

Dai Mubai's eyes burned with hatred as he glared at Tang San's unconscious body.

"And that bastard Luo Ling—he dared to cut off my arm and steal my woman! I'll see him dead!"

Everyone's eyes shifted to Luo Ling—who merely stood watching, expression flat, as though observing an insect.

"Still that same smug look! Let's see if you can stay calm after we finish Tang San!" Dai Mubai snarled, voice trembling with rage.

On the battlefield, Tang San lay motionless. Xiao Wu was drained, Zhu Zhuqing injured, Oscar and Ning Rongrong powerless, and Ma Hongjun barely standing.

With Dai Mubai joining the enemy, hope seemed lost.

But Dai Mubai had underestimated Luo Ling.

Luo Ling shook his head slightly. He couldn't let this play out—Tang San was too important.

He still needed to mold him into a dark soul master, to ensure that both he and Yu Xiaogang were publicly ruined at the tournament.

And he certainly couldn't allow harm to come to Ning Rongrong and the others.

Sighing, he turned away from Dai Mubai and looked back at his opponent, Tian Ya.

The act had gone on long enough.

Dark energy surged into his scythe. Tian Ya's instincts screamed danger, but before he could react, a black arc of light swept through the air.

It didn't even look fast. But by the time Tian Ya blinked, Luo Ling had already stepped past him, scythe lowered.

He hadn't even needed to use Dark Severance—just a single, casual strike brimming with malicious power.

Tian Ya stood frozen, eyes widening, a thin red line tracing slowly down his face.

A second later—he split apart.

Corrosive darkness devoured his remains, reducing his body to nothing more than a pool of black water at Luo Ling's feet.
