Chapter 100: Devouring the Energy of Tang San's Eight Spider Lances
After the enemy vanished underground, not even exhausting his full soul power and spiritual sense allowed Flender to detect anything.
Whoever the attacker was, their strength was at least that of a Spirit Sage.
In the sky, Flender had been the hunter. But below ground, he was helpless.
And Xiao Wu's determined expression, the calm in her eyes—it lingered with him.
The way she had returned unharmed after being captured by the Titan Giant Ape—there was something more to her.
Her explanation for that incident hadn't held up under scrutiny. To someone as shrewd as Flender, she practically screamed of hidden secrets.
Did she, too, have a special identity—perhaps protected by some powerful guardian, one who had saved her from the Titan Giant Ape?
It was, to him, the most reasonable explanation.
And if Xiao Wu truly had such protection, then maybe she could bring Tang San back.
"Dean, you're really letting Xiao Wu go alone?" Oscar asked uneasily.
"With the bond between her and Tang San, there's no stopping her. We'll stay here and wait for her return."
That was Flender's final word.
His calm reaction left the other Shrek students—and even Zhao Wuji—confused.
When Xiao Wu had been taken before, Flender had nearly fought the Titan Giant Ape to his death trying to save her.
But now, with Tang San abducted by some unknown soul master, though Flender had erupted in anger at first, he seemed oddly composed once Xiao Wu pursued.
Did he really believe she could bring Tang San back?
Questions filled the group's minds.
After leaving, Xiao Wu released her aura.
They were still within the Star Dou Forest. The Titan Giant Ape and Sky Blue Bull Python couldn't have gone far.
Moments later, she sensed them. In the distance, two immense figures charged toward her.
"Xiao Wu-jie, come with me! I sensed what happened!" Er Ming's voice boomed inside her mind.
Joy spread across Xiao Wu's face. She leapt effortlessly onto Er Ming's shoulder—they moved in seamless harmony.
Deep below ground—
A dark, cramped space surrounded by massive roots of a dead tree. Each root was as thick as a man's torso.
In the hollow at their center lay Tang San, bound around the trunk by thick roots, unconscious.
"Young Master, it's ready," Elder Scorpion reported.
He had been the one to act, using his fifth spirit skill—Earth Escape.
That technique allowed him to drag Tang San underground without a trace.
His timing had been perfect—striking just after Tang San retracted his spider legs, when Flender and Zhao Wuji were most relaxed.
His last strike succeeded, and Tang San was captured.
Once underground, Elder Scorpion had rendered him unconscious, tying him securely to the roots, awaiting his master's arrival.
"Little hypocrite," Dugu Feng muttered coldly. "Every time I read about you, I wanted to throttle you—playing righteous while practicing evil.
Your external spirit bone devours life-force as viciously as any spirit beast, yet you call your enemies monsters.
During the tournament, you 'purified' Spirit Hall's team by draining their vitality with those same powers.
Using brutality is fine—against foes, ruthlessness is strength.
But that self-righteous mask afterward… How thick can one's skin be? What a hypocrite!"
He sneered. "Jade Phosphor Serpent—possess!"
A green diamond-shaped scale appeared between his brows. His eyes turned amethyst.
From his shoulders, his external spirit bone—the deadly crystal scorpion claws—snapped free.
The sharp tips pierced straight into Tang San's back.
Immediately, Dugu Feng could sense it—the eight ribs along Tang San's spine, where the Eight Spider Lances' energy lay entrenched.
He was intimately familiar with the energy of external spirit bones.
When manifested, such bones formed physical extensions of a spirit master's body. But within, they were pure energy, fused with corresponding skeletal sections.
His scorpion claws merged with his shoulder bones; Tang San's Eight Spider Lances were fused with his ribs.
"He's only just obtained them," Dugu Feng murmured. "The fusion with his ribs is still shallow."
His eyes sparkled. "Perfectly distinct. Excellent. Devour!"
The scorpion claws jabbed precisely between two ribs.
With the assistance of his spirit orb, a tremendous vortex of absorption erupted.
Rings of green light shimmered across the claws.
Tang San's body convulsed violently—shaking as though his very bones might shatter.
Even unconscious, he instinctively struggled against the invasion, but it was useless.
The claws were steeped in dominance. They turned a deep purple-green as wave after wave of violet energy streamed from Tang San into Dugu Feng.
From the claws, the power flowed into his shoulders, coursing downward along his spine, then infusing into his ribs.
Dugu Feng's heart pounded wildly.
All his plans—all his manipulations—had led to this moment.
He had even provoked Tang Hao, orchestrated the conflict between Spirit Hall and the Clear Sky Sect—all to ensure this chance.
Otherwise, Tang San's first trip to the Star Dou Forest might have been under Tang Hao's protection.
But fate had played into his hands.
The Eight Spider Lances were becoming his.
Tang San's body trembled harder. Two ribs softened visibly, the marrow within being drawn out and absorbed.
"Continue."
The scorpion claws withdrew and plunged into the next pair of ribs.
Behind Dugu Feng, small mounds rose along his spine.
In moments, they burst open—eight dark purple legs sprouting outward.
At last, he relaxed and smiled.
The Eight Spider Lances now belonged to him.
Beside him, Elder Scorpion was beyond astonished.
Following the young master… every day brought a new miracle.
An external spirit bone—a relic most considered mythical—had now appeared twice.
And both times, his young master had taken them for himself.
No one in the world would believe it.
Elder Scorpion cast a sympathetic glance at Tang San. Poor boy. You just picked the wrong person to cross.
In his dreams, Tang San groaned, trapped in a nightmare.
He saw the elders of the Tang Sect capturing Xiao Wu, threatening him at the edge of Ghostly Cliff, demanding his surrender.
He knew it couldn't be real—he was in Douluo Continent, not the world he once came from.
But knowing it was a dream made it no less terrifying.
His body shook uncontrollably.
Meanwhile, behind Dugu Feng, the sixth, seventh, and eighth spider legs pushed through in succession, spreading wide.
Tang San's back collapsed inward, muscles soft and hollowed.
How glorious this feels!
He laughed aloud, his voice echoing in the underground hollow.
"Tang San," he sneered, "so even you can fall so low!"
