Chapter 393 - Chapter 393: Fairy Glitter

"You're out."

Before Raizel could even say anything, Mavis pointed at him, delivering her swift verdict.

"Huh?" Raizel pointed at himself, momentarily stunned.

'You could at least ask me first.'

"You don't need to learn this. Your magic is already strong enough, and you're practicing Archive Magic and Teleportation. It wouldn't be very suitable for you."

Ignoring Raizel's reaction, Mavis turned her gaze to Mira. "Mira isn't suitable either. Take Over demons aren't compatible with Fairy Glitter. It'd be quite difficult to train."

The Three Great Fairy Magics are pure light-based attributes, which would naturally conflict with demonic factors. Mira knew this and nodded silently.

"As for Wendy, focusing on her Dragon Slayer Magic is sufficient." Mavis smiled. "Ultear, Erza, Kagura, and Cana—if you want to learn, just say so. If not, that's fine too."

After surveying everyone present, Mavis finished speaking and stood still, waiting for their choices.

Cana hesitated for only a second before nodding. "First Master, I want to learn it."

With a ready-made Ultra Magic right in front of her, Cana felt she'd be doing herself a disservice to pass it up.

Even though it had nothing to do with her card magic, it was powerful!

It was one of Fairy Tail's Three Great Magics!

"I already have Gravity Magic, and I'd rather focus on practicing with my sword." Kagura touched her scabbard, Archenemy, and took a step back.

"That's fine. Gravity Magic is also a very powerful magic," Mavis nodded in acknowledgment.

"I also believe in my Requip." Erza wrestled with the choice for a moment before standing with Kagura.

That left only Ultear.

She was already practicing Ice-Make Magic and the Arc of Time, both of which were quite practical in combat.

Moreover, Ultear's Ice-Make was similar to Ur's, leaning toward large-scale area-of-effect attacks.

Its function was somewhat similar to Fairy Glitter, just with a different attribute.

But she didn't want to disappoint Mavis's kindness either.

"I'll learn it too." After an internal struggle, Ultear finally nodded.

'Learning it shouldn't be a problem. How well I master it is another matter...'

Mavis nodded happily. "Good! You all live in the girls' dorm at Fairy Hills... I'll come find you in your rooms after 9 PM."

As for before 9 PM? She was going out to have fun. Magnolia's nightlife was just too good to pass up.

"Yes," Cana and Ultear nodded simultaneously.

The members once again threw themselves into their respective training.

Mavis didn't leave immediately. Instead, she sat on a tree branch, swinging her legs and watching everyone practice.

"First Master, why did you suddenly decide to teach them Fairy Glitter?" Raizel asked, his hands folded behind his head as he leaned back against the tree trunk.

"Hmm..." Mavis lightly touched her chin with her index finger and tilted her head slightly upward.

'Is this question really that hard to answer...?' Just as Raizel was about to voice his complaint, Mavis raised her index finger and wagged it.

"First, I need to correct your wording. Not 'everyone.' I would only consider S-Class members, or members capable of going to Tenrou Island to take the S-Class exam." Mavis extended her second finger.

"Second, I can feel their determination to grow stronger through diligent training, and Fairy Glitter suits them well. Third, I simply get along with all of them."

In the past, Mavis wouldn't have so readily taught the Three Great Fairy Magics to guild members.

It required both the right temperament and natural talent.

Fortunately, under Makarov's leadership, this group possessed both qualities, so Mavis didn't overthink it.

Mavis also planned to discuss with Makarov about selecting guild members to teach Fairy Sphere later.

As for Fairy Law, that remained a magic only the Guild Master should learn, though exceptions could sometimes be made under special circumstances.

Unlike the other two magics, Fairy Law's immense destructive power came at the cost of the user's lifespan.

The more enemies eliminated, the more lifespan would be consumed, making it unsuitable for casual use.

Makarov hadn't used Fairy Law for over a decade. Or rather, he'd only used it a handful of times since learning it.

It was a magic reserved for when the guild faced existential threats, to be used with the determination to sacrifice one's life.

"Alright then." Raizel didn't expect Mavis's answer to be so straightforward.

Anyway, Fairy Glitter had no severe side effects; it was just an ultimate offensive technique.

Learning it wouldn't hurt, and it could even be used to show off occasionally.

"I heard the Third Master wanted to teach you Fairy Law back then, but you refused?" Mavis swung her small feet, gripping the branch as she looked down at Raizel, who was pretending to nap, her eyes filled with curiosity.

Raizel opened his eyes, meeting Mavis's inquisitive gaze.

"I'm afraid of dying."

"You're so blunt..." Mavis muttered, momentarily stunned.

"This world is so vast, I want to live a few more years. If I can use other magic, I won't resort to Fairy Law." Raizel listed, "There's the Alvarez Empire in the Western Continent, and Giltena in the Northern Continent. Wait, that's not right. I've been to the Western Continent once, but didn't get to explore it much."

"I've never been to the Western or Northern Continents either!"

Hearing about the Western Continent, Mavis's eyes sparkled with curiosity. When she traveled around with August, he never took her there.

They traveled on foot, only using teleportation for particularly difficult paths. So despite being away for so long, they hadn't actually covered much of Ishgar.

If traveling by foot alone, the continent would take an ordinary person a lifetime to traverse.

"Let's go together when we have the chance."

'But only after Zeref's matter is resolved,' Raizel silently added in his heart.

"Yes, yes!" Mavis nodded vigorously.

Traveling always allowed her to experience different customs and cultures, something she enjoyed!

...

That night, Mavis walked with light steps to the girls' dormitory entrance.

"Cana, Ultear, come down!"

"First Master... I'm behind you," Cana's voice came from behind Mavis.

Turning around, Mavis saw Cana standing quietly, holding a leash and carrying a small backpack.

"Woof! Woof!" Snowy barked at the empty air, sensing something strange in front of her.

"Thinking it wasn't time yet, I took Snowy out for a walk first." Cana explained.

Snowy wagged her tail, looking up at Cana before gazing forward.

Not being the brightest dog, she couldn't quite understand why her owner had started talking to empty air.

"It's alright, there's still time. You can take her upstairs first."

As Mavis finished speaking, Ultear had already changed into training clothes and opened the front door.

"First Master, where should we practice?"

"Right here," Mavis pointed to the ground.

Fairy Hills was situated somewhat like an isolated island, with one side connected to Magnolia and the other three sides surrounded by the sea.

It was perfect for practicing Fairy Glitter by directing it toward the ocean—essentially, magical fish bombing!
