Chapter—The Valentine's Paradox
The mid-February sun hung low over the clearing, casting long, golden shadows across the scorched earth where the South Asian Alliance had forged a new level of power. Auron stood at the center, his silver cape swaying in a dry breeze. For the last four hours, he had pushed the boundaries of his aura, expanding his shield until it felt like his very soul was being stretched thin across the horizon.
Beside him, as always, Zoya stood as a silent spectator. Her violet aura was a calm ripple in the air, but her eyes were fixed on the silver figure with an intensity that had nothing to do with combat training.
Auron let the shield dissipate with a soft, resonant hum. He was exhausted. His mind was a chaotic knot of variables: the five remaining nodes hiding in the shadows, the mounting pressure of the Aura Earth Shield, and most confusingly, the recent, erratic behavior of the people around him.
"Thank you for today, Zoya," Auron said, his voice metallic and steady through the mask. "Your presence helps the stabilization. I'll be leaving now."
"Wait, Auron," Zoya said, stepping forward. Her usual shyness was there, but it was fighting against a newfound determination.
Auron stopped, half-turning. "Yes? Is there an update on the nodes?"
"No," Zoya whispered, looking at her boots. "It's about… the promise I mentioned .Do you remember?"
"I do," Auron replied. "What is it you want me to do?"
Zoya took a deep breath, her violet light pulsing. "On February 14th… will you come with me? I want us to roam around the world together. Just for that day. No training, no hunting. Just… us."
Auron froze. February 14th. The date echoed in the chambers of his mind like a recurring alarm. He had heard this date only yesterday. Marin. She had called him in that crimson-lit cafe and then asked in phone call for his companionship on the exact same day.
"Auron? Auron!"
Zoya's voice broke through his internal static. He blinked behind the visor. "I… I was thinking."
"Are you free that day?" Zoya asked, her voice hopeful but trembling. "I've been waiting to ask you for a long time."
"I have to check my schedule," Auron said, his brain frantically trying to untangle the sudden conflict. "I'm not sure what is special about that day, but I will confirm with you tomorrow."
"I'll be expecting a 'yes'," Zoya said with a soft, shy smile before taking flight.
Auron sat down on a nearby stone, his head in his hands. The "Unique Auramaster" was currently defeated by a calendar. *What is happening?* he thought. *Marin asks for the 14th. Zoya asks for the 14th. Is there some global event I missed?*
Luke de-unified in a dark alleyway near his home, his mind still a mess of tangled strings.
"Luke, you're a genius with aura, but you're an idiot with people," Auru whispered, floating beside him. "Don't you realize what's going on?"
"No, I don't!" Luke whispered back. "Is it a festival? A planetary alignment? Why is everyone obsessed with next Tuesday?"
"I need facts," Luke decided. He pulled out his phone and dialed Liod.
He return home , and go inside his room.
Luke thought "I think My friend can tell something."
He called the Liod.
"Hey, Luke!" Liod picked up on the second ring. "What's up? Is there a dungeon emergency?"
"No, no," Luke said, trying to sound casual. "I was just wondering… what are your plans for the 14th? I was thinking of maybe a training session."
"Oh, sorry man, I'm booked," Liod said, and Luke "I'm doing some shopping with Shuri that day. You're busy anyway, right? She said you were occupied."
*Busy?* Luke thought. *I wasn't busy until five minutes ago.* "Right. Busy. Thanks, Liod."
He hung up and immediately called Uno.
"Uno, hey. The 14th—are you free for a strategy meeting?"
"No can do, bro," Uno replied instantly. "I've got plans with Chika. We're heading out to the city. Is everything okay? You sound… confused."Lyke can't see them but practically see his blushing.
"I'm fine," Luke muttered. "Just checking the schedule."
He ended the call, his heart pounding. Every single member of his circle was paired off with someone else for that specific day. There was only one person left who might give him a straight answer without the blushing. He dialed Kael.
"Luke! How's it going?" Kael's voice was booming and cheerful.
"Kael, tell me the truth. What is February 14th?"
There was a long pause on the other end. "Wait… are you serious? You're joking, right?"
"Kael, I am literally begging you. What is the significance of that day?"
Kael burst into a loud, hearty laugh. "Man, you really are an 'Average' sometimes! It's Valentine's Day! You know, the day of love? The day where lovers spend time together and people confess their feelings? I've been preparing for weeks! I've got a gift for my girlfriend and everything."
Luke felt the world tilt. Valentine's Day. The lovers' holiday.
"Are you planning to confess to someone, my friend?" Kael asked teasingly. "Is that why you're so stressed?"
"I… the information has been received. Thank you, Kael," Luke said, hanging up before Kael could ask more.
Kael after ranging up the phone confused" What information, and why he called me?"
Luke slumped to his knees on the floor of his room, the "tangled strings" of his mind finally straightening out into a terrifying pattern.
"Every one of them," Luke whispered. "They're all going on dates. Uno and Chika… we knew they liked each other. That's one dot connected."
"And Liod and Shuri," Auru added, her silver light flickering with excitement. "We knew Shuri liked him, but it seems Liod is finally catching on."
"Which leads to…" Luke stopped. His face turned a deep, scorching red. "Marin. Marin asked me to be her companion on Valentine's Day. She talked about our childhood. She talked about us being rivals. Auru… does she actually like me?"
Auru remained silent for a moment, a small, mischievous smile on her glowing face. "It's possible, Luke. Or maybe it's a coincidence and she just wants to buy guild supplies?"
"But then… what about Auron?" Luke's eyes widened. "Zoya asked Auron to roam the world on Valentine's Day. She called it a 'promise.' Auru, does Zoya want to be… Auron's Valentine?"
"I think it's true," Auru said softly. "Zoya likes the hero. Marin likes the boy. And you, Luke… you are both."
Luke fell back onto his bed, staring at the ceiling.
Luke whispered "I literally wnat to samsh by head on wall in this situation."
The complexity of the devil invasion seemed simple compared to this. He was being pulled in two directions by two different women, and both of them were his closest allies in the coming war.
"If I say yes to Marin, I have to reject Zoya," Luke whispered. "If I go as Auron, I break Marin's heart. And if Marin really does like me… how am I supposed to protect her while I'm planning to spend my 'life-spark' on a 2% survival chance?"
He looked at Auru. "I have to find out if it's true. I have to know if Marin's feelings are real or if I'm just imagining things because I'm overwhelmed."
"And what about Zoya?" Auru asked.
Luke closed his eyes, the weight of the silver mask and the student's bookbag both feeling equally heavy. "One crisis at a time, Auru. One crisis at a time."
As the night deepened, the countdown to the Aura Earth Shield was momentarily eclipsed by the countdown to February 14th. Luke was no longer just a guardian of the planet; he was a boy caught in a web of love and duty, trying to figure out how to be a hero without breaking the hearts of the people he was sworn to protect.
