Chapter 100 - Something I’m Not Seeing Yet

"Caramel latte!" I call out, sliding the cup I just made onto the counter, and a girl with headphones steps forward. She grabs it with a quick smile and disappears back into the maze of shelves.

I wipe my hands on my apron and turn immediately to the next order.

Behind me, the soft murmur of the café blends with the quieter rustle of the library side, and I smile. It's odd how the distinct duality of this place brings me peace.

The smell of coffee, and the sound of pages turning. The gentle conversations and the occasional scrape of chairs.

It's always like this around this time of day. Busy, but not chaotic. Just enough noise to remind you that you're not alone.

I move quickly between the counter and the pastry display, restocking the croissants that somehow disappear faster than I can possibly 

explain.

"Do you have anything without sugar?" a man asks behind me, and I reply without looking at him.

"Yes," I reply smoothly.
