Alice's POV
That evening, there was a welcome dinner where I met Maya's other executives and learned about the company culture. Everyone was smart and driven and I felt both excited and intimidated.
"Tomorrow we'll do team building exercises," Maya announced. "And then in the evening we have a wine tasting planned."
The next few days were intense with long workshops and strategy sessions. I learned more about AI technology than I ever thought I'd need to know, and I could see why Maya's company was so successful.
On the fourth night we had the wine tasting at a local vineyard and that's when I met David.
He was Maya's business partner and the CFO of the company, tall with sandy blond hair and blue eyes that seemed to see right through me.
"You must be Alice," he said, extending his hand. "Maya hasn't stopped talking about you all week."
"All good things I hope," I said, shaking his hand.
