Alice's POV
I woke up to Bryan already dressed and on the phone in the hallway. His voice was low, but I could tell he was talking to someone important because he kept saying "yes" and "make it happen fast." When he came back into the bedroom, I sat up and looked at him.
"Who was that?" I asked as I reached for Grace in her crib next to the bed. She was awake but quiet, just staring at the ceiling.
"Security company," Bryan explained as he sat on the edge of the bed. "Alice, I am setting up twenty-four seven guards for the house starting today. The PI said someone is still watching us and I cannot take chances with you and the kids."
My stomach dropped because the words made everything feel too real. "Guards all the time? Bryan the kids will be scared. Hope already had nightmares last night about bad people coming to get us."
