Alice's POV
Bryan stood up fast because anger was all over his face. "Then we go to the police right now. We tell them everything and get protection."
"It is not that simple," Elizabeth interrupted as she looked up at him. "The crime family has people inside law enforcement. If you go to the wrong person they will know before you leave the station. You need a federal contact someone outside the local chain. I can help with that but it takes time."
I felt tears start because the fear was too much. "My kids are at home right now with guards we just hired. If these people are that connected, how do we know the guards are even safe? How do we trust anyone?"
Elizabeth reached across the table and took my hand. "Carl and his team are clean. I checked them myself before Bryan hired them. But Alice you need to move the family to a safe location temporarily. Somewhere off the grid until we can coordinate with the feds and take this family down for good."
