Chapter 46 - The Beginning 7

I collapsed onto the sofa and laid my head on the seat.

Nothing had been pleasant lately, though.

Benonia was the first to skip and come closer to us

– Wait!..... Is that him?

She burst out laughing, rocking back and forth like a madwoman, unable to restrain herself

– You… You really did it, hahaha~

She cried out, almost breathless.

Hérèse looked at her with such disdain that I almost felt pain for her, but what's with that son of a bitch look?

She threw herself onto his neck and he gave me his usual nasty look.

It's not my fault, birds of a feather flock together.

– Phew~, stop grabbing it, you can see that"That he doesn't like it," I blurted out without even looking at them.

I reached out and picked up the bowl of biscuits carelessly placed on the table.

But to my great delight, Benonia was much more enthusiastic than I expected.

"He's so cute," she said, gently touching hérèse face.

She scrutinized him from every angle, and I reveled in her expression of disgust.

I think I've fallen in love, I love messing with that bastard too much.

Even the other three girls gained a little more confidence and moved towards him.

It looked like a small dog; it was backing up so much that it hit the flower pot in the corner.

"Be careful," I told Him with all the love that lay deep in my stomach.

But I think he got angry, I would need to look at his eyes, oh my god, I'm so scared.

It will be even more jaw-dropping.

How could I resist if you make such a pleasant face?

He seemed really distressed, it looked like he wanted to merge with the wall and make his poor daughters.

I felt sorry for him and held out my hand

"Come sit down," I suggested to him.

But instead of rage I saw a smile appear on his lips, he regained a kind of calm and slowly raised his hand with a clearly visible middle finger.

Benonia dramatically covered her lips as if she were touched by the act, she cast furtive glances between the two of us as if she expected us to jump on each other.

I bit my cheek from the inside, staring at my hand still hanging there, my desire to put it around his neck had just increased and to make matters worse he gave me one of his most beautiful smiles, changing our attitude completely in a fraction of a second.

"Okay, I'm going, girls," he said sarcastically.

– to have a good evening.

He grabbed the handle and opened the door.

The music seeped right into the walls.

An old neon sign blinked above us.

Benonia sneered immediately.

- he left ?

She said, flashing that satisfied smile.

which she would take when she thought she had won something.

I remained motionless in my seat.

Silent.

The girls exchanged an amused glance.

These girls couldn't even hold back their mocking smiles.

Those things weren't really my friends.

They spent their time taking jabs at each other disguised as jokes, smiling too hard, waiting for another to make a fool of herself before going home to talk about it.

And this time, I allowed myself to lose face in front of those vultures.

I gritted my teeth, I wanted to explode.

Insult him.

Catch up with him and call him an idiot in front of everyone.

But I refused to give them that spectacle.

So I get up nonchalantly and follow him out.

Outside, the cold air hit much harder after the stifling heat of the makeshift club.

Heresy was already walking towards the street without slowing down.

I quickened my pace before roughly grabbing his arm.

– What exactly are you playing at?

He turned his head slightly towards her.

– Pardon?, I'm asking you the same question.

His tone was curt, aggressive… but I knew a little bit that I had no real reason to hold him back.

I had kind of forced him to come here.

I wanted to corner him in a place he didn't know.

Always playing the perfect guy.

I crossed my arms, trying to regain the advantage.

– Do you think you can just walk back in like that?

You don't even know where you are.

He looked at me for a few seconds, then calmly withdrew his arm from my hand.

Without anger.

Without provocation.

That calmness annoyed me even more.

A taxi happened to pass by at the end of the street.

He takes the lead.

I frowned.

- Seriously ?

He simply opened the door.

– Thank you for the visit.

And got into the taxi before I could reply.

The car started immediately, leaving me alone under the red lights of the abandoned building, a bit like a toxic ex.

The return journey seemed endless; the smell of salt was quite distant now.

I lowered the window, enjoying the evening breeze.

I left without a destination; several times I had the impression that the driver had taken the wrong road.

I myself recognized almost nothing.

Miraculously, I eventually managed to find my way back to my neighborhood and was able to find myself again.

But with every meter that brought me closer to home, my heart seemed to tease and contract hard.

– (You can leave now)

When I got out of the taxi, I stopped in front of the house for a few seconds.

I was supposed to arrive at two o'clock.

A few excuses could justify that.

I opened the door as discreetly as possible.

Removing my shoes silently.

He took a step down the corridor.

Then a cold voice immediately broke the silence.

– Are you going to explain to me where you were?

I slowly raised my head.

François was sitting on the edge of my stairs, arms crossed, clearly having been waiting for me for a while.
