May Sutton didn't dare go. What if they traced it back to her? She changed the subject. "When did you get back?"
"I didn't keep track. Everyone was already asleep when I returned. If there's nothing else, please step aside so I don't hit your nose when I close the door." Cecilia Adler put her hand on the door, threatening to slam it.
May Sutton reflexively stepped back.
Cecilia Adler smoothly closed the door and bolted it from the inside.
"That wretched girl! No manners at all," May Sutton spat.
Vivian Lee sidled up to her. "Mom, did you notice anything?"
"Notice what? You just made that up to stop me from finding Ian Quincy, didn't you!"
"Suit yourself." Exhausted from the wasted effort, Vivian Lee went back to her room to rest. When she woke up, she remembered her promise to bring Felix Flynn a meal. She immediately got up, went into the kitchen, and washed her hands to prepare the food.
Cecilia Adler was up as well. Thirsty, she went to the kitchen for a drink of water.
