Cecilia Adler didn't dare to argue any further.
The man pushed her little cart forward, and she obediently followed behind him.
But the more she thought about it, the more something felt wrong.
'Lots of people told me that as long as you aren't caught red-handed, the worst you'll get is a scolding. I only just walked in. Shouldn't he just be shooing me away? Why is he taking me with him?'
'It's not like I broke any laws.'
She decided to fight back.
She landed a punch on the back of his neck, snatched back her cart, and ran.
The man was stunned for a good while before it registered that he'd been hit by a woman. Clutching the back of his neck, he gave chase.
He hadn't run more than a few steps before he tripped, twisted his ankle, and let out a yelp of pain.
Just as he scrambled to his feet, someone blocked his path.
He looked up and got a clear view of the man standing before him. His mind immediately went to the young woman from moments ago.
"You... You are."
