"Sylvia, you're awake."
Upon seeing Sylvia Vaughn, Joanna Jacobs showed no sign of being flustered, instead placing the object in her hand into her purse with a perfectly natural motion. It seemed as if it wasn't anything important.
Besides, Sylvia Vaughn hadn't gotten a clear look at what the object was. Seeing Joanna Jacobs tuck it into her bag so casually, she didn't think anything of it.
"Mm-hm." Sylvia Vaughn nodded. "Is my aunt in her room?"
Joanna Jacobs smiled and shook her head, closing Yvonne Vaughn's door as she went. She walked slowly toward the main entrance. "Your aunt and your mother went out for a walk, and your father said he had a last-minute social engagement, so he went out. We were going to call you for dinner, but you were sleeping so soundly that we didn't want to disturb you."
Her maternal aunt had a habit of taking a stroll after dinner to aid digestion. After Yvonne Vaughn returned to the country, she had started joining her.
