Aiden Shaw had a vague sense that Naomi Neal's feelings for him weren't purely platonic.
He had planned on clearing the air with her yesterday, but before he had the chance, Laura Lowell had already misunderstood.
"I'll keep my distance from Naomi Neal. Don't worry."
Hannah Hale nodded. "Good. But she doesn't want to see you right now. Come back later to coax her."
"I know. You go on in. I just bought her some congee. Make sure she eats it in a bit."
Watching Hannah Hale go inside, Aiden Shaw leaned against the wall, wearily rubbing his temples.
The night before last, he had been on duty at the hospital, performing surgeries back-to-back with almost no sleep. He'd only gotten just over an hour of rest at home during the day before being called back to the hospital.
He'd spent all of last night with her, not sleeping a wink, and now he was completely exhausted.
...
For breakfast, Laura Lowell only managed less than half a bowl of congee before losing her appetite.
