Aiden Shaw watched Laura, his gaze winding around her as gently as a thread of yarn, filled with overwhelming adoration.
"But the hospital is so busy. Will the director even approve your time off?"
Their wedding was still over a month away, so Aiden didn't really need to take his leave now. Besides, their two mothers had already taken care of almost all the wedding preparations, big and small.
Keith Chambers, sitting across the table, swirled the wine in his stemmed glass and said coolly, "The entire hospital belongs to the Shaw Group. The director wouldn't dare say no."
"Oh, I see."
Laura Lowell smiled faintly, took a small sip of the juice to her right, and asked, "By the way, Keith, what did you do before this?"
"Special forces, but I'm retired now."
Keith Chambers had been critically injured on a mission, and Aiden Shaw had risked his own life to save him. It was a bond forged in a life-or-death situation.
"Really? You were in the special forces? That's so awesome!"
