The next morning, Leona Grant woke to the sound of a muffled commotion.
He rolled out of bed in confusion, quickly washed his face, and opened the door to step outside.
"Young Madam, are you really leaving?" Madam King asked sadly.
"Yes. I have to leave sooner or later. I happen to be free today, so I'll pack up and move out."
Annabelle Linton didn't explain further. She picked up a box of medicine from the table and handed it to Madam King. "Madam King, please take care of yourself after I'm gone. You're getting older and your legs aren't what they used to be. Remember to dress warmly on rainy days and try not to get wet.
"This is medicine for your rheumatoid arthritis. I picked it up from the hospital yesterday. Remember to apply it when you feel pain. One course of treatment is three boxes, and five courses should cure it completely. But don't use too much; all medicine has side effects."
