A Bite from One's Own Abyss
Appearance
A large, blackish-purple organic form, about the size of a papaya.
The surface is matte and velvety, as if it were swallowing the light.
Inside, a dark core glows like a sleeping eye, giving one the feeling of being watched, even when asleep.
No two shadow bodies look alike.
And yet, they are instantly recognizable.
Not by their shape…
but by the fact that something about them just doesn't seem right.
Some say it's their color.
Others, their pulsing.
And yet, they all share the following characteristics:
A soft whisper (only when close).
The temperature seems "wrong" (cold, but not really).
It draws in light with a minimal, almost magical, pull.
But the ancients know:
It is the shadow… that disobeys.
Ability
Whoever consumes it manifests their own shadow side:
the repressed desires, fears, aggressions, and potentials of the abyss.
This shadow:
can appear as a second form.
can serve as an additional source of power.
can also remain in the body and amplify abilities.
But it constantly fights for control, ultimately consuming you completely in darkness.
The shadow is not only your inner demon, but also contains a fragment of the original darkness. This fragment is not always the same; some shadow bodies have a larger and more powerful core, while others have a smaller and weaker one.
One must never consume two shadow bodies!
One shadow body awakens your shadow.
Two shadow bodies awaken shadow fragments that do not match each other and would become unstable.
A metaphysical "core fracture" occurs:
The two shadows begin to compete for the same body.
They try to devour each other.
The shadows merge into an unstable, chaotic "super-shadow form."
The body cannot withstand this.
The consequences:
Immediate physical mutation.
Loss of self.
The shadow takes over completely.
The being becomes a "shadow void"—a living hole in the consciousness of the world.
These creatures erase memories, identities, entire personalities until they themselves implode.
