The Chalice of Foreign Souls
Appearance
A pale pink fruit, about the size of a peach, its leaves resembling thin layers of skin.
Inside floats a pulsating core that whispers softly.
No two soul lotuses look alike.
And yet, they are instantly recognizable.
Not by their shape…
but by the fact that everything about them… seems too serene.
Some say it's their gentle glow.
Others the warmth they radiate.
And yet, they all share the following characteristics:
a barely visible, golden shimmer beneath the surface.
a calming aura that stills even restless thoughts.
a warmth that reaches not the body… but the inner self.
fine particles of light that dissipate into the air like pollen.
But the ancients know:
It is not the light… that makes them special.
But what they carry.
For every soul lotus…
carries the burden of a soul
that refused to break.
And whoever touches it…
carries this burden from now on.
Some claim…
soul lotuses are a blessing.
But only those
who have never worn one.
Ability
Whoever consumes the blossom absorbs another soul.
The soul is in a state of suspension:
It bestows knowledge, strength, power, memories.
is always absolutely personal and unique.
can sometimes even manifest in a physical form or object, but one remains spiritually connected to this pure being.
One must never consume two soul lotuses!
Each soul in the lotus acts like a fragment of a mind.
One soul lotus = Second consciousness in the same body --> A delicate balance.
Two soul lotuses = Too many soul fragments that begin to collide.
The consequence is irreversible:
The body mutates.
The spirit disintegrates.
The being becomes a "multi-soul maw"—a living catastrophe.
These monsters are feared. They rarely exist for more than a few years before they break apart from inner turmoil.
Legends & Myths
The First Three
It is said that there were three beings who consumed such artifacts in a non-compliant manner:
The Knowledge Strangler – first Multi-Soul Maw.
The Black Nun – first Shadow Void.
The Unnamed One – ate a lotus and a body --> was never seen again.
Lost Prophecy
"Whoever unites both artifacts within themselves blinds the light and dispels the shadow."
Whether this is a warning or a promise, no one knows.
