Hmm. It looks bright.
I can't move my body. What happened? "Hewlett!?"
"Calm down!" My head jerks to my side. "We are in a hospital..."
"Hewlett!" I push myself up against the bed I'm in-
"You are not invincible stay where you are!" I stop. He looks roughed up. Even more than usual.
"You're safe!" I can't start sobbing in a hospital. It might give people the wrong idea.
"Ughh!...surprised I made it out?"
"Yeah..."
"You should look more excited. We beat a black lycan after all-"
"We beat him!?" He really did manage to work with the opening I made for him.
"Yori!" What did I do? "We are in a hospital!" Hewlett announces again.
"But you're shouting too!" Then again maybe it's because I'm a lycan that I hear him this clearly.
"You really believe that..." Hewlett answers, his expression wandering off into thought. I feel okay physically but I still can't move. I'm so hungry. That might be why.
It's just the two of us in this huge room. I've never really been to a hospital- Food! And it's heading our way! "Hewlett?!"
He snaps out of his thoughts, "Is screaming my ears out the only way you-he squints at me, "Why do you look excited?"
"Food's on the way" I cheerfully let him know.
"How do you just go about your day after fighting for our lives!?" Hewlett snaps.
"Cause I'm really glad you didn't die..." Why is he this upset about this? Just how much don't I know about what happened?
"Hewlett what happened after I-"
"It's time to eat!" Br Musunga loudly announces as trays of food get carried into the room. "Yori?! Stop bothering Hewlett and eat up."
"Yes sir!" That I can definitely do...we can talk later. I scarf down as much as my hands and mouth can hold. Telling Hewlett how tasty the food is and him reminding me that he's eating the food too. I was right about my body not being able to move because I haven't had anything to eat since the fight. Br Musunga also told Hewlett and me that we were lucky we even won. "You mean ordinaries are tougher than her!?"
"Nothing about last night was normal," Br Musunga says standing in front of us. "The number of werewolves was well over a hundred, meaning we were severely outnumbered. But with my presence they were all captured." A hundred!
"She's the one who did isn't she?" asks Hewlett.
"Your assumption is right. The ordinary lycan you fought was the cause of all that chaos. She, managed to infect that many people, draining her power significantly. So do not assume you were enough. I would have intervened at any moment but chose to gauge your strength instead...Hewlett."
"What the hell did you just say?!" Claws grow out of my hands as a deep, malicious growl escapes from me. "We could have di-" is this what he wanted? My body is trembling...that kind of malice...it feels like a giant axe on my neck. It doesn't feel human! And it's all pointed at me! My body wants to transform but it can't!
"He has a Master!" Hewlett shouts. Br Musunga's intent to kill me barely falters "Yori has a Master! One powerful enough to entrust him to travel alone as a black lycan! Fear why he would be released," His killing intent is reducing. Hewlett might have convinced him!
"Yori!" Br Musunga's voice booms. "Who, is, your master?" My heart is threatening to beat out my chest. My body's panicking. He's going to kill me!
"Answer me."
"You do not have to answer him!" Hewlett pleads. This is the loudest I've ever heard him shout...
I turn to him, "Thanks." I look at Br Musunga again. "But I am not ashamed of my Master!" I can feel his killing intent. It's dropping! "My Master's name is-"
"It's Master Dell. We know." Says Br Musunga.
"Hugghhh!?" I thought it was a secret I had to keep! Is Master a big deal? I've always gotten the sense that he does very important work but why would he not tell me what a big deal he was?! Does that mean Hewlett's known too? Did Master set them up to see if I fail?
"Breathe boy! This isn't an interrogation." Br Musunga says. "Hewlett!?"
"Yes sir!"
"Make sure to keep him updated on everything that happened," Br Musunga turns and heads out of the room.
"Understood Br Musunga!"
I let out a breath of relief. Does he know how scary he is? Of course he must know. He did all of that on purpose-
"Yori!" Hewlett suddenly shouts. "It was just a precaution to see if you really are Master Dell's student."
"But why would you do that?!" I don't think friends do stuff like this. Right?...
"Oh, no. We did not plan anything that was all him. I mean I had a hunch so I was playing along." Hewlett tries to sit up, wincing from his wounds. He grabs his robe and searches through it-I know that scent!-"Here you go, you almost forgot about it." He hands me Master Dell's grimoire.
"Th...thank you." I forgot about something so important. From my Master! I don't think I'm fit to be his student. "How? How did you know he's my Master?" I manage to ask.
"The entire Southern province of Drhoesia has one man in charge of it all. You remember me telling you this right?" I nod in agreement. "His name is Master Dell. One of the ten Masters of The Faith," Hewlett continues whilst handing me Master's grimoire. I grab the grimoire-it rustles-
"Not again!" I drop it on the ground.
"Yori!" Hewlett squeaks. "That is a high grade grimoire. Pick it uuuup!"
"Not until the black smoke stops coming out,"
"Just so you know, Br Musunga would kill you on the spot if he saw what you were doing," As if that would change my mind.
I wait for the book to smoke out before picking it up. The pages flip giving off the same old book scent Hewlett has. It stops on a page where words begin to appear on.
'Dear Yori,
As much as you've grown do not be too shaken by the bad things in this world. There's no correct race. The people who dislike lycans were not born into this world with that hate. Making sure that there's a place where everyone can be safe is what I fight for. Your life matters
Your Master,
Master Dell.'
"Looks like you're done reading," Hewlett points out.
"I am. I need to finish this errand and go back home...to my Master," The next place I'm supposed to go to is Saalku. "Thanks for having my back last night."
"Sure thing. At least Benson has been stopped. Though I can not tell you too much, my mission is to stop the one who sent him." Hewlett did mention Benson being a hired lycan. What kind of person is strong enough to order someone like him around?
