Chapter 22 - CHAPTER 22: HEADING FOR SAALKU

I still don't think I can tell them about the bead I swallowed. It really hasn't done anything...but I'm sure it's important. "Are you done yet?"

"Of course not! Packing is an essential art for travel. Going around with you had me in a panic and I wore the same clothes for so long it felt like they were a part of my skin," Hewlett gives out an embarrassed cough, "I tend to go gibberish when it is hot, apologies."

I would really like it if Hewlett went with me. I don't know how to ask him though. He also said he's on a mission too so I don't think he'll agree. "What are you packing for again?"

"Oh. Uhhhm, I will be leaving soon," I guessed as much. So asking him to come with me isn't a good idea, "I thought Brother Musunga told you..."

"Told me what?..." Was there something you were told that I wasn't?

"Lets just wait on him. He said he wants to talk to us," The same person who nearly killed me, sure, "you should put on something that is not a hospital gown." All of my clothes have been ripped or lost and I even tore Hewlett's robe so I have to pay him back for that somehow. Dang it! Every problem always goes back to money! The one thing that Master never gives me.

I can't let Hewlett know that I'm poor though, "Sure where can I get them?"

"The Faith will provide them for you," Hewlett says as he points to a door, "go in there and pick something fast. We both know the kind of man Brother Musunga is."

"Oh, got it." I go through the door into the room. It's small with a large bin full of clothes in the center. The clothes in it are just about my size. Honestly there's so much to choose from. I pick out a red and black, long-sleeved checkered shirt along with dark grey sweat-pants. This should be okay. I don't think I'm allowed to grab more. Hewlett should be done by now.

"Looks like you are done," Hewlett says.

"Yeah, and somehow you're not." He's dressed smartly. It almost looks uncomfortable.

"All that is left is a robe," he panickily answers as he picks up a robe from his bedside and quickly wears it.

"What time should we be in his office?" It's starting to look like we'll be late.

"Three-ish minutes," rigggghhhhht, "we are not late, do not worry." We speed walk to his office, this looks like a bigger deal than Hewlett is letting on.

We reach his office door, Hewlett's sweatier than he should. We didn't even run here. He knocks-

"Come in," a voice answers from inside. We enter the room filled with decorative weapons around the walls, each with a lingering scent of dried blood.

"Good morning sir," Hewlett says, slightly bowing. I quickly try to follow along.

"Good morning sir."

"Morning. Now, sit," Brother Musunga says, hinting at chairs opposite of him across his office table. We take our seats. "I had given you three days to rest here before you continued your mission." Why am I here if he's talking about Hewlett's mission though? "Now that you've rested you must make your way to Saalku."

"How did you know about that!?" I can swear that I didn't breathe a word to anyone about it!

"The only one permitted to raise their voice in this place, is me-

"Our most sincere apologies Brother Musunga!" Hewlett shouts. But Brother Musunga's malice has already struck, it dares me to breath at the cost of my head. Hewlett pleads until Brother Musunga releases his hold.

I gasp for air.

I need to get out of here before he kills me!

"Master Dell might be very secretive but it is common knowledge that majority of those travelling out of the Southern province pass through the capital of Drhoesia, Saalku." Another thing that Master could've mentioned. "Everyone here has made themselves busy after being requested to aid Hewlett. So! I thought of something brilliant! Since Yori is being sought after by the witch," Br Musunga then points to Hewlett, "you should follow alongside him, eventually those targeting Yori will show themselves. He's the only lead you've had since your last team."

"Understood, Brother Musunga," Hewlett respectfully agrees.

We exit his office, my mind feeling more at ease. My eyes drift to Hewlett. He was in a team before this? They could've been killed. Is that why he's still on this mission?. He never looked angry on our way here even when he told me about the cause of all this being a witch. We're both definitely hiding something.

"I'm glad we're both going to the same place. I was going to ask if you could come with me but I thought you were too busy with...your mission."

"I feel the same way. I honestly thought you could not leave the Southern province."

"What made you think that?" Is it in a barrier or something crazy like that?

"Your Master has not left your side from the time he began teaching you. It is not a secret but Master Dell does not leave the Southern province at all," Hewlett answers.

"Now that you mention it, he never has left me alone in Kopumula. I wouldn't know why but I still want to go back to him." What would make Master stay in the Southern Province given how important he is, he's never even left Kopumula and not even campaigners have come to visit but everyone here respects him. I should ask him when I go back.
