Chapter 347 - GAM Ch 347: Roy Gets Sold Out Faster Than a Discount Turkey

The Jedi holographic recorder could store a vast amount of information.

This was crucial for a child like Mari who had left her original era.

It could help Jedi apprentices continue on the correct Jedi path even without a master's guidance.

Mari said, "Thank you, Master Garfield."

"You are welcome. Go and rest."

"Yes."

Mari said goodbye to Garfield and returned to her room.

Looking at the New York City skyline, she felt conflicted.

Children with Force talent often shared a common trait.

They were precocious.

They were children favored by fate.

Even without joining the Jedi Order, they could achieve extraordinary success in ordinary society under the Force's protection.

Through her interactions with Garfield's family, Mari realized she had traveled through time to another world.

Traveling from one world to another was dangerous, and Mari did not make the unreasonable request for Garfield to take her back.

She only hoped to make plans after she had become stronger.

As for her companions, Mari was both worried and unconcerned.

She told herself that with the Force's protection, her companions would surely overcome any danger.

Life at home was very peaceful, except for Roy, the old cowboy, coming to the door, and his sister Procter, who was also denying everything.

Procter was stunned when she learned that the rune engraved gold nugget Roy had obtained was the key to the cycle of reincarnation.

After a few moments of panic, Procter calmed down and immediately went to her boss, those long worn out pipes, to report the situation and await a reply.

The answer was naturally affirmative.

The gold nugget was indeed the key to starting and stopping the cycle of reincarnation.

So for safety reasons, the other party demanded that the matter be kept secret and that the nugget be given to Garfield for protection.

Seeing Roy and Procter deliver the gold nugget, Garfield rolled his eyes.

He had not even bothered with the matter of him and Pandora being in charge, and now they had sent him another problem.

Garfield threw the nugget at Roy's face.

"No, get away. I do not want this thing."

Roy panicked when Garfield refused to take it.

He shamelessly pleaded, "Please. We are friends. This thing will be a disaster if it ends up with us. You are so powerful. No one would dare to touch it. Even if you do not care about me, at least do it for world peace."

Garfield rolled his eyes and reached out a paw to stop Roy's face from coming close. "Stay away. You are not a girl. It is not like I cannot have you here, but you will have to work part time for me."

Roy said, "No way."

But Procter immediately agreed. "No problem. Roy can work part time for you from now on. Please forgive him if he does anything wrong."

Roy cried, "Procter sold me out so quickly. Oh, dear Procter, you just sold me out like that. Poor old bones."

Knowing Roy was taking advantage of the situation, Procter pulled his hand away and grabbed Roy's ear tightly. "From now on, you had better work here properly. I will let you know if there are any special situations at the police station. And remember to collect any similar gold nuggets you find."

Roy replied with an aggrieved look, "Okay."

He continued to cling to Procter.

Procter knew what this old man was thinking.

They were lovers.

Procter nibbled on Roy's beard. "Alright, work hard here. There will be a reward later. I am going back to the station now. Goodbye, Garfield."

Garfield said, "Goodbye, Procter."

Roy said, "Goodbye, darling."

After Procter left, Roy's earlier distress vanished, replaced by a blissful smile. "My girl is truly adorable."

Garfield nodded. "That is right. A good girl. Roy, tell me the truth. Have you been deliberately making mistakes just to stay here and work for us?"

Roy lit a cigar. "Boss, you see things very clearly. Who knows what will happen after reincarnation? It is better to continue enjoying love here. As for boredom, those dead ghosts give us new surprises every day, although I do not like trouble."

The population of New York City had now surpassed one million, with people dying every day.

The reincarnation system was prepared thousands of years ago.

Back then, very few people escaped its grasp.

With the development of the times, the system realized the problem.

It had selected personnel to form underworld police departments around the world to help it fill in the gaps.

It knew that with the growth of the population, sooner or later the system would be overwhelmed, resulting in more and more missed souls.

That was why it needed Garfield, who had mastered the power of death, to be the director.

However, Garfield's lack of cooperation gave it a headache, but it was not in a hurry.

Once you mastered a certain power, even if you did nothing, fate would come and arrange things clearly for you.

The more Garfield learned in Kamar Taj and the more worlds he traveled through, the more his view of fate gradually changed.

The reason Garfield asked Roy to work in his store was actually out of curiosity.

How many surprises could this particularly troublesome old cowboy bring?

Garfield said, "Trouble does not come to you for no reason, Roy. Some people never encounter any trouble in their lives, while others never have a moment of peace. Like you."

Roy chuckled. "Hehehe, you know me well."

Roy Bob, this old cowboy of the West, had truly never had a moment of peace in his life.

When he was alive, he was a famous fast shooting old cowboy in the West, and the trouble he caused almost covered his entire life.

Even after his death, the wild wolves in the West did not spare his bones.

After joining the Underworld Police Department, he earned numerous merits using the dual pistols at his waist.

As for the troublesome matters, he resolved everything that could be handled with a gun, and even those that could not were eventually resolved with guns.

That was just how the old cowboy operated.

Therefore, the fact that his achievements and punishments were applied to him one after the other was the best proof.

Garfield said, "Stop being so cocky. It is not a bad thing for you to work part time here. I will give you all the benefits. Even if you die, I can resurrect you. Just say the word when you want to reincarnate. I can even let your Procter girl continue to be with you in the future."

Such a good deal.

Old Roy's eyes lit up, but he quickly suppressed his excitement.

There was no such thing as a free lunch.

Garfield's kindness was naturally something he had to reciprocate.

Old Roy, cigar in hand, softly asked Garfield, "Boss, what is the price?"

Of course, it was all for this.

Old Roy was not some naive young man, so Garfield did not quote that classic line.

Garfield pointed to a dead ghost peeking out from outside the shop. "Just send those blind fools to nothingness. I do not like dead ghosts coming to my shop or my High Paws Group to cause trouble."
