Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: Xiao Bei's Home

Qin Yan lightly clapped his hands, as if he had just done a trivial little thing. Then he looked at everyone and said, "Did you see that? As long as you keep practicing hard according to the method I taught you, you will be able to do it in the near future."

"If you can cultivate to the point of moving this rock, I'll teach you some truly meaningful boxing moves."

"Really!"

Luo Xuanyi and the others immediately widened their eyes, looking at Qin Yan with surprise and a touch of disbelief. Their brows revealed endless joy, and their bright eyes sparkled with ecstasy.

Qin Yan's mouth curved slightly upwards as he nodded and said, "Yes!"

"Oh yeah! That's awesome!" Everyone happily hugged each other. They really wanted to learn martial arts, because they didn't want to live a life of fear, being at the mercy of others and powerless. They also wanted to control their own destiny, hoping to protect the people around them with their own hands.

This kind of drive was exactly what he wanted. The reason Qin Yan brought them here was to further ignite their passion and give them some encouragement. "Alright! Let's take a break first! We'll continue practicing this afternoon."

"Oh!" Everyone's morale was high, and at this moment, they were all filled with endless drive and anticipation.

"Hmm? Xiao Liya, what are you doing!" Just as Qin Yan was about to leave, he saw Xiao Liya running towards the rock. Was she trying to give it a try?

As expected, Xiao Liya ran to the rock, placed her hands on the rock face, and then put all her strength into pushing.

At first, the large rock remained motionless. Everyone nervously watched Xiao Liya, quietly observing her every move, to see if she could also push the large rock.

As time passed, the little girl was still pushing the large rock with all her might. Suddenly, Qin Yan's brow twitched, and he silently thought, "Here it comes."

Under everyone's gaze, the large rock finally trembled slightly, and then it slowly began to move.

"Huh!" Luo Xuanyi and the others widened their eyes and were startled again. They never expected that besides Qin Yan, Xiao Liya could also push that large rock.

Is this still a human child? Several of them began to doubt life itself.

"Big Brother Qin Yan! Look, I can move the big rock too!" After pushing the large rock a few meters away, Xiao Liya looked at Qin Yan, her face full of pride, as if she was asking for praise and waiting for Qin Yan's commendation.

"Haha! Good, good, good! Xiao Liya is the best." Qin Yan looked at her innocent and cute appearance, shook his head helplessly, and smiled slightly.

"Sugoi, so impressive." Everyone also snapped out of their daze and couldn't help but praise her. They hadn't expected the little girl to be so powerful.

"Hehe!" Receiving affirmation from Qin Yan and everyone, Xiao Liya laughed happily, revealing her two rows of big white teeth. Happiness seemed so simple for her.

Perhaps it was because of Qin Yan's promise, or perhaps stimulated by Xiao Liya, everyone became even more enthusiastic during their afternoon practice.

After the interlude of the large rock incident, Xiao Bei said she wanted to go home to check on and clean her house.

So, at everyone's suggestion, they all went to Xiao Bei's house.

Xiao Bei's house was on a not-very-high hillside, where there was a small courtyard enclosed by a fence.

In the courtyard, there was a large tree with a round canopy of tender green leaves and white-pink flowers, exuding an intoxicating fragrance. It was like a natural large tent, blocking the midday sun.

Under the large tree, there was a round small bamboo table, with two round wooden stools and two bamboo armchairs around it.

Next to the large tree was a dilapidated wooden house, which formed a stark contrast with the surrounding scenery.

Between the large tree and the wooden house, there was also an ancient well. The courtyard was planted with flowers and plants, and being in it made people feel a sense of warmth, with boundless peace and tranquility in their hearts.

"Everyone, please sit in the courtyard first! I'll go pour some water for you." Xiao Bei said kindly to everyone, then looked at Qin Yan and Xiao Liya beside him and said, "Qin Yan, my home is quite simple, I hope you don't mind."

Perhaps fearing that Qin Yan would dislike her and be disgusted by the place, Xiao Bei spoke with a hint of inferiority.

But how could Qin Yan care about such things? On the contrary, he admired this strong and sunny girl. This place was not only beautiful but also filled with a warm feeling, which he liked very much.

So Qin Yan said to her sincerely, "How could I? This place is so beautiful and quiet, it makes one feel very comfortable. I like it here very much."

"Really!" Hearing this, Xiao Bei's eyes immediately lit up, revealing a radiant smile that warmed people's hearts.

"Really," Qin Yan smiled slightly, stating it with certainty.

Xiao Liya's eyes kept darting around, observing her surroundings like a curious baby, searching for interesting things. If Qin Yan hadn't been holding her, she probably would have already run off to play.

Out of curiosity, Qin Yan followed Xiao Bei into the house.

Upon seeing it, one could say it was even more dilapidated than "four bare walls."

To the left of the entrance, there was a large water缸 taller than her. On the ground was a large burlap sack, seemingly for rice, but it was now empty at the bottom, with only a few grains of rice visible through the gaps.

There was also a three-tiered wooden shelf, filled with stone jars and ceramic bowls of various sizes.

On the damp wooden floor, a small snail was currently crawling.

Walking further into the room on the right, the damp floor there was also filled with various containers: chipped porcelain bowls, stone jars, and large wooden basins, all with faint water stains remaining. It was hard to find a place to step.

Qin Yan looked up and found that the roof was already full of holes, so it seemed these containers on the ground were used to catch rainwater dripping down on rainy days.

On the floor by the window, there was a tattered straw mat with a thin white cloth spread on it, which seemed to be where she usually slept.

The grayish-white mud walls were covered with several cracks. On the wall next to a wooden post, two figures were drawn: an old woman with her hair tied up and a small girl.

The dark outlines seemed to be drawn with charcoal. Although there was no color, the overall picture depicted a playful, joyful, and warm scene, vivid and full of life.

The old woman in the drawing was skipping ahead, then puckering her lips and looking back at the little girl behind her, her expression amusing but her eyes filled with endless doting. The little girl, meanwhile, was skipping and dancing behind her, her face beaming with happiness.

Above their heads seemed to be thick, leafless branches extending from a large tree.

Oh! No! Not branches, but cracks formed in the wall, looking strikingly similar to a tree branch that had lost all its leaves.

Pieces of mud that had fallen off the wall formed white clouds, and the edge of the wall touching the floor was stained by water due to dampness, forming a pattern like continuous mountain ranges.

The whole scene looked like a landscape painting, and they were happily walking within the painting.

What the hell was there left to clean? If she cleaned any more, the house might collapse. This showed how difficult the little girl's life had been before, and it deeply touched Qin Yan's heart. What a strong and brave child she was.

Qin Yan took a deep breath, trying to calm his emotions. He would re-examine this extraordinary girl.
