"Ack!" Em said.
"Oh, sorry." A boy who was a head taller than Em stood in her way. She couldn't see his eyes clearly because his long silver hair fell over them.
"Um, who are you?" Em asked curiously, partly because she had never seen anyone with silver hair.
"Oh, I'm Dolian. Nice to meet you."
"Hmm…" Em thought "He seems really nice. I wonder if he has any special power?"
"Do you have any powers, I mean your hair color isn't the usual type, so that's a sign you have powers, right?"
"Yeah, I can cast illusions," Dolian replied.
"Oh my god, that's so cool!" Em exclaimed.
"I know, this power is really helpful in battle. I got away from a few thieves who were chasing me by conjuring up a chasm. Who are you by the way?"
"I'm Emily."
"Oh-" Dolian's eyes widened "Are you Emily Maris, the one who defeated the pard?"
"How'd you know about that?" Em asked. She was very surprised.
"Word travels fast, I guess, the whole academy is talking about you. I heard the principal called you to his office. What did you talk about?"
"Before I answer your question, I have something to ask you."
"You're not avoiding the question are you?"
"Of course not. But do you think you're the adventurous type or one who prefers to stay put and go with the flow?"
"I'd say I'm neither. I like to go on adventures but only if they're not too dangerous."
"Well, what do you think about going on a quest?"
Em told him everything about the conversation and after she finished, Dolian seemed like he was considering the possibility.
"I'd love to come, but I'm not sure my skills are useful enough for you."
"Nonsense. I'd enjoy having someone like you around," Em said. She was happy that she had found a new friend and their last quest member.
