Em crossed off another day on her calendar. 4 more days until the end of the lunar month. After that, it was 10 more days until the quest started. Normally, someone's power would be revealed in moments of extreme stress or when you have extremely strong emotions. However, at the end of each lunar month, there was a sacred ritual which could help Em discover her power. Em was a practical person; she wanted to be prepared for everything. Em lay down on her bed. She was quite excited for her ritual. Very few students would do it. Em was curious as to what her power would be. There were few instances of guardians getting multiple powers but having just one was good enough for Em.
Em woke up early the next morning and got dressed. She put on her uniform-a cream blouse paired with either black pants or a black skirt. She went down to the arena to practice. After practicing for a while, she got bored and went up to the hall to have breakfast. There, she met Dolian.
"Hello," she said, "Are you going to eat breakfast too?"
"Yes," he replied.
"That's great! what are you going to eat I'm going to eat some bread, and some meat"
"Can I ask you a question? How did you discover your power?"
"Well, I did the ritual." Dolian curtly replied.
"Me too! I mean, at least I'm going to anyways."
"Can I-" Dolian looked nervous. "Go with you?"
"Of course!" Em grinned "Ri is coming too."
Em was extremely excited. Today was when she would have the ritual. She got up earlier than she anticipated because of nervousness. She went down to the ancient courtyard with Ri and Dolian after having breakfast. There, a magic circle was drawn and an old man of about 60 stood next to it.
"Ahh, Emily Maris, is it?" He said in a croaky voice.
"Yes sir." Em replied.
"Good, good. Now step on here." Em did as she was told.
As she stepped into the circle, it glowed with a soft light Em smelled the faint smell of salt. Suddenly, the circle flashed with a bling light and Em was engulfed in it. Right before she was, she could see the startled faces of her friends and the teacher.
