[3rd POV]
Walking into the museum and actually getting into it in the first place had definitely been an...experience. Not that it was truly bad or anything, but it was VERY packed, and there were a shit ton of people there. Like, way more than either Billie or Haley had ever been expecting.
There were easily a thousand people in the building, probably more like double or triple that at least. The building was huge of course, so that didn't really matter all that much, but it was still a lot of people. It also meant that the two of them had to be pretty careful not to be noticed by some foreign visitor from America or another country that they were popular in.
Haley was not ready to announce their relationship, not just yet. She wanted to wait just a bit longer, preferably until one of their concerts or something. At the very least, she wanted to move in with her first before doing something like that.
Billie agreed with that, as it made sense. Plus once it was public that they were together, Billie knew for a fact that things would change. There would be a lot more negative press heading their way, simply because gay marriage was not legal yet. And it was not nearly as normal as it was when she had died.
It would be looked down upon, and there was a high likelihood that harassment might even follow. And on top of that, places like Twitter would be even more awful than it already was. Not that Billie or Haley like...ever used that place. The most they used it for was to browse, and then to do some tweets for their music.
They most certainly did not involve themselves in the drama that was on that place like...constantly. It was a shit hole that they preferred to not get involved in. That and most of the people that regularly used and tweeted on it were not very nice to interact with, and were truly terrible people (you know, racist, sexist, homophobic, etc). Not all of them were bad of course, but a shit ton of them certainly were.
They were like paparazzi but online and somehow worse in several ways. They were a part of the "Devilish Trinity" as Billie had dubbed the trio that was Twitter, Reddit, and 4Chan. All three of them being god awful sites that she wished did not exist. At least not how they were.
Walking through the large museum had also been rather interesting. As there were people truly everywhere, making it rather hard to walk in areas that had a well known attraction, which did exactly what it was meant to do. It attracted a ton of people.
The Mona Lisa was the absolute peak of that of course. But there were tons of other smaller ones that were so popular that it blocked out that entire part of the hallway for other people, pretty much forcing them to push their way through the crowd.
Billie had to do that several times at this point, because the people did not want to be courteous and move out of the damn way. Probably because they believed their spot would be taken or something stupid.
Billie didn't really understand their thought process.
But as annoyed as Billie was with the people, Haley was even more irritated. She was truly excited to tour the Louvre, but it was being ruined because there were just so god damn many people. And that was making it hard to enjoy the beautiful historical artifacts.
"There are way more people than I thought there would be" Haley said, as they walked through a hallway into another room. This one held ancient sculptures from Rome. All of them were in excellent
"Yeah...I think that might be my fault. I should have researched it more to be sure that we were not walking into a damn maze of people" Billie replied awkwardly, knowing that her girlfriend was not really happy.
"Oh it's okay babe, it's not really a problem. I'm just more annoyed with the sheer amount of people that are just blatantly blocking everyone else from walking through. Literally blocking the entire hallway simply because they want to see a painting or whatever else" Haley responded with a grunt, annoyance flashing in her eyes.
They soon had walked into a new gallery area, one that had a lot less people. But thankfully it was one that both of them were interested in. It was called the "Gallery of the Five Continents". It had art and sculptures from each of the continents, with some of them being incredibly old, and incredibly interesting.
Like one piece of art that was an African sculpture of a woman and her child from the 14th century, which had been found from modern Mali. It was incredible for what they had back then.
There was also a European sculpture of "The Virgin and the Child" from around 1300 CE. This one had been found in Spain, and was also just as incredible.
"To think that people genuinely made stuff this beautiful that long ago, before we had proper technology" Haley muttered, genuinely awed with everything. She had never seen something so old, something that was far older than the very country that she lived in.
She was not afraid to admit that history had always been her favorite normal subject in school, so she was truly enjoying this. Billie was a bit surprised that she genuinely was enjoying the museum, as she had been expecting it to be somewhat ruined with the whole hallway debacle and all of that. But it would seem that her expectations were wrong, and she was happy to know that.
She was happy that her girlfriend was enjoying this just as much as she was (besides the initial difficulties that they had been having).
"And just think, we grew in technology this fast, to what we have today. While it took them thousands of years just to reach this" Billie said, motioning to the European sculpture in front of her.
The rate of growth of the human race was truly insane, and it was only going to get faster, she knew that for a fact. But it was also only going to cause more conflicts, simply because of how the human race was as a whole. It was sort of in their nature.
"How long do you think it took them to make these sculptures?" Haley asked, curious to hear her girlfriend's response.
"Years probably. At the very least it had almost definitely taken them months to do. Sculptures are not easy to do, even with the technology we have now. But some of these sculptures are way smaller than normal, so it makes it inherently different" Billie replied with a shrug, truly having no idea.
"Hmm, I'll say it took them at least five years. No way you can build something like that so quickly, it's not possible" Billie added, deciding to give her a more concrete answer.
"But I guess it depends on the size of the sculpture itself, and the amount of detail. After all, the more detailed the sculpture the longer it takes to make. So some of these could have taken decades with how insanely detailed they are.
Soon, the two had left the exhibition, deciding to go and head to the one that is primarily Egyptian, as it had a sphinx statue inside that both of them had always wanted to see. Because the original sphinx is incredible.
With that, the two had started to walk to the nearby Egyptian exhibition, all the while she had only one thought on her mind.
'Time to see more of Louvre!'
