[ELARA'S POV]
Three months after Julian was born and I went back to work.
Not full time. Just three days a week. Sarah had been running Kane & Associates while I was on maternity leave and honestly she'd done better than I had.
The company had grown. New clients. Bigger budgets. A waiting list.
"You built this without me." I said during our first meeting back.
"I executed your vision." Sarah corrected. "But yeah. We killed it while you were making a human."
I loved her.
Going back felt weird. Good weird. I was still Mom. Still spent half my day thinking about feeding schedules and whether Julian had pooped. But I was also CEO again. Making decisions. Building something.
Felt like myself. Not just someone's wife. Someone's mother. Just me.
Damian was proud. Told me constantly. Sent flowers to the office with cards that said things like "for the woman who does it all" which was cheesy but also made me cry.
Pregnancy hormones still hadn't fully left.
