We threw a party to celebrate.
Not a big one. Just family. Julian. Marcus and Rebecca who were officially dating now. Marguerite. Catherine the lawyer who'd helped destroy Victor.
Isla ran around showing everyone her new dolls. Julian—the baby—slept in his swing. Completely oblivious to the chaos.
"To Victor's downfall." Julian—the brother—raised his glass. "May he rot in federal prison."
"To family." Damian corrected. "The kind you choose. The kind that doesn't betray you."
We drank. Well, everyone else drank. I had water.
Because I'd peed on a stick that morning.
Two pink lines. Again.
I was pregnant. Three months postpartum with Julian and somehow pregnant again.
The timeline didn't make sense. We'd been careful. Using condoms because I couldn't take birth control while nursing. But apparently condoms weren't foolproof.
Or Damian's breeding kink was so powerful it defied latex.
