Chapter 33 - The Final Stand

THE WASTELAND OF FEAR

The battlefield was a silent wasteland. Burned trees jutted skyward like charred skeletons, the earth scarred by the fury of titans.

Smoke and ash coiled into the sky like restless spirits, choking the air.

The ground was jagged and unstable; each step risked falling into a crater or impaling oneself on sharp debris.

Hikari stood frozen before the Monkey King, fear coursing through her veins as she watched him lift his staff above the unconscious Smoke.

Her tears streaked down her cheeks. She can't watch this happen… she has to do something.

The Delta Ops Step In Suddenly, two figures rose from the scorched ground.

Rikuya and Takumi, Delta Ops brothers, leapt in front of Hikari.

"No! What are you doing? You'll die!" Hikari cried.

Rikuya, sixteen, with brown hair, brown eyes, and a scar across his right eye, met her gaze with unwavering resolve.

"Lord Shukumei ordered it. My duty is to protect you, no matter what."

Takumi, twenty, placed a steady hand on Hikari's shoulder.

"We'll handle him. We'll take him down."

Hikari grabbed Rikuya's arm, desperation lacing her voice. "Please… don't. You'll die!"

Rikuya looked at her with a deep, unwavering gaze. Closing his eyes, he smiled faintly.

"If I ever had the chance to have a future with a girl like you… that would be my true dream. But I'm a Shinobi. This is my way."

Hikari's eyes widened, tears spilling freely. This is love… and loss… all at once.

THE FIRST STRIKE

The brothers turned toward the Monkey King, bloodied armor reflecting the fiery battlefield.

"Bring it on, you bastard," Rikuya shouted.

The Monkey King's lips curved into a cruel smile. Without a word, he charged.

"RIKUYA!" Hikari screamed, watching the boy run toward almost certain death.

The Monkey King unleashed a Fire-class technique, his fist blazing, and drove it through Rikuya's stomach.

Hikari gasped, breath catching in her throat.

Shukumei, atop the Manjurushi Lion, stared in shock.

Yamata, injured and lying on the ground, watched, mind racing.

Smoke and Fugami remained unconscious as the remaining Delta Ops members screamed in terror.

Rikuya's body fell, hitting the ground with a sickening thud.

Hikari froze, trembling. For the first time, she understood love and loss as if a candle had been lit and extinguished in an instant.

The Monkey King Turns His Attention

The Monkey King's golden eyes shifted toward Smoke.

"No more distractions," he growled, voice like molten metal.

He lifted his staff, aiming to finish him.

Hikari reacted instantly, blocking the strike with her sword.

The Monkey King's eyes widened in surprise.

"Hikari…" Smoke stirred, finally noticing her bravery.

Before she could capitalize, the Monkey King kicked her to the ground.

"I have a question for you," he said, voice dark, curious.

"You were supposed to face Ren and Juzo. What happened?

You didn't defeat them… that would be impossible."

"They retreated," Hikari whispered, voice trembling.

"Stop lying to me!" the Monkey King barked.

Yet, deep down, he sensed the truth in her words.

"They retreated because… I changed Ren's heart. She wants to stop this war," Hikari said, resolute.

"That is nonsense," the Monkey King scoffed, though a faint curiosity glimmered in his eyes. "How… did you change her heart?"

Hikari met his gaze, unwavering.

"Look around. You just killed an innocent boy who had nothing to do with your son's death. You've had your revenge. Are you happy now?"

The Monkey King's eyes widened at her words, but his rage-darkened glare returned.

"You don't understand! That was my son! My only son! For someone to kill him… with no reason, no remorse, no pride… all for nothing… and now you want me to make peace? You've lost your mind, child! I will not understand you… now, die!"

YAMATA'S POISON STRIKE

He surged toward Hikari, but the poison Yamata had injected earlier coursed through the Monkey King's veins. He fell to the ground, screaming in agony.

Hikari gasped, activating her Kokkorogan. "The poison… it's spreading… through his body…"

Yamata struggled to rise, bloodied but grinning. "Hahaha… got you, Monkey. You let your guard down."

"What… did you do to me?!" the Monkey King growled.

Yamata laughed, sly and confident. "While you were preoccupied with Smoke, I gave you a little gift. My snake found your weakest point… without you realizing."

The Monkey King's eyes widened in shock and rage.

SHUKUMEI'S SEAL

Shukumei leapt from the Manjurushi Lion. "You're finished, Lord Goku! Accept your fate!"

He clapped his hands, summoning the Mountain Hand of StoneBuddha Hand Mountain.

Giant stone hands rose slowly from the earth, aiming to crush the Monkey King.

The Monkey King looked at the advancing hands, desperation in his eyes. "No… I can't go out like this!"

He lunged toward Hikari, grabbing her mid-air and hurling her into the perimeter of the forming seal. The hands closed, burying her in earth and stone, her head poking out, hands and feet trapped.

Shukumei's face turned pale. "No… no, Hikari! What have I done?"

Yamata screamed her name. "Undo it! Shukumei, undo it!"

"It's impossible!" Shukumei shouted, panic evident. "You cannot simply undo a seal!"

Hikari was trapped, the battlefield trembling around her.
